Taikodom begins the selling of hoplons online Players with less time to play Taikodom, but who dream of getting the big ship and the best items that only veteran players have, can now buy hoplons (H$), a second in-game currency. The good news will become official in the game?s website on this Monday morning, December 8. To fully enjoy the benefits that buying hoplon brings, players must choose between one of the hoplon packages available on the site, the packs vary from H$ 500 and H$ 5,000. Inside the game these hoplons can be converted to taels, the common currency used in every in-game economic transaction, including free commerce between players, and in purchase of items such as ships and weapons. Hoplons also allow players to buy affiliations, which work as an exclusive club that gives its affiliates personal advantages like bigger storage deposits at stations, Access to other star systems, and fast passages by tolled portals while the Affiliation lasts, which can be 30, 90 or 180 days, depending on the plan. Along with the Affiliation benefits, players also get a proportional amount of Money in taels. Primarily, for players living outside Brazil, the purchases of hoplons and affiliations can be done by the PayPal system. |

It's currently in spanish (brazillian) voiceover - but with an english interface. English version under construction. It is definitely a slick production - I have just started it and looks rather nice. Will update later! F2P. (Ignore the cash shop). |

I tried this game when I saw it in another post I think. Everything was good up until I hit open space and it lagged so bad I couldn't do anything. Is this game Java based? Is there a fix for the laggy game play? |

Just wondering. Can you walk around the inside of your ship, can you walk around inside a space station, and can you land on a planet and walk around the planet? When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there! |

I downloaded and have been playing the game for hours now. It's not too bad of a game, more casual friendly than Eve. I could actually see myself adding this to my games playing list once they get some major issues fixed, such as the god awful lag when you got more than 10 objects moving around you. It becomes one heck of a slideshow. I know that it is in Beta and can live with that until it's addressed. It also has one huge memory leak, after several hours you will have to log out if you are able, it seems to be more on their end and once they reset their servers, your good to go for another few hours or until you got a bunch of folks or npc's dogfighting with you and then it's a toss up on who gets the lucky "I got you between the lag spikes shot". They have some sort of crafting, was still sorting that out when I decided enough of the lag for tonight. I will be keeping an eye on this one and playing it as well to see if this can become my E & B void filler. Sorry for the ramble or lack of directed thought, going on 72 hours now with the flu and my thoughts ain't working so well. Give it a shot if you like space MMO's, you might actually like it.

What makes things worse is that the ships and stations completely lack imaination. They are very bland and boring. That being said the game is worth watching to see how it develops. I played worse F2P games then this lately. |

Except that in EvE they are getting walking in stations and ships later this year [id say Q2-3]. And Its in English. Netherless Taikodom is a good attempt at making a good sci-fi spaceship MMO which is a rarety right now. Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981 |

Are you guys really comparing this Cash shop, laggy, buggy mess to EvE Online? You guys have finally lost it. Taikodom is a crap F2p like every other crap F2p. You guys see space ships and automatically say its like EvE? What an insult.

I tried it for about an hour. It's a nice change for a f2p compared to all the fantasy ones. It does kind of copy some aspects of EVE, but comes nowhere near the depth of EVE gameplay. It's worth a try if you're bored, just don't expect too much, I've yet to find a player speaking english. |

Before begin with the insult thing, maibe you should read a little more. The guys only said you cannot walk out of the ship like in EVE. Take a deep breath pal, no one say this F2P game is like EVE only that the game as some similars features. And what do you expect, all F2P game try to copy the good games. |

One of the differences is that Eve is more about buttons (commanding) where taiko seems a arcade-rpg hibrid. |

No PvP or player-driven scenarios or environment? I'd be just as bored playing CoH, WoW, etc. I'll have to look into it more.
I'll try however to see what its all about. Micro-transaction systems dont bother me. Macro-transaction systems, though, do. Macro-Transaction System games that bait players into buying a $50 box and $15/month for over-glorified single-player rpg's masquerading as a real player-influenced and driven environment like WAR, AoC or WoW. I steer clear of the blatent PvE centric mmo's like LotRO or CoH since I cant get past the realization that they are nothing more than a single-player game with no more multi-player advantages where you get charged an additional $15 to see other players.
The nice thing about Micro-Transaction like Atlantica Online and RoM and we'll see about this one is that there is absolutely no in-game competitive advantage and it allows players an opportunity to pay at their own pace if they feel the game is worth getting a 30-day teleportation or easier travel item. /shrug Big deal. |

Originally posted by Silok As an aside, Eve is the worst example of a rip-off Macro-transaction system siphoning monthly fees from subscribers since I have to sit in a hanger for my skills to advance at the games pace rather than at the pace I'd want to from game-play contribution. I'll take a Micro-Transaction system over that fleecing Macro-Transaction system anytime where your held hostage to have your skills advance based on how many months your continuously subscribed to the game. |

"For this game to work properly, you will need to have java installed on your computer" That pretty much sums the game up, means at least parts of it, if not all of it is written in Java, hence it is not worth bothering with. Java is designed for anything BUT games. If you waste time downloading this you will regret it. |
