Every year someone post something like this... The irony is every year they have been correct lol. As far as new releases are concerned anyway. There have been several very good expansions released. So if your not one of the "grass is always greener on the other side" crowd endlessly chasing the next big thing, you probably don't have much to complain about as most MMOs got pretty decent updates / improvements this year. WoW, LotR, CoX, EQ2, DDO, EVE, Lineage 2...all got some very nice additions this year. Even Vanguard is playable and decent now. So yeah, if you are one of the people that hasn't learned not to buy into the hype of a new release, then yeah it was probably a pretty bad year for you.

For myself there truly is nothing to play atm, so thats quite bad. If you want to play a good game you need to look at releases from several years ago. |

2007 was pretty bad too. 2006 was no great shakes. Actually, when was a good year for MMOs, since 2004 at least? In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. The launch of World of Warcraft. It almost killed EQ2 or rather it's bugs did and other various shortcomings. |

lol aoc and war wont close anytime soon. with the amount of money invested in the games why would they close so early? and war isnt even close to dieing dude im sorry if you feel that way. ya it doesnt have a million subs but im guessing it doesnt have ten either. so while they might be over rated games their most likely not going anywhere soon |

oh....
well actually i would say that if WOW launched 2004 then it was definitely the worst year. I don't mean to bash all the WOW fans, I'm glad you enjoy your game, it's just that it made the rest of all the games turn into complete and total crap, and since I don't play WOW I haven't had a satisfying game experience since then. |

Maybe just the most useful year. We have been living in the age of capitalism for a couple of centuries now, and this is the nature of it; rise and fall, the so called destructive creativity of capitalism. |

I came back into the "MMO scene" because of war, i was really expecting a lot more from it, and it disapointed me so x10 (mutiplied a trillion times) much. So yes, i concur this year has been the biggest disapointment in my MMO career.
But, tomorrow spellborn will release... and it will be free to try so who knows... |

I concur, we haven't had a decent MMO in years and none that have been really inventive and innovating. Just a bunch of garbage acutally. Where is our realtime combat like we see in such games as Mount&Blade? Why haven't any MMO's gone to this for combat.? The tech is here for it. Instead we're stuck in the era of EQ and such. When an MMO has combat as good or better than Mount&Blade, then and only then will I consider playing another MMORPG. Until that time....I am happy playing M&B. :) ![]() |

I hope they come out with one you like someday.
That said, I really don't like combat much unless I am healing, and even then I prefer making things or story line. |
