Hello there fellow gamers

I played this on the 360 when released on the format , and enjoyed it quite alot. Since then i have played wow, lotr,eve and will continue to do so ,also severel others that i enjoy but cant afford them all , eg AOC, Warhammer d@d to name a few. Now over the past week ive seen some posts about people wanting to return to this game , so it has got thinking shall i ?.

1. Is the pop still good ?

2. Do you think it has got alot of life still in it ?

Two simple questions ,as i allready know i like the game but the answers to these can make a huge difference.

I will still continue to play the above games aswell but looking for something else and always enjoyed my time in FF.

And im going for the 360 version so i can play when the wifes on pc , thats the other reason i was thinking about this in all honesty.

1. Population on my server hovers around 3500 players at prime time (using the /sea all command)... Odin is so crowded they are offering free server transfers. I'm sure there are some dead servers, but Fairy, Ifrit, Kujata, Odin, Hades, Asura and Bahamut all have higher populations it seems.

2. FFXI is the best group-based PVE game on the market... and believe it or not, not everyone wants a solo carebear grind that all the "other" games offer... so the demand for a group-based mmo is there, and FFXI fills it. It's got plenty of life in it!

The population is still really good.  FFXI seems to have a pretty big surge of new players lately due to the updates and with the upcoming updates they'll probably get more.  However, please keep in mind that when you're choosing a home, more people does not always mean a better server.  I'm trying to dispel this myth on these boards that people have seemed to taken on.  More people means more people to group with but it also means competition for very limited resources, NM spawns, and party spots.  So as it does have bonuses, it has negatives too.

I think it has a lot of life still in it.  So does SE which is the most important thing.  They have 3 Mini expansions coming out next year that is going to bring new content to the game.  Plus, they're just starting to really get the newest expansion rolling mission wise and with the new players coming in, the game seems to be getting stronger which is mind blowing after 6 years.  Last census showed 500,000 active players and I'm willing to bet the next one will very much show an increase of around 10,000.  That doesn't seem like a lot in terms of MMO's but 6 years and gaining people back?  That's impressive in my book.

Well thanks for the help guys, i picked up the pc version today with wings of goddess for 15 pound so im happy with that , and will pick up xbox version before xmas. Writing this while im waiting for update (long wait so far) looking forward to this evening .

What server are you going to be playing on? If I can recommend one to you, join Fairy.
