Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

Well after the latest posts on the official forum it is pretty much(if not)100% at least the UK guys wont be on the EU server's,11 countires will as for the other 37 countries(?) it isnt certain they will be either. I really enjoyed being part of the offical forums and posting what info I could on this and other forums but I wont be playing the game now,I do still wish the title all the best, only because the devs and mods are really nice people and I hope they at least get some reward for all there hard work. As for me and this game,I guess all I can do is leave you with a song. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wr50NZIB1g enjoy :)

Now just this plain stupidity of this launch has also made me shy away from it. Well guess I been a couple years without a decent MMO to play...what is a couple more years? |

Really like the game (finally something different), really sad I won't be able to play... There is no way I'm going to play on US servers... all my friends are in Portugal and I'm in the UK... MMOs are a way of keeping in touch... |

Agree...Aion looks like the next game of choice. I had told my wife she was buying me 'TCoS' as a Christmas gift. Guess I will hafta settle for that 'Buck Rodgers of the 21st Century' series DVD set n wait till next year for Aion. |

I'm a non-UK European, I don't play with people from the UK on a regular base and I somehow don't feel like I will be playing on non-Euro servers. Still, the decision to force people to play on the servers they may play on according to the publishers' whim is going to have an impact on me. If for no other reason than it certainly hurting game sales and thus, in the long run, the survivability of the game altogether. Now, I should be happy, shouldn't I? At least this should mean that no china farmers will invade my server either and I should finally be spared of the "buy gold cheap" spam. But first, I feel they will somehow find a way to do it regardless, and second, it's a minor nuisance compared with playing for a year or two and then going away empty handed because the game failed as a financical success because it lacks players. And this is what will happen when this strategy is upheld. MMOs are amongst the most expensive, if not the most expensive, project you can do in the field of computer games. They also can be the most profitable ones due to recurring income instead of single sales. But only if you have people playing it. Or at least paying for it. MMOs are, if anything, a social kind of game. People even keep subscribing and playing long after they actually lose interest because "their guild needs them". Now, MMOs didn't come into existance yesterday, there are already guilds in existance. Guilds that cross country borders or even span continents. In some games, it was even more or less a necessity to have players from all over the globe, e.g. because you needed people 24/7 to defend your castles or area against rival players, which you can't do sensibly if 99% of your players hail from the same country. So player groups that cross borders and continents do exist. And they move from game to game together. Not all, of course, and usually not without good reason, but since a few games are currently folding or in a rather sorry state, player guilds are looking for a new home. As is my guild right now. And they will want to continue playing together. If a game does not offer that option, they will not choose this game. And that's not one lost sale, it's a dozen, or rather a few dozen of copies and subscriptions, that go to another MMO. |

I don't think it's a case of deciding what's best for players. It's all about money, distribution rights, localization and stuff. It's probably a case of the publisher (Acclaim) saying (just a wild guess): "If we get distribution rights for NA, we want UK too, or else we won't do it". Anyway, it definitely IS an early warning sign that publishers (not so much the devs in this case, I think) don't care about players. This whole UK/EU split is one of the worst ideas I have seen recently, apart from the pricing scheme of Hellgate. It's over the top, and it completely ignores any common sense. I wish TCoS good luck. They will need it. ------------------------------------------------ Playing: Guildwars, single player games |

well i played another game where ppl got splited like this. its called 2Moons(also published by acclaim) in north america and Dekaron in europe. at the beginning there was just 2Moons and the game seemed very big and populated. later a european company (gametribe) bought the right to publish it in europe and so both sides began to ip block the other ones. well and now im playin the europe version and it feels like a private server. there is just one server and everyone know eachother. i always loved mmos because u can play with ppl all over the world but it seems that more and more devs sellin their games to different publishers. i was realy lookin forward to play this game especially since im in the closed beta but now this game is dead to me. ps: deadlight im also waitin for aion. and its good to see that aion will be published by the same company which developed it so there wont be any splitin i hope. |

This was surely not a smart move, the open beta that started yesterday felt pretty empty. I think I saw 10 different players during that hour I played. No talking in the channels what so ever. Very different from the Closed Beta. They made such an expensive mistake |
