Im terrified about the future of humanity after reading some of the DF bashing posts on this forum and thinking about the people behind them.

Others are scared that DF may release well and take subs away from their guild/game that is also in the pvp genre (WAR, AoC) so they come here in some sad attempt to try and stop that.

Im thrilled to see what this forum will be like when this game releases.  Either way, its going to be a blast.

Lets see, 8 (going on 9) years of production, a graphics engine that is just..meh, no name/no reputation EU corp (No offence EU but Eve is the best game you guys got IMO), no solid amount of time beta/server stress testing yet they are talking about putting it on the shelves already. I could go on....but why, they fuel the fire for me

AoC mayyyybe but when i left those that stayed seem to like the graphics or IP. Most pvp groups seemed to have said a big F you funcom with a I quit after it.

WAR hmm doubt it.  Quick easy instant pvp seems to be there fan base. 

I would say EvE is the only one who would worry and is DFs real compitition.  I think DF will pull out with a lil more subs than them due to it being fantasy.

But DF Devs would have to deliver on there end seeing as EvE is like the wow of sandboxs. (other than popularity in there market EvE has nothing in common with WoW)

Release is going to be fun. If DF will be a good game or not I dont know. But I know for a fact 100% DF will not meet the expectations of a handful of fans.  When someone who follows a game starts to foam at the mouth you know they have hype fever. And the games release is like the cops shutting down the local crack dealer. 7 years 7 yers then bam no more hype. Withdrawl is a hell of a thing.

I see what you are saying...and i certainly dont think will cripple either pvp game since they are certainly different types of pvp when you compare it to what DF is based on.

However there are certainly enough pvp guilds in WAR and AoC that are open to the idea and have an eye on DF.  I can guarentee it actually just off of the guilds I know besides my own that play those games.

I would argue that DF would take more people away from WAR or Aoc than it would EVE if it releases well.  Primarily because of the number of subs the game has....but if you step away from asbolute numbers and talk about relative numbers, i think it is pretty close.   I think that the fantasy genre is one point that you cant ignore when comparing all these games.  Yes EVE is a sanbox like DF, but it also is not set in a fantasy world, and that may effect it.

We'll see soon enough.

I would rather have Aventurine be the "outcasts" of the gaming industry. It means they wont produce another crappy, level-based, same old boring garbage game. Because it appears that the rest of the MMO industry (Except for JGE, we have yet to see how that comes out...skill based twitch combat? nice) likes to make the exact same games but with different abilities, classes, storyline, and a few "new" features (which are pretty lame anyway)

Darkfall is a running gag. Anyway I think alot of us are enjoying this 'forum entertainment' more then any of the current mmos. So we should all say thank you to Aventurine.

No offence to the intelligence of the poster, but EvE is possibly the best PvP/niche game in existence at the moment. If the EU can keep developing games of that quality, then that's where I'll be looking.

What does the US really have in terms of MMO's at the moment? WoW is watered down with piss garbage. WAR is half decent, but still pretty lame in terms of PvP, and AOC, well we all know about AOC

The other things you listed as I've said.. are pretty standard for an MMO. 

Unless you can point me to the game that launched with all the advertised features, didn't cut classes or cities ... or put stuff off to an expansion and most importantly.. launched in perfect working order.

I remember some really good launched (like DAoC) but there was still many broken/unfinished things in the game.

This is almost a valid point, Antarious.  There's just one flaw.  Tasos (the lead developer for Darkfall) has stated in the last few months that the game is "feature complete" and will be released after open beta that ends in December.

I'm not saying the game will release "feature complete" (whatever the hell that means to Tasos) by the end of December, but if it doesn't, I will have lost the last point of respect that I had for Aventurine and won't even bother following the game any more.

 Yup, they're certainly giving the impression they're hiding something. They're behaving like Funcom did leading up to AOC release and that makes people suspect. A dev proud of their product that has all they promised within it would have waved the NDA this close to their supposed release. If they've hit snags, how hard is it to just inform the community it looking likely the beta testing will go on into 09? If the dev are dong this to try build hype it will back fire if they carry on like this.

Yeah which is understandable. The problem is they miss dates and don't tell us, they ignore the questions entirely and pretend that what they said before never existed and we're not allowed to bring it up. They expect us to be sheeps and not say anything. Users like myself who have supported them all of these years are part of the problem but even a lot of us are starting to have issues with Aventurine now that the lies are piling on.

 

What happens when the game comes out and there are features missing, bugs, or exploits and we're sitting there posting about it and the moderators ban us and the devs ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist?
