Ok, so these forums get trolled alot by people apparently on some kind of personal crusade against Darkfall. We all know most of them are just angsty, spotty little teenagers who got butt-hurt because someone on the Darkfall forums called them nasty names. But the sheer volume of dedicated trolling means that, statistically, some of them must have been hired to drag Darkfall's name through the mud by one company or another. The question is, who!? And thus I have come up with the most scientific, objective method of determining which company is to blame - baseless speculation! So I ask the question, ignorant hysterical masses of MMORPG.com; Which company are the trolls hired by?

When fanboism seem to slow down a bit, and people seem to get their senses back, even acting like ordinary people for a change.. Out comes another religious fanatic and drags the discussion all the way back down to "Stupid Silly level".... Just grow up ok? Please? This was once a mature, civilised and above all constructive MMO site... Last two years it has turned into.. well... you.... |

What's funny is the fact that you would even believe that any company would actually care enough about Darkfall to hire and pay people to run around the net and make posts about it. Here's a clue for you -- Darkfall is already seen as a joke by 90% of this industry. There's no need to hire people to make it look even worse. It manages to do that all on it's own. Where do you think the "trolls" are getting fuel from? that's right.. Aventurine itself or more precisely -- all their BS'ing. |

Don't think they're hired, who will hire the scum of the interwebz?. They're probably between 20-40yrs living home, are unemployed and camping videogame forums most of their time. They think they'll knows better than anyone else, cause they spending their entire day lurking game sites. Internet communities are their domains -they think- and wont listen to anyone that's wont share their oppinion. They're like that 'Angry Nintendo Nerd' but for real. ______________________________ __________________________________

I don't think people have anything against DF per se, but rather against the fanboys. People question how you can become so attached to a game that has no tangible evidence other than a few screenshots here and a video there. Despite the lessons of AoC et al, people still stumble into the same old hype-trap. The only way to surive this industry as a gamer without going completely do-lally is to be a realist and a cynic. |

We really didn't think we'd ever need to explain the obvious, but sadly a few of you have been asking: There's a pet troll/stalker we've had with us for about 3 years, the ex webmaster of a now apparently defunct MMO project, who's been sending private messages through our boards, and posting for whoever will listen, claiming that Darkfall is/was up for sale among other things. This of course, along with everything else he's been saying over the years has nothing to do with reality. This guy has been sending us hundreds of email messages for about 3 years from his home computer, apparently unaware that hotmail reports the originating IP. The content of the emails ranges from hate mail, to spam about his game, to threats, to childish attempts at impersonating publishers, investors etc. He's also been diligently, trying to slander Darkfall on game boards, again from his home PC and using a lot of aliases. While this has been amusing, in a village idiot kind of way, it's about time we clarified for those who are susceptible to buying into this pathology. This kind of thing has happened before, and it's extremely sad to see the ugly face of what some people think are competitive practices. Up until now, the Darkfall official board moderation policies have been focused on allowing everyone to freely express their opinions about the game. This is in sharp contrast to most other MMO communities which are very strongly moderated. This freedom however has been taken for granted and taken advantage of by a few people. I'm afraid that we'll consider suggesting stronger moderation of the boards if this trend continues. It is not Fenril. This is the 17 year old kid who used to run the Mourning project. I read some links in the off topic boards recently and there were some people that actually caught up with this dude and found all of his aliases including Myspace etc. Apparently he thinks he has the netfluence to go around and do important things when in reality all hes managed to do is a whole lot of nothing. I find it funny that he claims DF is a joke when Mourning was probably the most pathetic excuse for a would-be scam I've ever seen. Surly posted some links on the dude in the off-topic boards. Apparently some people actually researched him and exposed him pretty badly. http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=30704

This is a good example on my view of an troll, a litle older and everything is set. I mean, do you wanna challange him on Super Mario Bros time attack? No didn't think so. Eating contest, no? What do you think this boy doing right now? Doing surgery removing a tumor? No, didn't think so either. He probably spare his time at MMORPG.com trying to be a smartass anoying normal people.

I'd say there's about a 90% percent chance the game is going to be incredibly buggy, clunky, with missing features and very poor balance. 70% chance those problems are serious enough to make the game unplayable. I've played UO, EVE, SWG and Shadowbane upon their respective launches. I'm nothing but realistic when it comes to what a sandbox MMO is going to be like on launch. I just felt like having a bit of fun at the troll's expense for once with this thread. And they're falling for it! |
