We do know it is STAR WARS (The Old Republic) and I think we will see a brief overview of some of the Key Features of the game, along with a few Alpha quality Screenshots. I also agree we will see it in 2010 or 2011...not before. |

At this point, not too much. The core elements and ideas for how this game will be played are already in place. Sure, some things can change, but not the main game. What we see on the 21st, as far as the main concept of the game goes (WoW oriented or Pre-CU oriented), is what we are going to get. At least, that is what I think you are adressing.

I didn't know that Bioware did the very first KOTOR. So this new MMO should be pretty damn good. The Chronicles of Spellborn is using the new unreal engine, I kinda hope the engine they are going to be using is pretty close to what they used for The Force Unleashed. This game is suppossed to be out in late 2009. Once this does come out, so long SWG for good.

Well the writing is on the wall for SWG, it is just a matter of time. Allowing Bioware to make a Star Wars based mmo just proves that. This will allow LA and SMed to wash their hands of the mess they created thanks to the NGE. Thugh I highly doubt this will be a sandbox but this time around they will do things alot better. |

No it's not going to be like pre-cu swg. Pretty much linear, story-based with levels with a persistent world I would expect. |

my prediction will be on October 22nd (maybe the 23rd) the lead designer of SWG now (whoever the hell it is) will make a huge annoucement basically boiling down ot omg guys we just consulted this new server guru and like omg we found out a way to bring Pre-nge servers up and running ... amazing huh? so anyone that wanted to play Pre-nge will be able to join one of these special servers. we will of course be reactivating accounts in good standing so they can try out this amazing discovery! |

Even if this is a KOTOR MMO I can't see SWG being pulled because of it, at least not in the near future. It will stick around on life support as one of those station access games ... One thing I do fear ( if this is a KOTOR MMO ) that bioware stick with one of there trademark features, a feature that's been in the bulk of the games that they have developed (at least every game I've played) and thats the mid action pause button. Don't know if you can run it? |

Come on Bro it a MMO, let think about it. That feature only works in Single Player games. Try Mass Effect a great game and the combat is amazing... One thing that will make the game good will be Bioware great story telling and creative quest system...

I think this mmo could blow the industry away, anyone who's played kotor would probaly agree with the potential a kotor mmo has. When you played kotor 1 and 2 i actually felt like i was in the star wars universe, from running around on dantooine to running through ancient sith temple's. If they are able to recreate this kind of feeling while adding the mmo aspect to it, the possibilities are almost endless, and from bioware's past track record i think they got what it takes to make a ground breaking and mabye one of the best mmo's yet. It definetly wont be a question between wow like or precu, i highly doubt they are gonna tread along the lines of what's already out there, They are gonna try and give us something that hasnt been seen before. I personally have really high hopes for this mmo, and there is a very good chance i wont be disappointed. As for swg, it will most likely die once this comes out, half the people playing only play because they love starwars so much, but if they see a newer and better game come out they will most likely switch in a heart beat. |

This game is being developed using the hero engine www.heroengine.com/ Taken from this website: "At BioWare we selected HeroEngine because it had the most sophisticated and complete development tools available for building an amazing online experience. Our team wanted a great rapid prototyping environment and to work with experienced MMO developers. HeroEngine from Simutronics is a perfect fit for BioWare Austin's requirements."
Take a look at the hero engine website. The game can be made within 3 years with this engine. The game can be released within a year from now. Exactly for the christmas campaing. Damn it can even be finished already and what we are about to see is game going live within 2 months. This will be really revolutionary. Edit: Take a look at the fast world design capability, yay! 3 years: www.heroengine.com/world.asp -=AlaKraM=- |

it won't be the top mmo out there, but it should be fun if EA doesn't rush them..like they do everyone else. "The great thing about human language is that it prevents us from sticking to the matter at hand." |

We hear this every day on this forum. I don't believe SWG NGE will die, I think there will be an adjustment (argueably this depends on how good the new MMORP is and what SOE does about it) but it will still exist. Just like EVERY game this forum PREDICTS will die, it wont. There is always a first but SOE don't normally close down or turn off games. Now playing: Nothing |

Game death means different things to different folks. Some feel that losing over 200k players and struggling along on Station Pass Life support with 10k+ players defines game death. Some think that as long as the plug isn't actually pulled, no matter how low the population, the game is 'alive'. SWG is nothing more than Station Pass filler not worthy of innovative and cutting edge development. Cut & paste content from other games (primarily WoW) is what is in store for SWG indefinitely, but since that is what the target audience wants, then it is a cost effective way of maintaining the game for the few that still play. That, and SWG provides training opportunities for noobling devs and college interns I doubt LA sees SWG as any type of competition....the 10k+ subscription money that SWG earns is mere 'chump change' to what the LA/Bioware is looking at with the new mmo. I am also certain that these companies know that most of the players that remain on SWG will abandon the game in favor of a new, improved Star wars experience when it is available (be it Alpha/Beta testing or release). This doesn't mean that the plug will then be pulled on SWG, but I am sure there is an SWG player number that both $OE and LA agree on that will determine if and when the plug ffinally gets pulled. If the new Bioware SW mmo is any good at all, SWG will completely fade away into old mmo game oblivion and only be remembered as the greatest, epic gaming blunder ever done on an existing mmo with over 250k players. $OE hasn't learned any lessons, but I am sure its competitors have. |

My prediction?: Soon, very soon, maybe even in the coming weeks, SWG will announce that return of 'Classic servers' in a desperate attempt to add some kind of solidity to its player base as the MMO world becomes ever more interested in the new Bioware game and its launch. I'd also like it on record that I first made this prediction two years ago. |
