Don't get me wrong guys... I love my MMOs but everyone and I mean everyone gets burned out and takes a break (even if its just a week or two). What Videogames do you play while on a break from MMOs? Back when I first played MMOs the game was Balder's Gate then I went to Elderscrolls rpgs. Today its pretty much the same Bioware/Bethesda combo Messing with Oblivion and Mass effect. And I'm sure I'll be playing Fallout 3 and Dragon Age when those come out to cure me of my mmorpg burn out. Ultima ONline (3 Years) |

I dunno pretty much every game out there today sucks, at least all the ones ive played. BG was ok but had thousands of bugs, oblivion just plain sucks.. heres a game where you are punished for leveling up, and when you level up every living creature in the world magically all simultaniously level up as well. I remember playing old school NES rpg's where you go into a new area and get utterly sodomized by the inhabitants, thinking "wow these guys are strong, I will need to come back when I'm stronger" What was so wrong with that? I suppose you could become more powerfull by leveing if you labored to manipulate the leveling mechanics.. unfortunately that involves such madness as repeatedly thrusting you weapon because you must avoid increasing your running skill etc. Yea and whats the deal with chests? lets see what year is this again? 08?? how far has PC technology come again? So why then is the game RUNNING OUT OF MEMORY when I put 8 items repaired 125% in a chest? lets see 8 items with repair level that probably about maybe a couple bytes of code, MAN thats just too much to handle isnt it? Yea someone please explain this one... what is it about my previous battle success that determines how often I will be staggered in the next fight? makes no sence? didnt think so. Yea, mmos suck too I dont play any of them anymore, sometimes I wonder if devs are trying to make games as stupid as they possibly can. The way I see it, any game made after the year 2000 automatically sucks, for the most part anyway. Take a look at games like FF1-10, castlevania SOTN, Half-life, quake. They were all great, fun, and did NOT redefine the word 'stupid' like every game today does. Of course HL/CS and Quake and even games like Starcraft/Diablo 2 fall into the suck category depending on wether or not your lucky enough to join a game without hackers. MMOs were supposed to be a way to play online without hacks, but now they are all just a cesspool of suck, even ones that were once great like UO, EQ, AO, SWB.. every single one out there right now sucks IMHO. Right now I am enjoying a game of FF8, just look at my sig its one of my most favorites, but I had to perform techno-brain surgery on my PC just to get it to work. sure it uses universal leveling like oblivion but makes up for that in other areas. I guess in a way I have lost all faith in gaming, everything on the shelves is a joke, games that were once great suck, and the ones that are still great either dont work on your PC anymore, or are online and full of hackers. enjoy. |

Well since I'm not playing any MMO at the moment Ive been playing some old school games actually packed with content like the X-Com series, the original Fallout games, Empire At War, Battlefront II, Homeworld II with the Battlestar Galactica conversion mod installled, the Godfather, and some old console roms like Final Fantasy VI, and Nexus The Jupiter Incident there are plenty of great games to play without paying 15$ good thing about single player and quasi multiplayer games is that you can create your own content for them unlike MMOs but.. I do miss playing MMOs only one Im actually looking out for Darkfall and thats about it. Enuf said.. http://www.speedtest.net/result/1775656162.png |

XBOX and XBOX 360 games. Like Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, KOTOR 1 and 2, CONAN - the offline game (Not Age of Conan). Plus many other games too many to list. Basiclly I play MMOs and Console games. Anything without turn-based, queue-based, or RTS combat, with the exception of KOTOR 1 and 2. Only like those two because of the storyline and what you can do with it. When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there! |

There are other games besides MMO's? Not in my book. "Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean it's not PTW." - Amaranthar |

Counter-strike:source has always been on my computer since half life 2 came out. Its kind of relaxing to be able to join a gun game and squeeze off a few rounds. Also, I dabble with Rise of Legends, a follow up RTS to the very popular Rise of Nations RTS. Rise of Legends is amazing and if anybody is interested in a cool sci-fi/fantasy RTS, I would highly recommend this game. Graphics are amazing aswell. Heroes of Might & Magic III. A great game who also have a map editor, so you can start build (and rarely finish) your own maps. |
