Like the topic said, will there be WoW like raid doungens? I really dont care much for pvp even though it can be fun sometimes in really large battles. I loved the WoW raids, but after 3 years im looking for a fresh setting. It is kinda anoying too that blizzard dumbs the doungens down after a few months. I really dont like zerg raids or "open" dungeons where you need to camp or fight to get the boss kill.
also i couldnt find any info if the character advancement beyond the cap lvl will be purly item driven, or if there will another system whatever that maybe to improve you charakter. |

Open world raids, limited dungeons in number with open world enviroment, and some instances for small groups. So there will be zerg tank and spanks mixed with pvp, fight to get the boss kill which requires strategy, and instances. There is items progression and skills progression (stigma) when the cap level ends, and also pvp advancement with a "hero" system.
This game has PvE, but it isn't a PvE focused game, it's about PvPvE |

Hmm sadly that dosent sound too appealing in the raid department for me. I read about the stigma stuff, but my understanding was that these runes, or what ever they are called, are fittet in 1 of maximal 5 slots and can be changed afterwards, that makes em basically items wich just dont go in standart armor slots. Well and they give skills or abillitys you wouldn have normally, still i would consider them as items. My definition of non item driven advancement would be the possibilty to increase your chars stats permenently without the need to equip something. A bonus you cant lose no matter what you equip.
Thank you for your answer anyway, i didnt find a clear statement about raids in Aion, even though i wished for a diffrent answer. |

The thing is raids aren't the main focus of the game. However I'm sure after the Korean OB or release there will be more info for you. You might want to check back then ;) If you are looking for an intense raiding end game this may not be the game for you. Though I am not at all qualified in any way to make that call, it's really a guess. (,,,)=^__^=(,,,)Game Latte Vidcast |

And I'm also guessing that they won't necessarily leave the idea of raiding out for the primary focus of PvP or PvPvE because they stated that raiding would actually help benefit your faction in the war in some way, shape or form. That leads me to belive that they'll have some meat in the raids department as well. Although I'm not 100% sure that the PvPvE was what they meant when they stated this (this would require you to risk PvP in the abyss if it was). |

If I wanted a crafting centric game I'd play Ryzom, well I'd play Ryzom more. ;) There should be a bit of everything for any kind of player in Aion, but the first and foremost attention will always be given to PvP I believe. Which quite frankly it's about time there's a game like this, well after WAR and that other game from Funcom... I'm just saying if you are a heavy raider, WoW and Eq2 are probably better, heck Eq2 is nothing but raids at end game and the next expansion is going to do away with a lot of the raiding headaches. If OP likes raids AND has an interest in PvP or likes the idea of what such an environment might bring (not everyone would), then Aion is most awesome, we think. ;) *fingers crossed* (,,,)=^__^=(,,,)Game Latte Vidcast |

As I said in my original post i really dont care for pvp in mmorpgs. Open world zerg encounter or pvping over the right to kill a boss really isnt my cup of tee. I cant stand wow anymore, for the most part because the combat system wont change and it just became to simple. I actually liked the gameplay of aoc very much, but since the release of the t2 raids, wich we went through in 8 days, there hasent been any new raidcontent. Well and after the patching FC did the last 6 months its really hard to believe in that game. I will keep watching Aion cause i really like the art style and the world design. wich actually are the main reasons i never got into EQ2, i hate their art style and world design.

@ tub0rg
Honestly dude, if I were you I'd go for Warhammer Online. Many reasons, aside from the game being at level (in my opinion) with WoW, it also has a good population. I don't play it cause I hated the service (in Europe) provided by GOA.
Anyway, the best Raiding game (aside from WoW) I've heard of is Everquest 2 . Maybe you should give it a shot mate.
Aion will probably be a little too hardcore for you I believe. PvP is one of the main themes of the game, and you'll see it a lot more then in WoW. No optional PvP either mate. Keep that in mind. |

Yes, you can advoid pvp, you're not 100% pvp safe though, but you can get around 90% safe if you choose to progress slowly and miss a huge part of the content. |

Oh I don't know about hardcore. Sure there's pvp but unless you go into the abyss, the only pvp you will run into is when a random portal opens up between the sides. Quite frankly I think that as long as a pve player isn't completely against being ganked on occassion they should do well. However the game is more pvp focused so it won't appeal to somone who ONLY wants to PvE. |

Yep, I don't PvP, it doesn't do anything for me. But I'm not averse to PvP in game and even a surprise attack once in a while, keeps things interesting. As long as it isn't constant and there are anti repetitive griefing then it's all good. Never tried castle sieges either and I am looking forwards to that, if I end up sucking hard I'll just resign to guild crafter, I'll make you good armor / food / potions? :P There's more then one way to enjoy the game, or at least there should be. I get ganked, pwned, crushed all the time but it don't bother me. What i hate is the smack talk afterwards. Atleast I wont have to put up with that nonsence in aion. Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries... |

I hope that the game does a good job at presenting the story and have enough PvE content thats actualy more than just go kill x number of these or bring me these type quest tier after tier till max level. I know theres going to be those type of quest but I just hope theres enough interesting quests to make the grind quests seem less of a grind. I see that the beginning of the game has cutscenes, lets hope theres more cutscenes later on because this is a better way to tell a story than reading a text box. |

Now that's entertainment!
But seriously, the fact that they have character intro cinematics should at least be a bit of a sign that story is a big part of this game. None of that "make a character and then just get plopped into the world without explanation" stuff. |

Suggesting a pvp game to someone who is interrested in pve may seem unlogical to some people. especially since WAR has piss poor pve. if you had read my earlier post you had known that i couldnt get into EQ2 since i hate its artstyle and world design. and for the record i dont see anything hardcore in pvp. raiding 7 times a week (thats 30+ hours of raiding + 30 hours of farming or grinding) is a lot more hardcore.
