They don't have the resources of the bigger companys and they don't have a PR department to advertise the game or update the website. They will be showcasing the game at a Greek convention soon though so we should get some new information. We hope... |

No advertising = lying now? |

Exactly, the 100k+ signed for beta are just the most rapid fans. If the game don't dissappoint at launch, number of subs will be at least 200k.

Sandbox games are always more survivable than level based linear games. Being aimed at the PvP population (who are treated like the red-headed stepchildren of the MMO community) it was be more of a niche game anyway. ALL THE BETTER! |

well, we'll all find out in 3 days, hopefully. If not...beta should be this year (coming 2008)
they have to be doing something, or else they would have hyped it up to make money fast, like AoC DARKFALL 09! Apparently 08 didn't make it :( Sorros of Forumfall. |

Nothing wrong with the game keeping it low at this moment, there is no game yet. Once this game reaches the open beta stage, it will matter. |

No one is hiding this game. They aren't going out of their way to get you to pre-order it and suck up all your money. Anyone who goes through the area they let you go in and play it if you contact them ahead of time. They say the game will speak for itself.
Whaaaa, and honest company?? |

Usually companies aren't too open about their games because things change a lot and if something is different from what was promised, people throw a fit. Mythic was open about WAR and then cut some stuff that they didn't even need to mention at all, and people were complaining. As far as Darkfall, it has been in development for so long, promises made, and broken, they can't afford to say anything and then change because it would kill what little credibility they have left. Also, might be a lot of smoke and mirrors still about this game. Beta has been imminent for several years now, hehe. Even if beta is about (or has started) it will be going on for a while since it has to be the early stages. If all goes well, probably at least 2 years for release, which is not good considering all the time spent so far. Things are bleak, but people are hopeful. They just can't afford to disclose anything. Better to keep things under wraps and people interested, than revealing all and crushing interest. Things always change, so never really a good idea to be too open about one's game. |

Why spend money advertising when most of the ppl that will buy the game are already hyped to the sky about it? Waste of money at this point.
Wait 3 days and you'll hear even more |

Pretty much everything you have said above just is not true, not sure what planet you live on.

though i wont be playing darkfall this is why you fail OP. they dont care about you they care about there game. They just want it to have a good response on launch not a buggy nightmare that you see on these mmos today. They dont have to worry about schedules for right now seeing as well they know only about 20K to 100K people will play this game EVER so they dont need to launch a hot mess. I want to say there not in it for the money and just the experiance but im sure the money is nice too. |

I will not try to defend eq2pvpsucks' claim, since it is only a possibilty, even the devs have said so. However, since gear will be pretty unimportant in df, this should not serve as a deterrent to the casual gamer. Replacing your lost gear will be very easy. Oh and Aventurine doesn't care about the size of a convention. That said, they are a small company and as such a small convention would actually be more appropriate imo. Yeah they were even hiding it while live playtesting it at ADW. Tasos was dancing with a red thong to drag people's attention away from the game. Shaar didn't film him so that he can fool us that that they were really showing the game to people. It's the only logical explanation, HAVE SOME COMMON SENSE!!! SEE THE TRUTH!!!! Just substituting TenSpotting. Well it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog,
all for me beer and tobacco! |

Originally posted by Thoric485 Yea I saw it and I came away from it as not very impressed. True the dev's have come along way from where they started. But this game needs alot more polish and for them to say it will come out by the end of DEC tells me they are under a great deal of pressure. And we all know what happened to AOC. Its looking more and more like an AOC clone. Give it another year before release and it can shake that title and perhaps shine. If they don't...well we know how is will end.
