Calling the bible "Historic" is reaching a bit for it. If you don't believe that, try put all the worlds animals in a small boat. While some of the storys in the bible actually have some archeological evidence, most of it is at best doubtful. To call something historical you need at least another source, and you need something written down by an eye witness. Most of the old testament is written down a long time after. Off course it is impossible for me to prove that something didn't happen but to call something history you need to prove that it did. No, I don'tbelieve in this, first off all you would offend some people whatever you do. Secondly, few parts of the bible have enough lore to actually make an intresting game. The Crusades on the other hand would make a really great historic MMO. |

Haha, brilliant idea. Ofcourse it will get an uproar in the religious community since the bible, especially the old testament is full of all kinds of sick shit religion conveniently forgot and don't talk about. You got everything in that book; mass homecide, rape, sex, murder, incest, jealusy, drug abuse, alcoholism, killing of children (by divine will even Actually when I think about it, better not. The amount of ignorant hatred we gamers get from the likes of parent groups and people like Hillary Clinton, Jack Thompson and Fox News will pale in comparison to the hate, and probably laws backed by religious lobby groups, we will get if ever such a game was made and become mainstream and popular. Just too many different beliefs to please. Funny though as they are all based on the same thing, and the two leading religions this world got originates from the same source, a dude with a crapload of wifes and even more kids who went around and called himself Abraham. |

The bible is at best, metaphorical stories to teech young children morals, and at worst, a certain roman emperor's corrupt interpretation of the word of god. Fact is that the bible has some great stories, but to those eof us who prefer to keep both feet firmly on the ground(and not flailing as we fall from a 200 foot cliff due to a leap of faith), that's all they are, stories with life lessons. As for good and evil, they are merely fanciful concepts. Interesting ones at that, but concepts. I'm sure most of us think that Adolf Hitler was an evil man, however, my guess is he didn't share the same opinion. So we rationalize it by saying he was crazy, but to him, everyone else were the crazy ones. While you're at it, why not make an MMORPG about the political parties in the United States, I;m sure that has plenty to do with good and evil, and is probably just about as interesting. It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay. |

I think some people out there, will tell you that your already living it, I mean what do you think the term,"BC" as in,"10,000 BC!" mean's, it's not," Before Christ " it meant," Beta, Closed" they didn't bother with an open beta as they had only six days before it opened and went live, wasn't a good opening as well, only two human's showed up and there was only the training area called the," the Garden of Eden' and the moderator was a real Nazi who banned them almost straight away for eating ingame, dumped them outside on the test server to fend for themselves, wasn't much fun, only swamps and jungle's and killer you name it's roaming everywhere, one map really was all there was, so they tried splitting the map up into different area's, then into smaller maps, by this time more humans had shown up, then after awhile there was to many humans and then they started to complain or they wanted more, some thought the other half had it better, and to top it all off, No one as heard from the developer since the opening. Not to mention it was advertised as a Free to play, but it has so many hidden cost's and ingame shop's, no I say we stick to the games we know and luv, that also have a working and active support system in place.

I wouldnt say that to people in real life? Oh really......and why is that exactly? I can say it and I do say it. Whats the big deal? Why do people make such a big deal about showing religion respect when thats the reason why religion has become such a dominant aspect in our lives. Religion is just a theory and its really nothing more than that so anyone who says it is DEFINATELY true is clearly a nut job. For something to be 100% true there needs to be some solid evidence to back it up. No religion can provide this evidence in any shape or form apart from an ancient book written by uneducated and power hungry men. Therefore its all just a theory and people have no reason to get offended about it. I've got some theories about life that I think are likely and possible but I never get so attached to them that I actually tell people that they are definately real cos thats just stupid. Many people totally believe that there is a giant invisible alien life force that creates everything and also exists inside everything. They also believe that it secretly wants everyone to do jobs for it and that somehow lack of proof of its existence is simply a test of blind stupid faith. Oh and it also had a special son in the shape of a human that died a few thousand years ago but got reanimated as a zombie and its spirit now watches over everything despite the fact that it doesnt need to because the invisible alien life force was already doing that. Also anyone who doesnt believe this is going to be tormented in hell forever even though this alien force apparently loves you despite the fact that love is a human emotion. Oh yeah and this invisible alien life force also made us in its own image.......so it looks like a person but it also doesnt look like a person because it is everywhere. People also believe that this invisible alien force talks to them and yet there are people with severe mental conditions that claim the same thing. Do they get taken seriously? Why should I respect this when this crazy religion states that anyone who doesnt agree with it is going to be damned? I treat it with the same respect that it treats me. |

God doesnt state anything. Only people do that because obviously we're the only ones that are physically capable of doing it. People wrote that book and they wrote it in gods name to stop people from questioning it. Clearly it worked. There is nothing like a fear based religion to get things done |

i have no doubt that i would be arrested withinn seconds of me beginning to preach that all religion is inherrently bad because of all the wars it creates and to stop all the needless death all religions should be banned but im getting off topic id say there wouldnt be a religion based MMO unless it was something like holy war online where you level by killing people who dont worship your god (faction) but than it would just be a giant rvr game based on real religions which is not a sound IP and so would never get from concept to production |

.......and there is nothing wrong with that. If a man and women have sex for pleasure only and not to have a baby then does that mean its a sin? Obviously not so logically gay sex is fine too......but of course logic doesnt sit well with religion does it. People should just ditch the bible because its clearly VERY out of date. Use yours brains instead and figure things out with common sense. There is no reliable guide book on life. |

The constant quotation of 'Sodom & Gomorrah' & the derivation of the word 'Sodomy' are just examples of how easily religions can be permanently subverted by the prejudice & personal agendas of past leaders. It doesn't explicitly describe what activities were the cause of the divine wrath & talks about 'Strange Flesh' or women that did not know their place. The homophobic interpretations weren't introduced until a few hundred years ago & 'Sodomy' originally just meant 'Wickedness'. This is the main reason that the Bible would make an awful MMO, it is incredibly vague & wide open to willful misinterpretation depending on the personal agenda of the reader. It also contradicts itself rather a lot & God seems to undergo a complete personality change from a psycho to a hippy in the second half. Grats to the OP though for opening a 'Can of Worms' that could easily 'Feed the Five Thousand'. PS. I wasn't commenting on the post by Cukimunga as such, it just seemed like a good one to quote. If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"? |

HEY, before you release another good versus evil low fantasy MMO with no elves and no dwarves and dumb romans, can you PLEASE choose another religious universe. Like buddhism, with flying mantra chanting kung-fu monks and epic quests from buddha? Or Zoroastrianism, were every one rolls a mighty creature of pure evil because angelic beings are so underpowered... Or a Wiccan MMO, that would rock, gothic witches chant crits, with bonfires as stationary turrets, and demons... pardon, evil spirits as raidbosses, all kinds of silver nacklaces as items and brooms as flying mounts, upgradeable with afterburners and living purple scrying orbs as your familiars... The trouble with these existing IP's is that everyone wants to be the main characters. Lord of the Rings, everyone wants to be Legolas or something. Legolaz, Legolass, etc. Star Wars, everyone is going to be Luke Skywalker, or Duke Skywalker, or Luke Skiwalker. The Bible, everyone is going to be Jesus, or Jezuz, or Jebus.
