Need a game that will allow me to Rob and Kill other players...can I Rape the corpse aswell? |
PLEASE!!! No "Official" Forums for KOTOR ONLINE!!! This is my plea and I mean it with every fiber of my being, I really hope that Lucas and BiOWARE will not have Official Forums. Nothing tears apart a community faster than the forums. Just look at WoW, AoC, and SWG. You know I'm right! |

I disagree. I think it's less the forums, and more the idiots posting on them |

Omg, its not being called KOTOR for frakkin sakes it being called THE OLD REPUBLIC which can take place from any time from KOTOR to the end of the REPUBLIC during the Clone Wars and the rise of the EMPIRE BEGAN....with all the craze about Lucas liking the Clone Wars it may be about the Clone Wars instead....I mean a new animated Clone Wars Movie and a live action TV show next year taking place after the Clone Wars filling in the 20 yr gap from Episode III to a New Hope. I wish people would stop calling it KOTOR though...cause its been reported thats its not even being called that... http://www.speedtest.net/result/1775656162.png |

{Mod Edit} Anyways I agree forums for SWG had their part in ruining them because of all the whiners but I think SOE woulda made all them changes even if there was no forums lol. |

Majority of games have horrible forums....but SWG was different. Their forums were just outstanding...even after the NGE. Hell I knew people who continued to pay a sub even after the NGE just for the forums and refused to log in game but yet enjoyed the forums enough to pay $15 a month. However this doesn't appear to be the case anymore. Now they are just a breeding ground of stupid pre teen (maturity level since some are, sadly, older than they act) sugar high kids repeating the latest internet buzz words (fail, epic, lulz, etc) over and over again while posting pictures we have all seen a thousand times and insulting each other over the smallest things to try to look like someone of importance and authority. I can't even stand to read the forums anymore and it's almost an embarrassment to say I once trolled there. |

forums are inevitable. Better official than congregate to unofficial. |

HAHAHAHA!!!! Is this one of those threads that blame the failure of a game on the shoulders of players and forums? News flash: MMOs fail because they're crap and / or there are issues with the developers. Bad games and bad dev teams will fail, and having forums or not will not prevent it. What not having official forums will do is it prevents a central meeting place for your PLAYERS, i.e. PAYING CUSTOMERS to congragate at. You know, like minds getting together to share a common theme or goal. Warhammer Online currently has no official forums. It's doing well, yes, but IMO, the players are splintered off with a piss-poor sense of community. Same thing I saw with Guild Wars. Both have no official forums. If your game is good, then have no worries about official forums. If your game is bad, then having forums or not will not matter. You won't be able to hide for much longer how craptastic your game is. "I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." What tore apart SWG was not the forums. Players posted what they would like to see done to the game there, like bug fixing, ways to actually fix the broken content, level out PvP, and fix the force rank system. SOE refused to listen to players, for the most part, and decided to make changes based on what they wanted out of the game instead of the what the players wanted. What SOE wanted was WoW's player base instead of trying to keep and protect their current players. SOE not caring for their players, openly insulting them, using outside think tanks on major decisions is what lead to most of the grief and flame fests in the forums. The forums for SWG was a great place till SOE started one of the most epic PvP battles ever in the forums, in which the Player Faction lost to the Dev Faction. |

That right there is exactly the mistake SOE made and still makes, their philosophy is "who cares what the players want, we'll do what WE want and the players will like it". There's also a rumor that they listen to George's son Jett. SWTOR: sub ended, no thanks to Georg Zoeller! |

This would be a remarkably sad state of affairs, if what you posted was remotely true. So I started to walk into the water. I won't lie to you boys...I was terrified. But I pressed on, and as I made my way past the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was divine intervention or the kinship of all living things, but I tell you, Jerry, at that moment ... I was a marine biologist. |

One of the smart things Bioware has donein this process. Is the fact that there is no official forums. That way they can work in peace with what ever consept they have. Steady as she go mr. producer. Less forums activity = less whiners = less change = Happy me. Hauken Stormchaser |

Lol, ok that made me laugh, but I think it's also MMO companies screwing over their customers that lead to irate posts. I play CoH for example. Go over to the official boards if you want. Look up the threads on the new issues coming up. Heck look at any of the threads if you want. Many of them are creative suggestions for new content (which we receive regularly as part of the subscription) or they're thanks to devs for the new content, and for listening to player input. The atmosphere on those boards is like night and day compared to the SWG boards (official and here). Why? Because the people doing CoH obviously take pride in their work and treat their customers well. Like everywhere, there's the odd complaint. Some are justified, some probably aren't. But I've never seen such animosity on any forum as I've seen on SWG's. And really that just makes sense. If you mislead your players over and over, delete all of their progress, give them a badly broken game and charge a premium rate, and remove their game, replacing it with another one to cater to a different audience, what do you expect? No, forums aren't the problem. Screwing players over, hard and repeatedly, and then expecting them to take it quietly--that's the problem. That's what divides communities. |

One of your pro-SOE colleagues started a rumour saying that SWG won't shut down any time soon because George Lucas' son plays. That's where the rumour started, fyi. I agree with you though that reading any significance into this is a bit over the top. |
