Well techincally it actually involves putting an electical device around your fuel hose that 'thins' it out so that less is put into the pistons.   giving you around a 20% increase in how far you can travel on the same tank.

The creator is working on getting a patent actually licensed right now to one company.  It'll be a big sucess since it can be put on current and old cars, and works for gas/diesel/biodiesal/(probably ethonal), and has the potential of being able to get better efficencies with more R&D hours pumped into it(bad pun).

I'm wondering how much that company will be selling it for.   They're literally going to lining their pockets with cash since it would be able to save billions upon billions dollars of diesel money in the trucking industry.

20% is pretty worthless. You mentioned the truck industry. A fully loaded down 18 wheeler gets about 5-6 MPG.

You know what that equates to? One extra mile per gallon of diesel. When they burn through 100 gallons of diesel you see a difference.

But 20%? Sure, if the device is $100 it'd be great. But why do I highly doubt it.

My cousin built some kind of a doohicky that is consists of a jar full of water and some metal plates. He flips a switch on this contraption and you see bubles flying out from the metal plates; he says that is hydrogen being made, which he runs into his intake. Says he gets 10 mpg better gas mileage outta this..Any of you have any clue what im talking about.???

The fact that he's separating oxygen from the hydrogen, and then inefficiently burning hydrogen fuel?

Two words for you:  Woo-woo.

The OP is actually setting off woo-woo bells (What paper did he publish the testing results in?  Any details?  Anything?).  That's where most of these "inventions that are never heard from again" go - the same place the evidence for bigfoot, the 9/11 truthers and Sylvia Brown's accurate predictions ended up.

I think I rather make an water/gas hybrid... which they sell the tools to do this on many sites like:

There is a movie coming out about the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper. He didn't publish his testing results either, he just developed the wiper, Ford said they were interested, he built a prototype for them, they did a "slam, bam, thank you mam" on him. Eventually he sued all three US auto manufacturers for stealing his invention. He won. What makes you think that business doesn't buy up ideas and deep six those that will interrupt their income stream? Or steal those that increase that income stream?

You think all those amazing devices advertised on television for $29.99 and "if you call in the next ten minutes we'll send you free" have papers published?

I want to see that movie. I remember talking to him and his attorneys about it years ago.

Doubt it works as stated.  They are thinning the fuel content.  However, its that fuel that makes the vehicle move.  If you thin it out, when it ignites it will generate less force making it create less of a spin, which means it will need to ignite several more times for the same effect.  There are other ways to increase gas mileage that are more effective.  One is to increase power without increasing the amount of pistons or fuel intake.  Things like Turbo Charges, and using higher octane fuel.  Another is to decrease your vehicles wieght making it require less force to move.  The last is to use an alternative fuel source like a hybrid.

Right now I think the best alternative source is natural gas powered vehicles.  Hydrogen, Electric, and Air powered cars are still too far in thier infancy to be effective.  Also Natural Gas is a viable fuel form for industrial vehicles where as the others would not be able to power a semi for a long enough duration.

One thing you have to remember is that you will never get as much energy transfered as you put in which is why we use non-renewable resources.  Think about that hydrogen thing with the metal plate.  The amount of energy going in to heating the metal plate was more then the amount of energy gained by splitting Hydrogen from Oxygen.

Is it just me who thinks that trying to decrease the amount of fuel that get's into your engine kind of defeats the object?

Why not just buy an efficient engine that uses the correct amount of fuel in the first place (like everybody else in the world does).

Length edit

The chances of it not working are pretty high of course but you'd need to go through a lot of work to publish an article when you don't believe it works.  20% is also well within a reasonable skew factor of having non-blind tests.

As for why it would reasonably work even though you're putting less in the fuel has less attraction with itself so it ends up filling a wider space/mixing better inside the piston optimizing the fuel to O2 mix.

_________________________________________________________________

As for being 20% it's the law of massive numbers.  20% on one semi isn't much but 20% running on a good number of semi's in the US is massive(technically the test semi's reported 12-16% though).   Now lets say you can get 10% on trains that get 150 to 250 Miles on a gallon of fuel that adds up a lot faster as well,  the fact that you're drawing from the battery is deffiantly no issue there as well since they generate more electricity than battery storage.

The device is pretty simple looks like a bunch of copper coil and maybe some electronics which most likely falls under compacitors only.
