They certainly gave Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny a workout. CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested. Once a denizen of Ahazi |

While I left EQ1 in disgust via GOD (Gates of Discord) Planes of Power holds a special place for me Pick of any of the four Elemental Boss encountered (Rathe Council, Xeogany, Sol Ro, Povar) needed for Plane of Time access. You actually had to have skill AND knowledge of your class to beat these encounters my friends. What sticks out most to me though is the pre-elemental boss RZTW (Rallos Zek The Warlord) encounter. That oldie but goodie required splitting you're raid force in half. You had to trust your captains to lead effectively. Nuff said *Sniffle* aww...the good ole days. Dutchess Zarraa Voltayre |

They have written a journal about their fight: I like the idear of a few bosses that will take an elite guild 3-4 hours of fighting, but this boss is just stupid. The group figured they could have killed him if they had an hour more, and expect lesser groups to use more then 24 hours. |

Since I've just started playing MMORPGs (currently Atlantica Online), and still near the beginning of the game, I have to say none at the moment. Maybe if I reach a higher level, that's when I'll encounter the big, bad bosses! Take time to smell the flowers! |

The Sleeper from EQ, took the whole server to fight her and only happened once per server, ever. |

Vanguard, there's this boss you got to kill to get your griffon mount. Many guilds have tried yet he was never defeated. Come to find out, he was bugged. He would go down to 1 health, but never reach zero and die.

Wow... I was only able to browse their journal but from what I read, they prepared for weeks before the actual fight. Fighting this boss really does seem stupid. |

Did anyone mention The Sleeper Kerafyrm from original EQ? I remember there was a game wide announcement to every server when three guilds banded together to take it on and won after a 4 - 5 hour fight possibly longer. Many of the participants lost multiple lvls just to to take im down. At the time he was thought to be unkillable by most everyone who played as well as the designers. He has to be one of the toughest. |

I'd say EQ had/has its fair share of pretty damn tough boss encounters. Ring of Vulak made me cry a few times. And I cringe every time I think of a Solteris raid. I quit after TBS so I can't comment on any of the newer expansions. |

The sleepers had already been mention on page 2 of this thread!, and yea it was Ascending Dawn, Magus Imperalis Magicus and Wudan guilds friends in Rallozek. GM's intervention had de-spawned the sleeper kerafyrm on our first tried and the players went nuts, causing alot of stir. SOE apologized so we tried again, fought the sleeper was alot of funs. Loot's drop was pretty crap but instead we all get 2 free AA's!... Haaaawt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lccbiyZl38w&feature=related

Bump for this cool thread! I've love to see what people think is now currently the all-time historically hardest MMO boss ever. |

From EQ1, the Pre-PoP Emperor Ssraeshza in Luclin. It wasn't just hard considering the fact he had multiple guards that you had to keep fighting seperately, but also because you had to get keys and everyone who wanted to melee him needed to create special weapons to be able to hurt him. It took ages to just get to fight him, then more time working out how to do the combat, then more time trying to get it all to work as one so you win.
He's an easy target now, I've been reading of 2 Level 80's with Mercs doing him alone, but back then he was really hard. You can mez the guards with the new expansions, which you couldn't do Pre-PoP, which makes the whole encounter almost trivial. |
