Pretty much. Many testers (including myself) were warned after posting what was believed to be "trolling" or "flaming" posts. I tried my best. Many of the problems that WAR has now have been in beta from the start. Everytime we were assured that it would all work out (imbalance issue was a nonstop thing). I disagreed with some of the major concepts, including public quests, but after recieving a warning for a post that I really thought was productive I kind of gave up trying. I did what all testers did, just found bugs and suggested things that would add to existing game mechanics.

I never quit beta because it was for the most part fun the whole way through (the community was much better). But  once it hit retail I didn't even bother with it knowing pretty much how the game was going to play after it was shipped. As a beta tester I got to see pretty much everything WAR had to offer and I have to say it wasn't nearly enough to keep me interested. The beta was good and I got to meet many great testers there. We tried our best to get the game as good as it possible but at the end of the day it is completely up to the developers to decide how they want their game to work.

Oh and I would say that I have never liked Mark Jacobs. Not necessairly because of the way he has taken the game, but because of his attitude.

Brothers, we must rise.

This game not only completely ignores feedback they often do the opposite. I don't think anyone at Mythic even plays this game other than on an internal test server. Probably why it's doing so poorly right now.

Productive feedback was listened to often, and patches throughout the process were largely based on that feedback. Unproductive feedback with whiney attitudes (make the game more like WoW, this sucks take this or that out cause i said so, this or that is overpowered nerf everything but my class etc.) was ignored and in many cases punished by removal from beta. A lot of people that hated the beta were former testers who acted like children on the boards and were removed accordingly.

You aren't going to hear that from the people who have an agenda to tear the game down of course. But in reality the beta was smooth and very friendly as long as you conducted yourself in an adult like manner on the boards. It was actually quite refreshing after the poor behavior and lackluster moderation you get on mmorpg.com.

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.

some people are just blind fanbois. mythic hardly ever gave decent consideration to important beta criteria - such as testing end game sieges. many things were borked and still are because they had the blinkers on.

there were several well thought out ideas and proposals put forward which fell on deaf ears.

people were treated harsh and with an "i know better attitude"

culmination is the borkness we see today and the fast time sinks for grinding for gear having to do PvE for gear for PvE endgame is a fix timesink under they decide to get off their asses.

welcome to TOA 2

treatment from mods was terrible

I did many post with obvious problems the game had, and I never saw em anwsered. But this is not a surprise, that's the way of this busniess. They made choices, and they had the reward for their choices. It's just happen that it makes for an OK mmo, not a great one.

I didn't play the beta, although I was invited. However, I've found the developers to be very responsive to feedback since release. Almost every big issue has been resolved or at the very least, we've been told it's being worked on. They actually seem to listen to what the majority of the player base are saying. I have to say, I haven't seen this on any other game before. You see many games like AoC and WoW where there is overwhelming feedback about a certain issue on the forums and nothing is done for months, if ever. In WAR, this doesn't seem to be the case.

To some of the other posters here.. I can't imagine your suggestions were reasonable from what I gather. One of you said you disagreed with Public Quests. That's ridiculous to even think they would respond to that. It's a core feature of the game and the developers aren't going to change something as big as that. It's worse than asking to remove a class, in fact.

Disclaimer: No, I'm not a fanboi. I actually had very low expectations of WAR. I played AoC with high hopes and it was awful, so I didn't get my hopes up for this one. I reluctantly bought the game a days after release (I'm an MMO addict :D ) and I think the game is extremely well polished.

MMOs played (In order of how much I've liked them): Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Vanguard, City of Villains / Heroes, Guild Wars, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online, Ryzom, Final Fantasy XI, Matrix Online, RF Online, Rappelz, Hero Online, Roma Victor

I didn't quit the beta but i can see why some people would have there were some big annoyances

1) Big downtimes with no info leading to number 2 -

2) the flow of information was at times terrible - for example they would say something like "Ok we will let you know whats happening with the next test sometime next week" the sometime next week would mean last thing friday and usually was just "Ok we will let you know next week"

3) feedback - in the begining feedback was listened too but at the end a lot of pretty much ignored - one example - they were going to change how much renown you gained - make it take longer meaning once you hit rank 40 you still had a LONG time to go to hit RR80 they listed their changes and put them up for people beta testers to comment - the majority of responses were negative and they bascially said tough we are going to do it anyway - so why give us the chance to comment !!! (I almost quit that day)

3) Mark Jacobs came off as a bit of a dick on the forums a real jerk in some of his posts

For me,

It was the lack of grouping... pick up groups were 0 and if you did get one it was a train wreck or lasted 10 min.  I do not want to solo in an MMORPG, but it seems that now days groups and guilds come prepackaged from other games and run with each other because it is easier.

The last good guild that I was part of was EQ1, because the game mechanics forced you to group and guild to get through the game.  Levels meant something  then and  were not ground out solo or able to max the level of the game in a week or 2.  I was one of the early beta testers and quit because the game to me was sterile.
