I'm interested to see people's views on this. I see a lot of posts where people constantly refer back to their first MMORPG when comparing games. My first MMORPG was WoW (for shame!) and sadly I fall among those who will make comparisons to it, purely due to my limited frame of reference. One good thing that has come out of this however is that my eyes have been opened to the wider genre (along with millions of others, for better or worse) and I follow all new games on the horizon with great interest. I'm not above switching allegiance should the right game that suits my playstyle come along.

My first MMORPG was Lineage 1 (US version) and while I still hold some fondness, today's games are far superior in many ways. But I did make a lot of good friends there, mostly because the gameplay was pretty lacking, so chatting with friends was the best part of the game. Today's games keep you too busy.

Players come for the game, but they stay for the people- Most Devs have forgotten this. |

UO was my first, but EQ was my first love. So much I miss from the classic era of that game. |

FFXI was my first and definitely my favorite. I didnt appreciate it so much then, but the more I play new stuff, the more I think the earlier MMOs had it right |

EQ is long dead for me. (2002-2003?)
CoX is just dead for me. (2006-2007?)
There are leagues of evolutions between the 2 games, and both are dead for me. I would expect the new game to improve from CoX; and that might just never happen. So I might just go take a walk instead.
At any rate, I am looking, semi-interested. - "If I understand you well, you are telling me until next time. " - René Levesque about the denial NO on the poll to his dream, project and goal. (Free translation) |

My first MMO was Star Wars Galaxies... By far my favorite MMO, and haven't found anything to replace it. I don't think it's entirely because it was my first MMO that I look at it so fondly, but because it spoiled me with the sandbox style game I loved that few can match. It's like being born free and then being tied down for the rest of your life. I miss freedom. Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic |

My first was, big surprise, WoW, and I definitely do not consider that to be my favorite one. Should the option "I hate the piece of crap" be possible to choose I would've done so. |

My first was Anarchy Online, a couple months after release. I played for a long time, and really loved the game. So much content, such a huge world. And then one day I heard about SWG. And although I loved AO, not even it holds a candle to the perfection that was pre-CU SWG. CU hit, and I kept playing. It was different, but I still enjoyed it. NGE destroyed it though. So I wandered from game to game, looking for a replacement, and have never found one that fills the shoes of Pre-CU. Thankfully, I don't have to anymore, because I can finally play it again I remember back in 1999, folks kept asking me if I was stockpiling food. I always answered, "No, I'm stockpiling ammo and making a list of people who are stockpiling food" |

my first MMORPG was neocron, i still to this day go back to the forums every once in a while to see whats up...neocron 1 was the peak of the game, neocron 2 came and i quit as many others did because they ruined a lot of things...it was the only game where i was on it every single day without missing a beat for about 2 years...small community made it even better...ill never be able to find a replacement for the game
Since then i have tried literally every free and most p2p MMORPG's and havent stuck to one yet. Seems like they're all lacking something and sharing the same things, making them all relatively boring...oh well... |

Is your first MMORPG still your favourite? Nope. My first MMORPG was Meridian59 I enjoyed it but didn't feel the love for it, second came UO, again enjoyed it but didn't feel the love, tried EQ but just for some reason couldn't get into the game ( not meaning not able to log, but like the former games I didn't feel the love. The MMORPG that had given me love was and always will be pre-cu SWG no game can compare to it, even in it's current state there is still no game that offers what SWG offered and offers, but I have left the game and think it will be for good now, I re-lived my character last year for 8 months had again lots of fun in it but mainly due to HOW people these day's try and play these games I notice that COMMUNITY was what made my experiance great together with afcourse hte many feature's the game offered, but overall the community wil never be the same as most MMORPG that came after have proven with it's community. There for I am afraid that no MMORPG for now will please me as much as pre-cu SWG did at the time, not only have games changed but the whole community aspect of these game have died due to HOW people these day's play these games. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

EQ 1 was my first mmo i left it long ago and keep moving from different mmos but it still has a special place when i think back to the Zorro rivervale guards who would randomly go beserk and kill everything in the zone |

My first MMO was DAoC I think that game was great until the atlantis expansion that expansion ruined the game as far as I'm concerned and I didn't stick around much after that. |
