Personally I'll stick with Eve, but probably at least try Aion as well. WoW lost it's appeal for me with TBC (arenas ruined it for me, but that's neither here nor there), tried to get into EQ2 but I felt I was four years behind the power curve. Perhaps Aion will be a good fantasy MMO for me, from the videos they've released it certainly looks like it. |

Looks like it will be a good year. Personally looking forward to Fallen Earth, Darkfall and Aion. |

I am only looking foward to AION next year so I cant wait for 2009. I dont know if you guys are really paying attention but Warhammer is doing very well and I was one of the people who bought it and did not like it. AMD FX-4100 Zambezi (OC at 4.3GHZ ATM) |

Originally posted by Korvenus I'm also awaiting Aion. Warhammer is doing well for the moment, but the vast majority of the playerbase right now is getting quite sick of the watered down RvR and general "WoW 2.0" situation that's going on right now. It has no depth to it, and its about as complex as mashed potatos. I love Warhammer IP which is why I was all about this game for the longest time, especially because I was looking forward to some DAoC style RvR, but now I'm mostly disillusioned and will likely not resub after the 1.1 patch unless it manages to perform some MMO miracle. I'd like to bail out now and just go back to FFXI, but I don't want to put the time into it if I'm going to be leaving for Aion just as I get to the good part. On the other hand, if Aion ends up to be yet another post-WoW easymode crapbox, then I wasted a whole bunch of time. /= Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts. EAT ME MMORPG.com! |

Originally posted by Abrahmm Even though its being made by SOE, I think DC Universe Online should be on that list. That's my big hopeful until Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out. When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there! |

For once IMHO there is a lot of interesting looking stuff on the way. Interesting to me mainly because its not a list of fantasy reskins. APB (hopefully we at least get beta next year) Fallen Earth Earthrise Champions Star Trek (again maybe at least beta)
On the downside, I have that "gut" about "The Old Republic" and "Stargate". I don't have a warm fuzzy about these two titles. Dunno why but....the gut hasn't been wrong yet. Darkfall...seriously? Wooden hovertanks.....not.

Guildwars 2 is suppose to come out then too and no one even mentioned it? It will be a great game with no monthly fees, 3 of the gaming business best programmers (IOW: few or no buggs) and awesome graphics The other games seems nice also, but I doubt any of them will outsell GW2, maybe Aion. |

Aion might be like Lineage 2. Are you guys ready for the grind? |

I try my best not to 'anticipate' mmo's. It's too disappointing. |

I'm hoping for Darkfall, but any of those games would suite me nicely. One thing my crystalball told me years ago has proven out to be a fact: big game companies will only produce MMOs that aint worth shit, indie devs is where it is at. |

Originally posted by binary_0011 I think NCSoft has already said it'll be more grindy than WoW but less than L2. I don't really care as long as it's fun - MMOs should be about the journey, not just a mad dash some arbitrary 'end-game'. Otherwise what's even the point of first X levels before the cap? |

Not even Lineage 2 is like Lineage 2 anymore. Did you miss the last patch? The grind is easier then WoW now. It took me half an hour to an hour to go from 46 to 47. Before the patch that would have taken DAYS.

I like the fact that all those games are Indie games. Normally Indie games are Niche products so noone really expects these games to have over 200k players. I'm waiting for earthrise, I wouldn't mind if the game only had 75-150k subscribers since these guys arent going to push out 10-20 servers the population will be healthy on each server. With the exception of darkfall, not one of these games are expected to have a large number of subs. Just look at a game like Eve only 20-40k subs play that game a day and since it only has one game world to me it feels as populated as WoW. PLaying: EvE, Ryzom Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum |

Guildwars sold pretty well and it was made by 3 programmers who quited Blizzard so a small company can make a big game, no doubt about it. It is a possibility that a small independent company could make the next big game. It is far likely not to happen however, and Guildwars succeded because Jeff Strain is one of the best programmers in the bussiness. But I can happen if the small company have the right programmers and game designers. |

Oh i know that but If you play eve you notice not more than 30-40k play at the same time. still alot of players on a server at any given time imo. when you log onto eve the game tells you how many players are online, I havent seen that number over 40k in a long time. But yes you are right eves subs are around 250k+ atm. PLaying: EvE, Ryzom Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum |
