whatever happen to these type of elves? you have night and blood elves, what about the regular elves? from what i understand they are still here living among the alliance. why not add them as a playable race with their own unique class? of course we have to add another one to the horde to balance it out. maybe goblins can join the horde or how about the ogres? |

Not sure if you've seen them before or not, but there are a few high elves in the game (there's some in a hunting lodge in Loch Modan) as I recall. Although having them as a playable race would certainly be interesting, I wonder if it'd cause a bit of trouble with: 1. They look similar to Blood elves, and 2. Night elves hate them with a passion which could cause some issues amongst the Alliance. The Night elves already have an archer class with the Hunter, though. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

The blood elves are the former high elves basically. It's been awhile since I played the blood elf campaign in WC3 expansion but they took that name to honor their fallen breathren and the loss of the sunwell. I may be off but that's the jist of it. So the high elves are in the game just in the form of blood elves. |

According to lore though, there are still "pure" high elves on the Alliance side while the Blood Elves as we know them turned to fel magic to feed their addiction. Although apparently with the restoration of the Sunwell, they're no longer needing fel energy.. I haven't kept up to date with the game in quite a while so I'm a bit behind. It'll be interesting to see how they take this change of events in the game/lore. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

Trolls and Orcs hate Blood Elves as well, look how that turned out. And considering that many High Elves still remain in the Alliance, I think it's pretty safe to say that Night Elves don't hate them that much, at least anymore. As for High Elves as an actual playable race, I personally think it could work. They are nearly identical to Blood Elves, but then again look at DAOC, that game had plenty of similar-looking races on opposing sides and I don't ever recall that causing problems. From day one I've been a supporter of High Elves and Goblins as playable races. |

I see what you're getting at, but eh..I would still disagree. The NE didn't join the Alliance looking for a bunch of other races to be friends with, they did it out of necessity more than anything; most likely if they had their way they would probably kick everyone out of Kalimdor and go back to the old days. While they may now be somewhat curious about the other races in the Alliance (humans, dwarves..) that doesn't mean that they like the High Elves any better. Their whole ancient history revolves around the use/addiction of arcane magic, and after what happened it's very unlikely that they would get over that any time soon. HOWEVER, like you mentioned with the Trolls/Orcs and BE, while the game sticks to lore at times, it also goes it's own route so anything's game really. It actually confuses me as to why the human's have warlocks and let them run freely through their towns, but eh...whatever.. As for DAoC, I never played the game more than a few minutes so I can't really comment on the races..although I would say if it's been done before with no problem, then I see no reason to not add in those races as well! ------------------------------------------------------------ |

The lore really does go it's own route. But I think the fact that High Elves and Night Elves are already part of the Alliance means that they really don't need to think of any reason for them to not hate each other. Blizzard has made so many extreme changes to the lore with WoW that I honestly feel at times that it's meant to be some sort of alternate timeline. For example, you mention warlocks, aren't Orcs supposed to be completely against demonic power and dark magic? So then why do they have their own wing in Orgrimmar? As for goblins, that's exactly how I've imagined them as a playable race. It could be one faction of goblins who end coming to some sort of business agreement with the Horde, one of the clauses involing both sides providing military support. It's no more outlandish than some of the stuff Blizzard has come up with, that's for certain. |

the only difference between high elves and night elves is the name they give themselves, the only reason there are high elves in the alliance is because they prefer night elves to blood elves. originally the high elves were the nobles of the elves (or the highborn as they called themselves). then when the burning crusade invaded azzeroth, the "high elves" defended the sunwell against the "night elves" who were trying to destroy it. my lore knowledge is a little rusty but thats the general idea. technically high elves don't really exist anymore, the ones who survived the destruction of the sunwell went across the great sea to the eastern kingdoms and mutated into blood elves. |

Most High Elves deteriorated into Blood Elves when they made the journey to the Eastern Kingdoms. |

The High Elves were already in the Eastern Kingdoms for around 7,000 years before most became Blood Elves under Kael'thas. But I agree, there probably are not enough lore-wise to consider them a playable race. However, I would imagine they are making a comeback in Dalaran and elsewhere in Northrend. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

Go to Dalarn Look around at the alliance guards... ZOMG HIGH ELVES!! WTF BBQSAUCE?!!?! Yeah, they exsist in the game, they still infact have a major role in the storyline the MAIN CONFLICT IN WRATH IN DALARAN? Why HIGH ELVES VS BLOOD!!! Look up Sunreaver, hes the leader of the Blood elves in Dalaran and hes trying to get them admited into the Kirin Tor. A blood elf has GREEN eyes, a High elf has BLUE, Why? one has been corrupted by the tained magic of the sunwell so long that they have become genetically addicted to magic, and have green eyes, redish or pale white skin. High elves are free from this addiction and have healthier looking skin and BLUE eyes.
But yeah Blizz does change lore a lot. |
