I've been playing wow on and off since release, not really getting into the raiding aspect of the game due to my old work schedule, but more leveling different toons and pvp. I've been wow free since early july and told myself i'd come back for wotlk. As the release date approaches, I find myself not really wanting to play it. Sure, there will be new zones and content but I just don't have the motivation to even reinstall the game. Just trying to get other peoples' feedback on this new expansion and if the same draw of wow is there for you as it was back in the day. |

Just look into the expansion, it doesn't cost that much. BTW I am not too pleased with the pre launch patch of yesterday. Graphics update wasn't needed and it is the first time I have this disconnected feeling in Wow. Tx graphics nerds. Also the balance in PvP talents is not for lvl 70 at the moment. I hope it's designed for lvl 80, because else they fucked up bad this patch. What IS good is the achievement system. Simple and very rewarding. Certainly for the casual non raiding players. Every achievement done is also showing up on your guild friends and it can be inspected on every character. That is a real winner. SW harbor is nice in the patch, but also here ... a lot of patch tweaking still has to be done. Blizzard started something, but they better have their act together for the real launch in WotLK or a LOT of people will complain.

Originally posted by bodypass With a patch that size (1.2G) it will be a miracle if nothing bad happens. Apart from LOTRo, I have yet to see anyone pull a patch or ore-launch that size, and is relatively flawless. The new 3.02 is pretty stable actually. We have our servers down for an additional half a day, not a big deal. Once they are up, they are relatively stable. The login server was fixed within 12 hours, and all crashes are limited to zones, mainly shatt. If you call that bad, you will not live with EQ2 or other game patches. Game bugs are plenty indeed, lost mounts, buggy Shaman super power skills. I was surprised that was not caught in the test servers. But none of them game breaking unless you pvp. So far WoW was always a nightmare when it comes to balancing in pvp. Oh, and as usual, all add-ons need updating. I would say Bliz has done a decent job with this 3.02. They got time to fix most of the issues before Wotlk, this way they clear a pile of issues b4 wotlk introduces more. I heard a lot of positive comments inside the chat channels, and for the first time in years, the trade channels are relatively less swarmed by chuck norris comments. To the OP: if you feel no motivation to play WoW, do something else. |

If you grew tired of WoW before WOTLK, you will stay tired after WOTLK. While Death Knights are a very great addition, I find myself wondering if I am playing LOTRO in some of the new areas based on the scenery. I feel that WoW seems to be trying to continue to borrow from other MMOs and I don't think they fit any more. WOTLK will break more records, and the number of subscribers will continue to grow. Until Blizzard releases their unnamed MMO years from now, don't expect WoW's numbers to decrease. |

this game will never truely cater to PVP players get used to the imbalance the classes are fine in PVE dungeons and raids. |

Expansions are not supposed to 'alter the game dramatically' (SWG is a notable exception). I think of it as a new coat of paint on a house. If you weren't happy with the house before, it likely wont change things significantly. MMORPG Characters immortalized! |

I too took a break from WoW back in july and said id be back for wrath because i chose to focus on RL instead of wow life, but with my guild re-rolling horde i found myself back in the game lvling my new toon now but im still wondering if i want to still keep playing since wow is once again getting in the way of RL. Plus other upcoming MMO's have caught my attention such as Stargate, champions online, and earhrise. "you know that whole 'we come in peace business.' Bite me!" |

Same with me. I played at launch for a while, left for a few months before giving it another go and it was old and boring almost immediately. Then about 6 months ago I got a 'come back' free trial in the mail and figure 'sure.. why not'. Within an hour I was bored, no real desire to relearn my characters (surprised they were still around) and still felt old and dull. Thought I would roll a new one and break myself back in, picked a different server and it was still boring and twinks were everywhere!! I prefer PvP servers and I was gimped from the beginning because I wasn't a twink. I seriously considered giving it another try with the expansion but I just can't see it being any different. Same boring grind, same twinks running around, same guilds and groups telling you how to play and spec you own character and taking the game WAY too seriously, same dull feeling. I had fun in WoW after launch before everything was about who has what item and twinking. It wasn't my favorite MMO but it was fun before it started changing. WoW really brought more people into MMOs (I've been playing since Asherons Call 1) which was great to see... until you have the misfortune of experiencing Barrons chat which was pathetic at best and would cause brain cells to commit mass suicide. Then I missed the days when MMOs weren't so popular with the general public. |

it seems when wow started getting serious it lost it's appeal to me. the grind for honor seemed to be when the game started to decline. more and more people were just about this gear and that. i'm not gonna go into the whole, world pvp is dead thing but the tm vs ss days were some of the most fun i had in the game. and leveling in stv, while it separated the men/women from the boys/girls, was also some of the most fun. |

Wut?? From all the pre-launch posts, I thought WAR was going to be the holy freakin' grail of MMO's.... You are playing a video game. By definition that means you are not hardcore. |

Death Knight is nothing special - I will be staying rogue. WoW is the best mmo by so far that its going to stay successful for a long time. Blizzard has so much money that they could completely change the game at any time they choose. As soon as the sub numbers really start falling then we'll start seeing propper game but for now we're stuck in a limbo of people subbing out of sheer boredom and its going to continue for a long time. I stand around all day looking for a pvp guild on my dead server and trying to do ridiculous achievements like 3 EOTS flags without dying. -- |

Here is the situation about wow right now: Population: After the pre-expansion pack patch last 6 days half the servers have queqe to join ... it made me great impression as i didnt wait so many ppl invade stormscale server had 903 queqe many others while i rarely saw queqe they had 300-500 queqe afternoon- evening hours ... charactedrs/talents/skills: patch -expansion content: They added many many new skills to every class some classes took a boost (paladins and warriors) and therefore with all the things/skills/talents they added each class has many new things to do now especially in pvp ( bg's and arenas ). They nerfed cc for all classes and gave all classes skills/talents to cut down the cc resist /durations every fight now is a lot diferent ( it was about time) you have many more things to do in battles than frost nova blink , intercept harmstring mortal strike e.t.c. If for each class it was pretty clear what specc/ character build u ll make when pvp now with all the new talents/skills/ changes u can do alot of combinations making the game alot more intresting. Proffesions: each profesion now at least for the gathering ones giives your character now a bonus in direct impact with your character example: herbalism gives you a helaing over time spell whatever class u have. Mining gives u an amount of extra life, skining increases your critical strike rating e.t.c. Scribing/glyphs: If there was somethign that was anoying me in wow was that all classes from person to person they were same... what i mean? if pvp same pvp gear almost all same talent builds with very few exceptions and all were just like copy pastes of each other... With all new skills / talents and this new profesion scribing and the glyphs u can make your avatar alot diferent form the other wariors for example if u have a warior... Scribing allows u yo customize various skills u use longer casting time but more dmg or the opppositee if u are acaster class , more lethal mnortal strikes cvharging from further distance if u are a warior e.t.c. Glyphs are extra unique enchants also u add to your character making your character completely diferent than the others same classed players. And that is half the game for me. As i mentioned before in a past post all changes last one year in game mechanics/talents are made based on pvp balanced and expanding pvp isuues. With all these new things population increasing instead of diminishing after aoc, war came ( i wonder why^^) + a whole new continent i dont think there is a reason not to stay in wow until something powerfull and new in ideas and aspect game releases( darkfall) .. hope i enlighted you any P.S. not a wow fun boy .. played 3.5 years wow enjoyed much more at start , ive critised wow in many bliz\ choises ,but realised there nothing better or even closed to comparison with wow sadly at leats till now...

I played WoW for about 3 years and have uninstalled the game 2X. Once after a nasty guild break up of old SWG friends which killed my desire to play, the other after the abomination that was the BC expansion. I have yet to reinstall the game this last time and I'm wanting to get excited about the upcoming expansion. It is just that every time I think about playing the game I realize that I'm going to end up doing the same ol' **it. I don't see anything "fresh" in the game after the release. I know they are adding new things but the new stuff doesn't feel fresh to me. It's imo the same old grind fest with new avenues to waste your time. I'll monitor the release and see if I resub or stay gone. |
