Well I played SWG from the beta and absolutely fell in love with the game. It was completely star wars!! Then they made change after change and those half a dozen professions because 32. It was horrible but I endured and made jedi after 2 years of work only to have it utterly ruined less than half a year later by the NGE. I was mortified, horrified, angry and outraged. 

I went back to the game a few times but god it was like dustballs in the old west. no one!! 

Well about four days ago i was reading my 10th or so bulletin about knights of the old republic coming out and then hunted for ages to find a release date and saw that its expected fourth quarter 09 1st quarter 10 which means a year at least to wait. so i decided to try swg again.

I was so happy i did. I can't remember why i was so angry anymore after such a long hiatus and i immediately asked some fellow 'elder' players what had ahcnged and talked and learned quite a bit was the same but a lot had been added, cards, collections, areas. and i started playing and its now been three days and im totally hooked. i had completely forgotten how cool areas like kashyyk are and the ryatt trail with the massive trees that go down four levels.

my jedi who was once uber is rather weak and im having to get more gear to get him back. the cities are busiers, not as busy as launch but mos eisley is full enough to make it fun and players play until late at night which i like. im on chimaera - majere naj - and also the canteen is about 50% as busy as the busy days of corellia. also restus has been sacked and is now a wicked pvp area.

all in all i think i will be enteratined for antoher six months getting my toon back up to par. its really great being back in the star wars world and enough people to make it fun again. its taking a lot to get the swing of things but i love playing my jedi again. i hope more vets return as it seems are in wait for the knights mmo to come around.

hahaha i knew id see that. thats how deep our anger goes. but im not. im a minnesota who moved to london and is now writing this from the czech republic where my design studios office is. its about 11:00 pm and im in my ytwhatever 2000 yacht with four players about to do the avatar final quest. :)

this will be my final post on this. i like the game because it reminds me of loving the films as a kid. moan and groan more if you like. try it again if you like. to each their own. but its fun again for me at least. thats all i have to say on it.

what's to worry about? Already more people are interested in the new SW game then you will ever or have ever seen play SWG. But I guess in your world a game about nothing is fun.

Really funny how every couple weeks someone pops on here out of nowhere with a low post count and "enlightens" us with the exact same story about how they are an old player that just came back and the game is amazing now... There seems to be some kind of pattern here...

Don't you remember when Obraik tried to rally his buddies over on the SOE forums to come over here and post good things about SWG? That's all this is. Just ignore it.

When I bought the game SWG it was just after beta and it was the game I beta'd it was fun and was great to run with my guild, but then they took that game changed the whole thing set everyone back to the start and said hey but the names still the same, leaving the name the same but destroying what wasn't broke was a mistake, no amount of "Hey this games great again" will get my or my guild to go back, give us classic servers with the game I bought and wanted to play and you will see the population come back, till then, you posting about a diffrent game, its not SWG its SWG2 which sad to say is a POOR POOR man's uncle of the original.

I like to think that they really are old players that don't normally post here and came out of the woodwork to retry SWG....  The funny part for me is how none of them come back and follow up after a couple weeks to say how great the game still is.  It's easy for an MMO to be entertaining for the first 5 hours you play it.  Regardless of how crappy that MMO is.

well i am going to post again. ive been reading mmorpg for ages. im not a big mmo player, only played swg and then ddo since beta (loved the pnp version) and i always laughed at how incredibly down so many posters were on in and out of game forums. they couldnt just post they disliked something once it had to be again adn again and again. i havent had a need to post on mmorpg cause i only really used it to check out other games and if i should get them. watch it to see when star trek might be coming, checking out peoples thoughts on eve but nothing really grabbed me and of course knights. so yes, believe when some people post who dont normally. not always, sure marketing people will pump these up im sure, but there were over 250,000 players when it was very busy so its not out of the realm of possibility that people dont frequent these that often and honestly came back to the game they may actually like it. im not saying its heaven but the thrill is there and to be completely honest i think it would be the case with any game youd spend years playing and then come back to after a long break because you find parts of it fresh or just remembered what you liked. im not trying to rally anyone to come back i just appreciate when i read posts about games ive never played and people put sincere thoughts about their experience up. its the best form of a review in my opinion.

Never mind those guys mate. If you look closely, you'll see it is always the same 4 or 5 people who dont have any respect for other people's opinions. It's their way or no way at all.

Just ignore the disgruntled few. Hopefully, one day, they will learn to respect other people's choices as we respect theirs.

But wait, they fully understand what happened but the game is getting better and better every day and there is ALWAYS a group waiting JUST for you!  The legacy quests are so much fun, so heroic.

Nothing is broken with the game AT ALL.  All of those people who play it periodically hoping that the game has improved enough that it won't feel like a beta -- They are just lying.  Their mission in life is to destroy SWG.  They don't have jobs, families, school, or other interests...  They are all here just to lie to the readers of this message board and warn the unsuspecting public about trying the free trial before actually paying to play the game.

Do you honestly thing several similarly worded posts indicate some sort of organized effort to virally market SWG?  You don't believe that a handful of folks who have played SWG for a while, and are afraid that the dwindling number of players could cause the game to be closed, are former players who hated the NGE but recently came back and found that, even though the core game is still as bad as it was when the NGE launced, the NGE is now the greatest game that has ever existed?  You are truely a cynical person...

SW is a unique franchise. People love it so much that they will even play NGE and try to like it. When vets return then come here and tell us all how good it is now, I notice a pattern and not a viral marketing pattern. The pattern is that they are just so happy to be back in the SW universe, not that the game is good. People will crawl through the desert to a mirage and drink sand because they want water so bad and do not know any better. Most SWG vets know better.

That being said I haven't played SWG preNGE or postNGE so don't care, but if the guy likes SWG let him do so. If he wants to post here saying that he enjoys it - he is entitled to it - just as well as you freaks are entitled to do your 20 posts a week against SWG.

No wonder no one ever posts anything positive here. 99% know they'll get bashed by random idiots if they post here saying they like a game that is not WoW.

And those that post they hate WoW just get overflooded with WoW fanboys instead. Endless circle of negative crap that 95% of the users of MMORPG.com post.
