At least GW is a G for game. A lot of the other MMOs out there I'm not so sure about. And if they are not games how can they be labeled M for multiplayer? I would suggest more like mutiple appearences on an interactive screensaver. How can I claim this? Grinding is contrary to gaming and GW is one of the few if not the only grindfree ORPG. G for game or grindfest. |

well then buddy GUILD WARS is Massive...its got way more than 10000 as a matter of fact Guild Wars has Millions Of players playing it right now around the world. Arena Net has confirmed that it has sold over 5 million Accounts since it's launch date.
Guild Wars is nothing Massive. When you leave the city to enter the world and play the game you are alone with your 6 people party and you will NEVER see anyone else. Wow... 6 people... and you will never meet anyone else while playing outisde of the cities....truely massive And who cares if they have sold many game boxes and have many players playing the game? It's like saying the other online FPS games whith their 8 or 16 players max are MASSIVE, they have also sold millions of boxes (see, the FPS games have 2 or 3 times more simultaneous players than guild wars, and when you are at the server select screen there are hundreds of people there, it's like the guild wars cities). And I am not even talking about the over instanced world. No there's nothing massive there. It's still a good multi player game though. And no, it's in no way free 2 play. I can't download it and play without paying, like other f2p games. It also isn't a subsciption based game like some mmorpgs. It's a pay 2 play multi player game, like unreal tournament and the other FPS games. |

more game devs need to adopt GW's pricing strat. just make charge for each optional patch rather than a manditory payment. paying for content is the future. charging THAT much just to keep servers running is a rip off. |

Spend alot compared to 0 for the game and 0 for monthly pay. Everyone here is talking about F2P games, not the 15 a month variety. So, item shops aside, I would say paying for a box Vs paying nothing is paying a lot more. Is it worthy of it? That I let others decide but in MY experience, I have yet to encounter a F2P game worthy of my time. Nothing is ever free, at least nothing good. But GW is probably the game that gives you most bang for the buck. |

Game still has a grind, when they heavily promoted it in 2004 as having no grind where skill was rewarded not time played. I quite 5 months after launch in 05, the grind was ridiculous if you wanted the runes, skills, items and upgrades needed for a versatile pvp build (even for one single toon). Faction points didn't do squat to help, they just exchanged one grind for another, and if you weren't in a guild that won at pvp, you really didn't gain Faction points to begin with. Oh yea, and later releasing duplicate versions of the game, with everything already unlocked, really screwed over the player base for people who bought the game prior to that. It was like a cheap item mall gimmick. People could slap down $30 and unlock everything for PvP, whereas my copy that cost $50-60 at launch needed a ton of grinding. ArenaNet dropped the ball, big time. It was advertised as one thing, and came out completely different. |

You are right, there is alot more money involved in a subscription based game than Guild Wars.. But can you honestly say that Guild Wars can be compared in quality to most subscription based MMO's ? For me most US/Euro MMO's on the market is by FAR better than GW, ofcourse there will be many willing to disagree with me on this but I think there is alot more that would agree... GW is a good plattform for those that for some reason can't pay a sub but still care to play a MMO or a game somewhat close to an MMO. It's more in the league with the current crop of Free to play games that is on the market today, Atlantica, Runes of Magic and most other Asian manga games.. On the other hand, Im certain that there will always be players that like these kind of games more than most Pay to play games... In that case it's great that the choice is there, but none of these games can so far match any of the pay to play counterparts IMHO.. /Junker |

Could we please leave the Guildwars is/isnot a MMORPG argument lie dormant for a while and get back to arguing about something important, like darkfall is/isnot real OR how bad SOE did the SWG vets with the CU and NGE and can we get a pre-CU server??? Come on guys! THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS. How dare you present him with logic! Don't you understand? He fights epic fights, in epic games, with epic toons....eats epic food and takes epic dumps! He has more e..pic..icity...ness in his little finger than you have in your whole unepic body! - ChicagoCub |
