It was announced that the game would be released in 2008 and also stated that open beta would be this month. First closed beta came around and the only people allowed in the beta were a small group of  trusted friends, most likely only about 20-30 people. Which is fine with me however they mislead the community into thinking that mass beta invites had been sent out.

Now it's crunch time and even though it was also stated that open beta would have ended by December not only has open beta NOT begun but the devs haven't mentioned a date at all. I have no problems with delays and a company not meeting a date even though they specifically promised that they would but I do have a problem with them completely ignoring the subject and expecting us to forget that they said it.

The mods are now deleting posts from the forum and banning people for pointing out that the Darkfall devs are hiding something. Why are they so afraid to conduct a legit closed beta that includes more people than just their personal friends? Why did a small company like Aventurine refuse an interview with tentonhammer.com a week ago?

Here is my post that got me banned from their forums, it was a reply to another thread:

Like I said, I personally believe that the game will be out within the next couple months but it's highly unlikely that the features they promised will be delivered upon. I only wish that more of the posters there weren't such sheep and they would mount together and ask hard questions instead accepting the words of Tasos as messages from god.

I've been a member of their community since 2003 and I've supported the game throughout the vaporware accusations and all of the other criticism. The game is indeed real however it looks like it will not be the game we were promised and the hardcore fans such as myself will be sorely disappointed.

Maybe they hit some problems during closed beta? They need more time to fix it, its a small company.

And yes! DF is a joke in the MMO Industry.

The game hasn't been released yet so I won't rush to judgement but I will name a couple others that should get the award.. W.I.S.H,DnL and Tabula Rasa I could name more but what's the point.  Play or don't play pretty simple, Right?  UO and SWG are a joke right now so...

Yeah which is understandable. The problem is they miss dates and don't tell us, they ignore the questions entirely and pretend that what they said before never existed and we're not allowed to bring it up. They expect us to be sheeps and not say anything. Users like myself who have supported them all of these years are part of the problem but even a lot of us are starting to have issues with Aventurine now that the lies are piling on.

What happens when the game comes out and there are features missing, bugs, or exploits and we're sitting there posting about it and the moderators ban us and the devs ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist?

You're post, while being valid, is littered with 'seems' and 'ifs' and 'I thinks'. Those are fine, but they do not prove anything and they say very little. Also, your post on their forums is not exactly edifying so it does not surprise them that they took action. Give it a month - if no open beta and release happens, then there are grounds for back of a better term, justice. Now, it is THEIR game and NOT ours, and they can do/take away/add ANYTHING they want WHEN they want and HOW they want. Therefore, if they did take out city building entirely and the open looting, I'd be 100% okay with that, however, I would not be okay with the fact that they lied/decieved.

As for people being sheep, it appears to me that people flaming the game are the one's jumping on the bandwagon.  Why is this? Well because they are judging something before they have actually had the opportunity to play it and have no idea whatsoever how it will turn out.  They make wild claims based on no evidence at all and try to dress it up as fact based on some kind of misplaced sense of entitlement. Some of the fans do the same but at least it is for a positive purpose in their own minds rather than just to complain when there is nothing to complain about.

Personally, I find talking about someone's religious sig more entertaining at this point. Bashing Darkfall has become so boring, I'd rather use "Darkfall" as being synonymous to using the word "farce". I think its clear at this point, until they pull out a product that delivers on all they've promised, we can use their game title as a new pop-culture word.

Hell, I think having a Darkfall sig at this point is bordering "sin" and compelling damnation upon us all! Repent!!!

Darkfall is no where close to a joke.

It has 200k+ members on there forums and it isn't even in open beta... I remember before they announced on there site about beta they had only about 60-70k members on there site after the announcment that number grew like fire and continues to grow thats without heavy advertising its all been from word of mouth pretty much. Aside from that many of its followers have been following it for way over a year. Thats pretty impressive in my opinoin.

Darkfall found its niche before it even went into beta. All the mmos out right now are cookie cutters or they just suck. There hasn't been a really great sand box type mmo since UO. UO has been way outdated and there is still a decent size of players that play freeshards that mimic old UO.

i would say probly 150k are active but dont follow actuvly which is fine emo they know about the game that all that matters

40k registered in August, 200k registered now.
