I have played mmo's for a long time now, since EQ1 in '99. I have seen a ton of stuff and played with some bad and good people. I have never played a F2P mmo but this one caught my attention. I have been looking into for sometime and do plan on playing when it comes out. However, I am scared. These games tend to typically attract a very... for the lack of a better term, "immature" crowd... simply because they are free and thats what you get. I am scared of this. Like I said I have played many games, I want to like this one but with a bad community I am skeptical if I will be able to hang on for that long.... anyone else in a similar boat, or anyone who has played alot of F2P games convince me otherwise? Also when the game does come out is there anyone with similar experience with mmo's looking to play together... maybe a guild.. or just a duo, trio, ect? |

That too is one of my biggest worries with RoM. It looks like it will be an amazing game - I just hope that the community doesn't spoil it as most F2P games usually end up being. |

I started with EQ and have been moving from one MMO to another for a while now I'm just playing EQ2 and waiting for Aion. This game did catch my eyes as well, and I plan on giving a try. Your fear of immature people is in its place, but then again what game out there doesn't have that! Once it comes out I'm willing to Play with you it's always nice to play with someone (it is an MMO after all) than playing solo. On a side note though I am not sure how the game is so I might not last very long in it. will see how it goes. Edit: Actually what I learnt from F2P games is that once you have good people to play with, you can just turn on your inner filter and just have a pleasant time with your nice group. |

That's what I am hoping for life. I am hoping to meet some people who are like me, know how to play mmo's or are willing to learn and just experience the game. I am now playing Warhammer online and there is just something missing from that game, I am trying to fall in love with it but... well that is neither here nor there but there is something missing from my mmo life and I really want RoM to give me back what is missing. |

Warhammer... I've enjoyed RoM closed beta more than the recent p2p releases, and i definetly gave them a fair shot. Currently I'de have to say the community is very good in RoM. There are of coarse some immature people but every game has them. There are some very good groups of people playing, very helpful and mature. There are some guilds already established that are 18+, Im sure you can get in with a good group. Best of Luck! |

This game is like a pay per play game. have all features and more than the best games. I was playin it for the all beta test and i saw that is an spectacular gae. without a doubt the best free game, and better than alot of p2p. And there are alot of mature guilds. Only ou have to find the right people to have a good experience. |

You can look at their forum, it's a good way for seeing what kind of comunity the game has. Doesn't seem too bad for me. I'm concerned with the language factor. There seems to be a lot of german speakers. |

I've been in the closed beta for 6 weeks and surprisingly the in-game chat has been reasonably mature and flame wars are almost non-existent. Compared to other F2P games I've played (and even some P2P games) the players are generally well-behaved.
However, take this with a grain of salt. The open beta is about to start and there will be many more players. It will be interesting to see if player behaviour and chat deteriorates. |

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I too have played all kinds of MMO'S since EQ1. None have ever compared. With that said, I have played my share of F2P mmo's and this is by far the best. I played in CB which is now closed, but Open beta will start on Monday. I have to say the chat was surprisingly mature, and as stated before almost no flame wars at all. I can not say what will happen with OB, but CB was a joy and this game definatly merits a try. Best F2P i have ever played. Very nice game in all aspects , graphics, and substance. |

I would never play this game just based on reputation of the company that is hosting the game. Have a look at their Bounty Bay Online english forum (as they also have a german forum) This will give you an indication of what you can expect. |

But look at their TCoS support, they are really listening to the community! I think they are really comited to RoM und TCoS, that was the reason why they neglected BBO. |

Funny how one negative remark brings out frogster.. that just so happens to be the controlling company of Yusho.. the hosting company. Scared that the bad reputation you developed from BBO will carry over and affect your other games? So they are giving RoM and TSoC all the attention and now just ignoring or letting the BBO world rot in hell. This just further proves my point about the ethics of this company. Once they have sucked the money out of you they just ignore you. The same will happen for RoM and TSoC once a new game comes along and they have sucked all the money out of the RoM and TSoC players. I'll just say it again. Play this game knowing that they will close you down even after they say they won't close your server. That's what happened to BBO. Community manager says "we won't close the server" 2 weeks later they announce the p2p server is closing and an offer to start back on their f2p server from scratch with new characters is offered. |

unfortunetly i am one among many who go deeply screwed by company thats behind this game. like said in previous post u can freely look up at bounty bay forum and read what ppl there are saying about this company. they care until they get back money they invested and earn some extra. after that players are on their own till they get deleted. if u browse forum u can read about 100 or more suggestion from players to company in over 1 year. u know how many they considered.....0 after 1 year in game is not easy to give up on something u been workin on for 1 year. but company said, u not profitable, we are launching new game and we need ur server to host it. server was alive for 13 month exactly. 10 days before annoucnement they were convincing and promising to players something like this will never happen 10 days after that announcement was made... server is closing, we ll delete ur characters and your only option is to create character on item mall version game server and we ll get u some IM stuff (a monthly fee we were paying). of course ppl that paid for some extra months cant retrieve money back so ppl are stuck there now till they get deleted. option to receive back money paid for last months was rejected by company after series of protests they made announcement saying : we ll let u know in 2 months if we can do something ( thats few weeks before official death of server) - meaning please continue paying us subscripion and we dont care about u. well when someone hosting game says he needs 2 months to 'maybe' do something for community thats financing them for over and year, that tells me enough. so im suggesting to all of u to rather avoid this game and anything that comes from this company. they ll stick into ur arse till they earn enough money and than will delete ur character and go after some new game and new profit avoid frogstar/yusho, dont give them chance to kick u in the balls!!!!

After playing the game I can say that the comunity is nice. That really surprised me. And there will not be any problems concerning language as I expected since they will open different servers for each one. I don't know about the other games frogster provided but in ROM they are doing a decent job. Do you really expect that any company will maintain any game that isn't lucrative? They sure aren't charity organizations.

Since its free, yes, you are going to run into your average immature kiddy types because it's free.. But i'm sure its very easy to /ignore people, even if its 25% of the server so that you can enjoy the game.. The thing that I am looking to watch about is the foreign RMT market.. The bots, and hacks, and gold selling.. If this company does not get it in check early hard and fast, then this can and will get ugly quite fast.. This is one fairly thoughtout F2P though, and I am pretty impressed how they did not opt to take the same ol approach.. This and Atlantica could be the changing faces of F2P's from here on out.. “There are dread secrets that none may know and have peace. More, secrets that render whosoever knoweth them an alien unto the tribe he belongs to, that cause him to walk alone on earth, for he who takes, pays.” -E. Hoffmann Price |

My suggestion...jump into the water(yes I mean the game) and start swimming.See what it's like....go on the games forums and tell others the kind of guild and people you want to play with....I bet you find them.
(you have to invest a little time to possibly get a nice return) |

I feel the same way to an extent about the community, but it's pretty easy to ignore people and find a few good apples in a bad crowd. Not saying the crowd will be bad, but there are always both mature and immature people in MMOs. I would say you will have WAY more kids joining in OB compared to CB, so I wouldn't use CB as an example as to what the community will be like totally when the servers go up. But, like I said, I wouldn't fear it too much because even if 75% of a community is poor you really only need to find a good few people out of the other 25% to enjoy your stay in a game. |
