ok guys, I know you don't care, nobody can have my stuff and I won't let the door hit me... I'm out. This game had an incredibly stable downwards curve in the fun department for me. I gave it more than 1 chance, changed classes two times, changed servers two times, leveled my current ex-character to level 35 and right now, the "what the heck am I doing here?" feeling kicks in. The feeling you get when everything you hope to enjoy projects on the future. Large epic battles, yourself part of a community, non-asshats as companions, epic feel to the world... It's not there, it may be in the future. But I don't care. right now: I log in and see a warcamp full of scenario grinders... ...nobody in this scenario cares if i heal, do damage or lay on the ground waiting for the timer to expire and grab my quest xp... ...nobody runs instances or achieves something together, occassional runs on the public dungeons, a little influence farming, no need to actually put any effort in because of the... ...dominating meaninglessness, everybody just tries to get his character up, no teamplay at all, because everything you could achieve, RvR wise, doesn't matter... ...it doesn't matter because you're not penalized for anything. So well, this is in fact... ...carebear wonderland, it's MORE carebear than LotRO and WoW combined, not even your equipment suffers from death, so you try to adapt and do things you'd guess would be in in a carebear game... ...and fail. Because there is no character customization except 18 colors for identical armor. No meaninful crafting, no clothing, no housing, you don't even have any kind of meeting spot which brings me back to... ...the warcamps, in which a bunch of idiots with idiot names try to sound like real pro players, and they don't need to behave, because they don't need anyone's help to play this game which leads me back to... ...meaninglessness; It's the very essence of this game. I know these games are meaningless by nature, but the moment you team up with people and achieve something together is when you actually become part of a group and get the feeling of doing something that matters, an effect that has not set in for over 1 month now. So yea I'm out, and yes, I'm going back to EvE until Darkfall goes live, my corporation will welcome me open hearted and within 2 hours I will be a crucial factor in a combat operation that actually MEANS something. I extended a 2nd month in hopes that I may try to get my 32 a little closer to 40 so I can see what the end game is about. I've played like 2 hours in the past week though. I knew it was gonna be WoW with some features added and some taken out. I still gave it a shot and unfortunately it doesn't seem like it was worth it. I'm not gonna go into details, but it just isn't fun for me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

the scenarios have killed the greater part of this game... it will continue to die until they remove them... |

Get in a guild. Put more than 2 people on your friends list. I never go into scenarios or open RvR alone because I've managed to form a circle of acquaintances I like to play with. I'm proud to say our side (order ofc) wins 95% of all scenarios when my gang is around - heroism, noble saciafice, coordinated play and all that jazz. In open RvR even if we loose we usually have oodles of fun playing hide and seek with destros and/or dying heroically with elves /special-ing on the battlements while the keep is burning and all is lost. Sorry but if you're not playing social then don't expect people to fall over their heels trying to be social to you. |

I'm still having fun, but I have noticed quite a few empty RvR areas and it's tough to get into scenarios anymore. |

I will keep my sub active as 15.00 bucks a month isn't alot but i haven't been playing much since I hit t4. I don't think they should remove scenarios but they need balanced. I got WaR for the RvR. It's not that I have a problem FINDING RvR its that I have a problem finding a reason to do it. Ok,so I spend 2 hours defending a keep. We push destro back. It's about 12:00AM where I am and most of the order on the server are getting ready for bed. So destro just waits, comes back an hour later and then takes the keep with 10 people. Whats the point of defending? I don't feel like I accomplish anything whenI play WaR RvR. -Currently looking forward to FFXIV -Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda |

See ya, I think the problem is you, and your perception of what you want from the game. I have no expectations and am just having an awesome time. |

I cancelled my sub but the other day I resubbed. I had some fun the other day in rvr so maybe that was a good decision, only time will tell.
The game does feel shallow. It doesn't draw me in like some other games have. But I can log on, do a quest here and there, maybe join a PQ or scenario and log. Honestly I would like something that grabs my attention more but I've been around the block mmo wise, so here I sit for a spell.
I have a LOTRO account but the game just seems borish to me. I suppose I could start playing WOW again and get ready for the expansion but I been there done that with WOW. Quite a dilemna. I've read 8.5 Dune novels contemplating it.... |

@ OP, I understand what you are saying and yes the game is lacking that feeling of accomplishment most of the time. But then, you take a keep with your guildies, go on the forums and bitch out your rival factions, and everything feels nice and fun again. Try it, it's great. OP was out way before this. OP already had the mindset they were out. Half the stuff isn't even true. Which is the reason why I won't even come here to much any more.
Off with ya then.

Goodluck Meridion, Maybe you will be back someday, but until then, I will keep the home fires burning. As many others, try WoW out with its new patch (if you like WoW), esp it releasing the new expansion shortly or even Lord of the Rings with its Mines of Moria expansion the following week after WoWs expansion hit the stores. To me both those game lack the type of PvP I am looking for, but will try out WoW's new PvE content next month as well and will definetly give my 2 cents on their new BG with Siege Weapons. I got a feeling I am going to be disappointed, from what I am seeing on Beta footage of this BG. WoW is reminding me more of a Toon Town Online game once again as it did back in 2004 when WoW pulled me away from SWG realism. How did this happen? I am a victim of peer pressure and blame my friends for getting me into WoW, but I definetly had some good times in that game, years ago, but I think my taste has changed and extremely burned out on WoW, even though it is still a good game for the masses. Will probably sub 1 month in that game, since I dont want to fart around with 2 mmorpgs. I dont have the time I used to 4 years ago.

I feel exactly the same way. My subscription expired today and there is no chance of me resubscribing. In fact I actually feel a bit relieved because while my account was still open I kept having this nagging feeling that I should at least play it to get my moneys worth but to be honest it was more painful to play than fun. It really is one of the most pointless mmos I have played for a long time. There is all this hype about it being an RvR game and yet Mythic actually forgot to give it any kind of purpose. Its basicly just a very poor PvE game with some RvR playgrounds where the players can constantly squabble over who has control of some meaningless keeps. Order has it! Now Destruction has it! Oh look now Order has it again! Now Destruction has it! Who cares?! There is no penalty for anything at all in the game and the only reward you get for doing anything is more bloody exp and gear which is something that happens naturally in any mmo anyway.......so why bother fighting anyone if you dont have to? Everything you find in the game looks exactly the same anyway so who cares? What makes it even worse is that players dont even have to go into the RvR areas. They can just play stupid mini-games forever and play the incredibly boring PvE. War is everywhere.......yeah sure it is. Its hilarious that this is a game about a big war and yet it allows the players to bypass all of it. Whats the point in that?! Mythic have blatantly tried to cash-in on the success of WoW and have ended up producing a pile of pointless crap. |

Let's not forget about this btw. I never ever complained about it, and I won't start now that I've left the game, because it is probably a matter of taste: The viewing distance in this game is around 1000 feet, and in my book, this is an immersion breaker. It's the effective viewing distance on a heavy smog day, wherever you are...

I'm in. I'm still enjoying the game and am surprised that I haven't hit the usual enthusiasm wall most of us hit with any new MMORPG after a month or so. Anyone who has managed to play any MMORPG for more than a month or two knows you hit those walls from time to time. If you manage to play a game more than a year, you probably have quit and restarted your subscription or just walked away for a month here and there. I don't obsess over end game or leveling as fast as possible. I just enjoy the game. I'm having fun and I can look down the road and see I've only experienced a tiny portion of the entire game so far. I've got plenty left to do and I'm having fun doing it. Where else can you get that much entertainment for $15 a month? Want to know more about GW2 and why there is so much buzz? Start here: Guild Wars 2 Mass Info for the Uninitiated |

Yeah, go to Badlands or Ellyrion. No fog there mate. Sheesh, what will some people come up with... Maybe a night screenshot or two with "the game is too dark". |

Originally posted by pixeldogmeat You are a liar. Period. You know full well that this is maxed viewing distance and you put a smile emote behind a plain lie. Dude that's hardball... Also the viewing distance is the same in every zone, no matter if Ellyrion or Badlands. The game engine only draws at a certain, FIXED distance which is set inside the performance options. If you wanna argue I can screenshot this for you. Viewing distance is around 1000 feet no matter where you are. You can actually see objects be drawn inside the fog if you look closely; which I do, because, as I said, to me this is an immersion factor, although I know this varies greatly. The engine does not support distance drawing. What other games (Guildwars, LotRO, Oblivion) do is they make distant landscape very, very low res and transform vegetation to bitmaps. So you have the impression of seamless viewing distance, but in fact the drawing distance for real objects is very near and anything farther away is handled like a theater stage with 2D objects. This works because our eye works like this, everything farther away than roughly 300 feet is only 2D, our mind makes it look like 3D for us. M |
