I have no problem with the guy playing 36 accounts... but the people judging.. bloody eejits.

This guy is just playing his game the way he likes, hurting noone, yet ppl feel the need to slam him just to make themselves feel like they have it going on, or are doing things right.

as a matter of course, I looked up some other past times in order to get some perspective. I found a country club (read golf) where the individual membership was 14,000.00 per year.

I'd rather pay 6,500.00 per year to play WoW than 14,000.00 per year to play golf!

Hell he is right... there are a LOT of more expensive hobbies than that. I mean paintballing is probably more expensive. I'd rather paintball... but just because this is a video game hobby doesn't really make him that insane.

But for all we know, he could probably be a pretty popular guy, goes out often, gets laid often, or may even be married... I don't buy the hobby card.  With hobbies like paintballing, sports, cooking, etc.  At least you achieve something.  I fail to see what he achieves here, online gaming is a fantasy.  Every item, every level, is a piece of data stored in a computer.  That's why people say he has no life.  He is obsessed with imaginary objects.  The fact that you "don't see anything wrong with it" probably reflects your own feelings of value for imaginary things in computers and the internet.

 

I don't really see the difference between this guy and his setup, and the obsessed Star Wars geek with 36 outfits and 1000's of action figurines in his basement.  Both are just as sad.

I don't like to judge people, but you have to feel somewhat disapointed in the way players are playing the games these days.  In the early days of MMOs it might have been neat to see someone multi boxing to this extent, but now there are so many people doing it that there is no interaction in the games.  Even WoW had a lot of grouping for instances when it first came out, but now it's truely a solo game until you get to the top and apparently even at the top it's a solo game if you can afford to setup enough accounts and have the patience to control that many characters at once.

No, he's in the WorldDefense channel as opposed to the LocalDefense channel.

Now seeing how many jerks there are in MMOs this seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do, ja ne?

I was in awe a bit when i first read about this dude. but now that i think about it. whats the fuckin point?  mmorpg's are meant for people from around the world or nation at least to be able to come together and do quests, raids, pvp, and other amazing things.  this dude has completely secluded himself from having to interact with anyone ever.  

at least imo whats the point of playing?

i have to say its kind of awesome. this guy has some talent to be able to control that many players at once. hell i have a hard enough time with one sometimes. the point in him doing it is he doesnt have to rely upon the rest of us to form a group or raid and waste hours on end waiting for people. he can get in get it done and go about his business. if theres a wipe its his fault and not some other dickhead not paying attention or doing something stupid. 

If that is how he wants to spend his time and hard earned cash then good luck to him, doesn't hurt anyone by my understanding so good luck to the fella!

On one hand it's his money, his life, and his time...

On the other hand a MMORPG is a social game and his multi-account botting gives him an unfair advantage over other players.  He rolled mostly shaman and intends on PvPing.

He is botting and Blizzard has decided that botting is not permitted in WoW so if he isn't already banned he probably will be soon.

Which means he is wasting his time, money, and life both ingame and out of game since he will have nothing to show for it both ingame and out of game when he gets banned and all that gear he bought is worthless.

However, I suspect the guy has a tech job and set all that up with a bunch of trial WoW accounts just as a photo gag.
