Seriously, what people should do now is overhype this game into epic proportions, imagining all this super awesome stuff to come from this game, so that way (once again) when they start testing/playing it they can be dissapointed with it and complain on the forums because it wasn't what they imagined!

Ok  I'll bite, I don't think anyone expects it to save the world, sure there will be a few die hards who would be angry, but most of the real vets don't even give a shit tbh or expect it to change the face of MMOs. It it does then coolio.

who's trolling, i want the game to succeed but seems the morons on these forums can't stop themselves from turning things into something they wont be.  So i figured i'd try to discourge it by bringing it up right away.  No worries though, i understand how people think here..as in everything is a troll post.

naw, just figured it was another troll post. Eitherway I doubt it will be like pre-cu SWG, but I wouldn't complain if they added some fo those elements to it.

all i need to have a great mmorpg, would be a built in space aspect from launch, star wars, and blasters, and i be happy

Bioware's SW experience is with KotOR so the chances are high that is what it is, but still it is speculation.  Wouldn't matter to me what era of SW the game was about, as long as it is sandbox, which is not Bioware's style.  Bioware loves indept immersion quests that follow well thought out story lines, so again, strong possibility of that style of game.  I look forward to trying the game, but will hold off judging it untill I can actually play it for myself.

I am still apprehensive about the game as it is being developed by the Bioware Austin division and they have hired several SOE VP's, developers, etc from SOE Austin.  I only hope they are not the people who were involved with some of SOE's questionable acts with SWG. *EDIT* forgot to add the "not" in that last sentence.

All in all, I look forward to what they release on the 21st and look forward to the future release of the game.  If the game costs $50 then it is worth it to me to at least try it out as I have always liked Bioware's NWN series and I am a childhood fan of the original Star Wars movies (the Episodes were okay).

im sorry but i cant care anymore.  after playing the joy that was a skill based star wars sandbox mmo i dont think any star wars design is going to be as successful.  especially after the disasters that were episodes 1-3 and the clone wars animated movie.

 

star wars is a dying franchise.  they need a full reboot, or they need to let it go.  too many bad ip management decisions in a row from lucas.  i just dont see how in this economy and market can handle another level based mmo or how it is going to survive the wow and eq comparisons that will go right along with that design.  people will argue the differences, but its still going to be wack a mole with math.  thats the main basis for that design. 

 

Iets face it, since swg was announced there hasnt been a star wars release of any kind that was worth a damn.  not movies, not books, not animated shows.  not anything.  hell the best star wars content any of us has seen in the last 5 years was triumph making fun of what "hardcore" fans it has level.  and seriously.....   look at those people...

 

george lucas needs to retire this franchise and move on to something else.  he lost touch with his fanbase years ago.

 

I just cant help but see this mmo as a super expensive misuse of investor dollars in a time people cant really afford to back irresponsible projects.

if its level based, its going to get wow comparisons no matter who made it.  theres only so much you can do with that design.  and its been done to death for what, 14 years now in the online space?  theres no escaping that.

Posts like these crack me up to no end, I love how fan boys get these ideas in their heads that they know what is good for an ip they had no hand in creating. I personally liked episodes 1-3 but certainly did notice all the know it all nerds who just enjoyed 4-6 knew how to make it the best movie trilogy ever even though they mostly haven't made anything themselves that anyone gives a spit about. the truth of the matter is you can't please everyone all of the time especially difficult when you give people a "world" in which they have the opportunity to let their own imaginations run wild then all of a sudden we are all George Lucas equal.
 

Some points I can agree on they do some strange things with the ip nowadays most of the games for SW do suck and I had no interest in the animated movie or really the tv show either but that dosn't make me not want to see more products from the ip that I love but the person who created it as well. I could care less if it is level based, full of Jedi, or even know it all Lucas wannabees I'll be playing it and hopefully loving it.

It would be my guess, and I stress guess, that these individuals were the ones responsible for not supporting the NGE (or CU for that matter).  The fact that they no longer work for SOE says a lot... to me.
 

Ok.  I've called just about every secret project so far.  This one has been more transparent than any of them.  In fact, it's one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry that I've seen.  There are only two possibilities here.

1.  Yes, this is KotOR Online or something close, and EA Bioware is simply shitty at keeping a secret.

2.  It's totally different.  If this is the case, John Riccitiello is a fucking genius and EA Bioware is about to replace Blizzard as the king of secrecy and misdirection when it comes to upcoming titles.

Seriously, I hope it's 2.  I love to be surprised as much as anybody else.  It would also show Ricci to have as much marketing suave as people give him credit for.
