The closed beta started years ago. What other betas are there? Open beta? Not known yet. Probably short before release in november.

What does Acclaim has to do with closed beta?

As Delanor said, beta started a long, long time ago.

Yes, TCoS beta did start years ago, since when do you need a publisher to start testing?

Its scheduled to be released in Europe in november.

I am only talking about US Version. The US Version is comming out in November also and they are doing a Beta Key give away.

What is the current state of this game, I see the "Signup Beta NOW!" thing at the corner of my screen and I signed up for 'Beta'. But which beta is it in right now?

We still give away limited amount of Closed Beta keys. People who receive such keys are bind by NDA (can't tell anyone what they saw in game) and overall help us test the game.

Allright, what about Open Beta then?

Open beta is something entirely different, since indeed nowadays people view it as free demo, rather than actual beta test. When that will happen is too early to say yet, but normally it is one month before the release.

And the release is when?

Release is planned for November 27th, 2008 in Europe.

What about USA? I read game might be released in EU first?

Recently we have announced our NA publisher - Acclaim. We aim for same release date worldwide.

Are US players able to play in a Closed or Open beta?

Closed Beta - Yes.
Open Beta - still remains to be seen if there will be separate NA servers.

What about payment? Will it be free-to-play?

No. You will be able to play for free in certain beginner zones, but you will have and pay monthly subscription fee to access the rest of the game world. As for payment method, besides the credit cards we plan to have game cards as well, though this haven't been finalized and confirmed by all publishers yet.

What about item mal? Will it be available for TCOS players?

No. We do not plan to introduce item mal system to TCOS.

Ok, so back to beta. Do all the people who register for it get their keys?

No. The key hand-outs are based mostly on forum activity and general contribution to the community.

I signed a while back and still got no key?

See above. People who have signed earlier do not have a priority over those who signed up later on. We have to know you are still alive before sending you a key.

I joined a while back and singed for beta then, but I upgraded my computer system since and I can't send in my new dxdiag. What should I do?

We are aware about this and unfortunately you cannot update your dxdiag at this point. It won't affect your chances to get into beta though, for we do not plan to invite people based purely on PC spec. In fact, new beta sign-up design does not even require dxdiag file anymore.

How long it takes before I get a key if I post on forums?

It depends. Usually we invite people in waves and it may take a few months before you receive your key.

But but but... I want my key!

Well, feel free to note that in this thread, so I do not have to search far on hand-out day.

I got my key yesterday and an playing as we speak ! .. I had thw mmorpg.com competion one tho

seems to me like this product should be in open beta by now given its less than 1 month release date eh?  Seems to me like either.. a) it is not going to be released in Nov... or b) it ain't even close to done so they don't want to open it up to scrutiny before release.. ie: no open beta.

Me sad.....

Not sure what you are basing your post on there pesto,alot of mmo's have short open beta's of maybe 1-2 weeks,there is now just less than 4 weeks till the release so why would you start to cry foul at this point?

Not upset at all... just noting that the developers said that open beta would start a month before release... since it is within that time - I would have thought there would be mention of a start to the beta... even if it was to be pushed out to 2 weeks prior to release.

Personally, I'm just fine to wait.. but was hopeful to have more than a couple weeks to eval the product since I didn't get into closed beta.

No worries though... I'm not bitter just hesitant to think the release date will be met.
