btw i havent had to grind at all in AION OB (as in only grinding not quest grinding) but i guarentee that you will have some amount of grinding in darkfall as in every game. it just depends if its all coverd by quests or just simply thats all you can do to lvl.

That said i dont know a single person whos tested darkfall, has there even been a test?? lol

but these types of arguments are rather pointless, as i doubt anyone has played both to be able to make a comparison.

 

Sorry to disappoint you, but no leveling in Darkfall. You get your "skills" up when using them (but they decrease if you stop using them) meaning you don't have to grind but can also "skill up" when PvPing, PvEing, Sparring with your friends or do whatever you want. Sure, you CAN grind, but there's no special motivation (no random drops; what you see is what you get) to do so. Also, even mobs of the same type differ (skilllevel, equipment, etc) so the traditional repeating won't exist even if you choose to "grind" (whihc, of course, you don't have to).

Aion leveling gap is minimal and you also level your skills there (from 1 to 9) by using them, once you reach the level cap, which takes around 15 days for the hardcore players, there's no more "level based" system. Aion progression is more about skills mixed with gear, its not a leveling game. Then you reach level 50 and go for stigmas, which will provide you with new skills, and once you have, level them up to 9. You can use 5 stigmas at the same time.

The only "grind" I can see there is an abyss points grind (You get abyss points through raiding, siegeing, killing enemies in pvp, doing some quests in the abyss and killing the enemy faction's NPC's) since the best abyss gear is a bit expensive (abyss points is a non tradeable coin, bb RMT).

Who can tell before I tried them?

Still, I'd go for Aion at the moment, he movies I seen from it looks better but gameplay is far more than you can see in a simple video, I need to try them both before saying any more.

My sig answers this question. I was once a fan of DF but I hoped the fence once I realized it wont shape up to what it promises. Adventurine is being way to shady. When an MMO company starts acting shady something is majorly wrong.

Yea there is a lot of skepticism regarding Darkfall. However they seem to be pretty far in the process... I mean the anticipation is already so great, and so much has been promised. I don't know what would happen if all of the sudden the devs say the game is delayed for another year.

Aion, as long as it plays like a traditional mmorpg ala EQ1 style or Vanguard style, with those amazing graphics is glitch free and has that inspiring music ill be cool with that game for years!

DNL was a good game and a great concept. It just had some problems. Problems Darkfall didn't have.

When you get an expert to help u building an engine and the expert leaves in the middle of development AND has made a terrible code AND sues you.. That can mess with things. Darkfall didnt have that.

 Two completely different games, and one is much more likely to actually come out let alone live up to its promises than the other. This topic really isn't nessiary and has resulted in the expected flame war.

I'd go for Darkfall.

Even though Aion might have more detailed graphics, they look too fluffy to me...

Personally playing AoC and waiting for Champions online.

But if I had to chose between the two I would pick Darkfall.

Aion has the look of a Korean F2P game with a little more polish. I don't like the flashy combos and over the top Asian style of the game.

I doubt I will play either one to be honest.

Wow you are a very angry person.

I dont know enough about aion to really pass judgement.  But at first glance and from beta reports it looks like just another round of slightly evolved WoW in the form of an asian grinder with pretty ADD graphics.  Will probably do well for itself.

Im obviously a huge fan of DF.  Last MMO i have any faith in so if it falls through im done.  Id rather put my hope in a game that offers something amazing than slowly waste my life away in the WARs etc of the genre.
