Sometimes I feel guilty loving to play and being 62 years old...I'm still 25 in my mind..Or whats left of it..I know last time i accidentley mentioned my age i was told i should be in a nursing home instead of playing.

Just curious.

Just wondering tom, what game or games do you play?  Do any of your friends play as well?  I think it's great that you stay active in a genre such as this. 

Right now I'm doing Guild Wars..everytime I've tried WOW the community really gets old fast....Thinking of maybe trying UO again

iv played with people in there 50s and 40s in allot of mmo and tf2 :)....i dont really think age matters..i kinda like haveing a big range of ages in my guild and tf2 clan..and genders....

I think its cool that older people play video games. Im pretty sure I'll still be playing games when Im your age. IM 26 right now Ive been playing video games since I can remember.  When I used to play DnD there were a couple of older players maybe in there 50's and they played since the game first started and they knew so much about the game it was unreal.

Im playing War right now with some friends,  and that comunitty is nice for the most part. Scenarios is where you will find people that like to fight and stuff. But I was in an awesome warband the other night the people were really nice and we had a lot of fun.

I guess some people just don't respect their elders anymore. If they have the same interests as it shouldn't make a difference how old somone is.

First  MMORPG game I played was a game call "The Realm" , then moved on to Asheron's Call

which I'm still playing along with Wow as my sister & family play and it's a great way to

stay in touch.

It's funny I started playing online games in my teens and now I am 30+.    I suspect I'll still be playing into my twilight years.  :)

I'll turn 37 in the spring and still going.  Age doesn't matter, character does.

MUDs, The Sierra Network, The Realm (even beta tested it!), UO, I've played them all, too.  Instead of feeling guilty or embarrassed, shouldn't you be feeling like the veteran gamer that you are?   Kids who say stupid things like they said to you are the ones who shouldn't be playing games - they should be in school or learning respect from their neglectful parents.  I'm glad there are people gaming who have earned something in life other than detention slips.  Having said that, I've met tons of teens and even younger playing games who are just great.  Smart, mature and lots of fun.  There seem to be just as many bad apples over 20/30/whatever as under.  I can sometimes fogive age but what excuse do the rest of them have? 

I beta tested the first game to start it all. (Meridian59) Was addicted at the start. Sat in front of my computer and kept pushing the "log on command" the day EQ was released. Even though I am 55 I feel like I was just walking in the hallways of High School  a few years ago. Started playing games when Comodore64 was relased. (Or how ever you spell it) Age has nothing to do with nothing. Game till you bleed, rock down the house.!!! I also played in a rock band for years. I think if Mick Jagger can still perform I guess peeps can play games huh? Never mention your age online. (Not to be deceitful) but just because it ruins the atmosphere. For instance (It can go both ways) If I am enjoying playing and talking to another toon, and find out he or she is 13, I suddenly feel different about grouping and hanging with the very same toon I was fine with before the age came out.   No matter what your years are, My wish would be that people would act and behave in a pleasent polite manner.

Not sure what the cut-off age for 'older gamer' is, but I am probably there considering many teenagers think 30 is retirement age. I'm in my late 30s and I've been playing computer games since I wrote my first Pac-Man clone in BASIC on the Atari 400 with cassette tape drive.

There are a number of "older gamer" guilds out there by the way.

Speaking of the gaming days of yesteryear isn't it surprising that game designers are still making the same mistakes? Perhaps because of the technological push of most modern game design they seem to refuse to acknowledge the past.

Older gamers are always welcome in my groups, they're normally more mature and strategy isn't as foreign to them. The tricky part is getting them to stay awake and out of the bathroom.

I don't mind nice kids, but ones that go around yelling Noob all the time get old fast

I'll get killed if they see this, but for one of my sins, I let a small group of silver gamers use my vent server.

They're all 65+ with the eldest at 82, and they have me in stitches with the way they've been bickering continually amongst themselves for the last 3 years. It would seem that EQ2 is very serious business.

On a slow day, I'll hop in channel with them and laugh from my belly at their honest usage of words such as pwn, noob, and zomg. It really is quite surreal.

I'll be 33 next week and I only wish that I could get as involved in a game as these guys still manage to do.
