So i have been playing alot of AOC, decided to pick this game up.  Created a dwarf rune priest and all i gota say is this combat system is WEAK. 

My rune priest slowly swings his arms around as he cast spells and then I just repeat the system again by clicking the same button.  This combat system feels so outdated!! Even the combat music sucks.

So, You repeat button presses in AoC too. I played in beta and thats all i could handle.

the combat in war is boring, the casting in war is boring.. 2008 going on 2009 and the spells in ultima online look better? give me a break. the spells in VANGUARD look better, and they are REALLY bad.

people are just looking for something new and good, and war is the only thing new so they're going to protect it like a little baby lol. and there are A LOT of ugly babies out there.

Exactly, you played the beta.

I have played and purchased both.

Yes you press buttons in AOC, of course you press buttons to cast spells, there is no voice control in these games.  In WAR everything is SLOW, combat is slow, spellcasting is slow, leveling is slow.  It feels like it's going back to the roots of EQ1.

over 10 million people play WoW, they're fine with the combat as is. Why am I saying that? Because WAR is pretty much the CLASSIC MMORPG combat, the way it's always been.

That the OP mentioned AoC is just even more laughable! And the way he expressed himself overall in a hateful, upset and angry way made me spill my drink over my shirt :D

Oh, and you obviously don't like this game, maby you should get away from here? Or are you secretly in love with the game that you have to be here anyway? :D

I think the problem is people dont play any other mmo's other then a few.  So they "think" these games are amazing and apparently every other game sucks.

I could see people getting mad if I came on here saying the game blows.  I never did, I find the combat and game too slow which makes me dislike the game.

Someone is angry. Awww finally realizing that the monitor doesn't kiss back? Seriously, WAR's combat system is the same old, same old in terms of having it's origins in PnP RPGs....like...um....95% of the other MMOs out there and all the MUDDs, MUSHes & MMOs that preceded it. Sure, you could complain for something new, but, seriously, how is this any worse than any other MMO out there on the market?

Except, of course, that you are avoiding the fact that you are trying to make yourself sound like some sort of an authority.  It is your opinion that the combat is lacking, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.  Of course the evidence that you put forth as your experience with war, playing a runepriest, is severely lacking and therefore causes the validity of your statement to fail utterly and completely.  Been past level 5 yet, how about past 20?  Tried all the classes in the game which, in turn, would give you a good feel of how the combat in war is, in general, rather than in a very limited test case?  Of course you may very well come back with some nonsensical response how you ahve tested ever character through every tier etc etc etc, but the fact of the matter is, if you had, you would have used something of quite a bit more substance than I played a runepriest and combat was slow.

If you think this game has the same combat system you can find in 95% of mmo's your wrong.  Not every mmo is slow to crawl, not every mmo has a stringet one directional combat system, not every mmo has boring unispiring combat music.
