Acclaim has announced that The Chronicles of Spellborn will launch in North America in January of 2009.

Acclaim Games officially updates the release schedule for The Chronicles of Spellborn MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). With additional testing and ongoing game improvements, Acclaim’s release schedule has been updated with Closed Beta testing to begin on November 27 and a new release date scheduled for January 2009. Acclaim’s licensed territories for Spellborn will include North America, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and South America.

When the European countries go live on November 27, Acclaim will simultaneously start Close Beta testing in its territories and then go live in January 2009. Both launches will have the exact same product versions featuring identical Freemium models but with a different release date to accommodate additional testing for a smooth official release. Extensive testing of the game will ensure players receive the highest quality gaming experience at launch.

With players around the world eagerly anticipating the launch of Spellborn, the game has undergone some key upgrades to allow more players to participate and enjoy the various features of the online game. In all regions, Spellborn will be a “Freemium” game, with a Free to Play zone and a required premium subscription service in order to access the full game past the Free to Play zone.

We can thank Acclaim for dropping the ball on this.

The worst part is the EU servers will still be going LIVE (not beta) on the release date they set.

As well, the game was delayed 6 months prior to this to help Acclaim get it's act together.

The only game that might have been worth a darn this year with low hype, and an indie developer who tried something new is messed up for the North American / AU / NZ audience thanks to Acclaim fail!

Sad!

Yea, I was really ready for this. I think its good to make sure the game is ready though. I guess its back to Lineage 2 then.

I am a closed beta player. Without going into details I like to say that the game is great. It has an unique look and feel with the music being spot on. And I really like the combat, it's a fresh change from all those EQ clones (that includes WoW ).

Better they get the game working than put out one that has issues.

NDA has dropped, so if you would like to share more in the Spellborn forum and maybe some REAL screenshots would be cool

Thanks

Regristration has been disabled on the forums or I would share. I actually registered awhile back and forgot my info. But it seems the lost information link is tied to registration. I might throw up a blog here soon.

I don't know if the NDA is dropped or not, thats why I don't post ingame stuff.. But to add to my previous post, the client is very stable only had 1 crash with 2 weeks playing. Also I am running on max settings. This is my system:

Intel Q9450
8GB DDR2
ATI 4870, 512MB
Creative X-Fi soundcard
Using Vista 64bit

Compared to the WoW beta I played for 6 months, this client is more stable and the game has less ingame issues.

The even scarier part.... When the beta testers do not even know that NDA has been dropped..

That is bad..

Look here

Now that NDA is lifted

Well.. I generaly don't care if a NDA is dropped or not.. I am there to play the game to test it not to inform others about it

So you come to MMORG.com to play Spellborn...not discuss it?

How odd.

All we asked was for someone to share their feelings about the game and show some screenshots...it is fine you do not wish to share...seems silly, but cool for you.

Thanks for visiting!

I did share the things I think I could share. I was/am not aware if any NDA is lifted. But enough said, everybody can play a free trial and I suggest people to do so.
