Hiya, I have been hooked on mmo's since UO. Played most all of them. This game, while I was a skeptic at first, has really got me hooked. The graphics, of course, are awesome - truly. The combat system is fun and responsive. And, from what I have been reading, things have come a long way from what was likely too early of a launch. And-things just keep getting better. I think you need a decent system for the game - I am running a dual core 3ghz, 8gb ram, GTX260 and play it cose to high with NO issues. So if you have less than that (mine is sort of a mid-range system these days) you may have issues - dunno. I was, at first taken aback by 'zones'. Now I don't notice them. The 'zones' are huge anyhow. I was thrilled to get ganked for the first time because I really missed that sense of impending danger. You just have play smart and carefully to avoid gankings. The pvp is great - fast, responsive, with great finishing moves and crits animations. I also bought Warhammer around the same time I bought Conan and have to say - holy friggin crap - Warhammer really is awful. I am baffled by what people see in it as good. I logged into it and thought I had logged in to the original EQ, graphically speaking - everything looks like she-ite and the character anims are hillarious. I just couldn't play it - I tried different char types - sad - for me anyhow - more power to those of you who think it rocks. So, Conan is really a great go for myself. I would reccomend it highly - but remember if you join a pvp server - you will likely get ganked at low levels - so QQ only if you weren't warned. BTW - join deathwhipser pvp server as its player levels always seem decent. A couple of the other servers I tried seemed quite dead. Hopefully this game survives its launch retartedness because it really is a blast to play.
Added a link to a quick movie I made just running around some pretty area in AoC. No audio as I had my headphones on while I made it. And the quality of you tube video seems to degrade the original substantially but you can get a basic idea.

You have the exact same respons that I had when firing up this stuff. I was like "holy shit, this is awesome." I don't care what problems this game had after launch, but AoC is an absolute blast now. |

With people like you two it wouldnt suprise me if it was his last post. You hate a game so much that you have to hate anyone that likes it?? Why not find a game you like instead of hating others for ones they like? |

Think before you speak, what we said previous happens almost every day here on MMORPG. "People" I use quotation marks because its probably game representives, register here make a "this game is great post" and then you don't hear from them again. |

Can you blame him? Look on your posts above, you were gearing up to the regular flame parade on that guy that unfortunately posted a AoC friendly post the same day he bacame a member. If you want to enforce the unwritten rule of no new thread the same day you join, you should first start with the people that already have a MMORPG profile, but still makes several new to trollspam about 30-50 nonsens posts or threads in one day. These guys are a much bigger problem for a functional discussion than OP of this thread. |

Just making a point. Whenever someone says anything good about the game they get repeatedly bashed as if theyr'e the biggest idiot in the world and they dont deserve an opinion. I rarely ever visit these forums anymore because of this. Ive also got a kid of my own so I dont appreciate you calling me kiddy. I understand what you mean though with the Post and runner's, I remember ILUVFUNCOM for the short time he was here he was a good laugh. And I apologize for classifying you with the other haters on these boards. |

Thank you for a reasonably nice post OP. Some of us 'doubters' do not mind new people posting their positive view on AoC. My personal feeling though is that you would do yourself a favor if you leave out 'any other game' bashing, because even if an other game is poor (in your opinion) it does not make AoC any better (or worse) - It just pollutes your message Your post seems very much in line with FunCom's current 'information policy' but that is not a bad thing either. Being a sceptic I would actually like someone like you posting a sort of balanced 'diary' with your views as you progress in AoC. Personally I will not be returning to AoC until the next patch is in place (and the patch has been patched etc.) In the mean time I still like to read posts, both positive and negative, on AoC as long as they are beyond the 'OMG game sux' or 'OMG this game pwnz everything' sort of posts. Specific feelings/information is very welcome. Such as: 'I really like this because...' or 'This thing annoyed me but I overcame the annoyance by...' Looking forward to your next post...

Is there a trial for AoC yet? If anything could help this game right now it'd be that. I'm not going to spend 35 bucks to find out if everyone was right the whole time and that the game really does suck. I finally get a system that can run it and is amazing, but now everyone tells me AoC sucks and not to play it. But, if there are a few people out there that say it's getting better, I'd like to say I gave it a chance. But, I can't find a trial anywhere. |

My opinion, is that the game is ok, and has the potential to be great. And it is getting better, but they had to lose half (if not more) of their playerbase, before they started work on making it better. |

AOC is all graphics. doesnt even have an end game. Have fun. You judge WAr just by its graphics. WAR puts Conan to horrible shame as far as gameplay. The reviews tell it all, try playing the game before you bash it. |

Hey that's totally cool if people like Warhammer - I am just sharing my opinion on it - I was trying both at the same time with no dog in either race. I just was amazed at how awful War felt to play... again just me. There may be a million ex-wowites who are loving warhammer and more power to them. I have played almost every major mmo and no way in hell can get into it. As to AOC, leveling to 80 in a week... uhm maybe you can - I sure don't have the time to do that. I have quite a few level 20ish chars right now and its been a month. I have heard that- especially early on it was close to hideous for higher level stuff - apparetnly they are improving on it. Here's some things I would like to see changed in AoC atm... Add more voice acting. Put a god damn background on the text during the mini conversations with npcs - can't read them easily in lots of cases. Also, weird camera angles in those mini conversation cutscenes and someone can kick your ass while you are trying to get out of the conversation - it should be (player attacked = kill cutscene immediately) I hate the stupid looking skirts that most classes end up wearing for armor and the robe animations are close to frickin' annoying. They need to do a TON of work on item/gear look - especially armor. This is all in the works though apparently. While Tortage (the starting area) is very cool and well done, even with slight modiications to the quests and such based on class, they should really add a variety of starting areas. It gets old(oddly not as old as I thought it would when I first realized it) when you have to do most of the same quests for your first 15 or so levels. Tighten up some animations on climbing - climbing down the huge log ladder in the Archeronian Ruins in Tortage to go see genzio and all that crap - I am like two feet off the ladder in thin air. STILL - I love this game. I do play lotro as well atm which is fun - but the whole physics engine and feeling of free movement you character gets in AoC when fighting is refreshing and fun. As to whatever dork-breath was whining about me positng on the day I joined... go back to picking lint out of your navel. I did have another account here a long time ago - I just can't remember what it was. so signed up a new one. Specifically I posted this because I wanted to encourage people to give AoC a shot if they haven't and are interested. In fairness, dork-breath might be a bit harsh, I would like to withdraw and rephrase that to ... shoe-breath. Anyhow, GROOVY if you like War - have fun! I thought it was painful. I am also really looking forward to trying Spellborn!

There are other servers that are active as well: Tyranny, Deathwhisper, Set, Wicca, and I believe Thorg.
