Then you haven't played many games then. Because this game is far from best game ever. The balance is what makes this game so boring. No class in same tier has a advantage over another. A swordmaster should be good vs a chosen and a black orc should be good vs a sword master and a ironbreaker should be good vs a black orc and a chosen should be good vs a ironbreaker. Something along those lines. But the game has nobody better then another class of the same career line. Im going to be following your threads Force_Fire because you will not be singing the same tune in 3 months time i predict.
Oh come on! I can play paper, rock, scissors for free. I don't even have to drive anywere to do it, my brother lives right behind me; I could go over there now and play with him. It just blows my mind that anyone would say something like this about an MMO! What you're saying is that Mythic basically managed to balance a combat mechanic that no other company has been able to do, not blizzard, not sony, not NCsoft. No one. You're trying to take a very glaring positive of the game and make it a negative. BTW, you're wrong. There are elements of paper, rock, scissors in place, just not as bad as some games. Each class plays a role, and will excel in that role if played right. Tanks will have trouble against some classes, ranged dps against others, melee dps against yet another and healers have thier own classes to look out for. The big dif. is that it's not IMPOSSIBLE to beat a class you're a little weak against. As a BW tanks are scarey, not scarey like I'm playing my gnome mage and a warlock just looked at me, but scarey in that if I'm not perfect and that guy doesn't slip I'm going to die, but I CAN beat him. I can't say that about other games. Not WoW, not EQ2, not VG. Warhammer up to t2 is the most balanced game within the classes that I have ever played, and that is hardly something to complain about. |

I just popped into thsi thread for a look, and I think that people are taking what was said a little bit too seriously. Nowhere did the OP say that this was the best game ever. Look again at the title of the thread. The OP said it was the best game they ever played. It's opinion, and an opinion that they were in no way trying to shove off on others. "it's far from the best game ever" is all fine and good as a thought, but it has nothing to dow tih what the OP said... Just saying.

I had complaints about the game during BETA (specifically about the graphics and animation), but I think I can say now the game has won me over. I don't think it's the best game or MMO I have played; I still have some issues with it (particularily the chat and absence of community), but I do think it has turned out to be a solid game. Played: Aion,AoC,APB,CO,CoX,CC,DCUO,DDO,EVE,EQ,EQ2,FE,FFXI,GA,GW(V,F,N),H:L,L2, |

Talk about innovation with never before seen Features. PQ's, RvR, Living Guilds, and badass Combat Scenarios make this game a thing of perfection. Almost no instancing in an open world is a spectacular feature. It appeals to the Hard Core and Causal Gamer alike. Incredible Balance!
Just a sincere question, because I am really interested in how you see this. Okay, PQs I get. I haven't seen those in any other games, and they are well implemented other than the fact that most of the greedy people you group with will roll need on items that cannot be used by their class and would be a great upgrade for you. That's a bummer. But other than that mild annoyance....PQs are a LOT of fun. But I need to understand this.....how is RvR different and innovative from what we've seen in DAoC? How are Living Guilds different from the guild system in EQ2? How are the Combat Scenarios different from battlegrounds in other games, other than being a lot smaller, non-instanced, and more plentiful? See....I see all of those things as really re-hashes of things that were already done. Perhaps WAR does them a bit better, but...I wouldn't really call that "innovative."
In my opinion (and it is just an opinion), the best things (read "innovative") I found in WAR were the way things that the realm accomplished as a whole....affected both The Inevitable City and Altdorf. I was delighted the first time I killed some "bad guys" in The Inevitable City and it popped up in my chat that I had contributed to the progression of the city. Wow, COOL! And I also really enjoyed the stories and unlocks in the Tome of Knowledge. But really....other than those things, I didn't really feel like I was playing something that was terribly "innovative." And sadly....after a couple of weeks (and 50 dollars)...I was left just feeling a bit let down and kind of sad. See....I don't think that ANY game is ever going to please ALL of us. I just don't think it's possible. I think WAR is a fine game. It's definitely not for ME, but I can't disparage anyone from playing it. I AM curious though as to the way people think about the above mentioned things that I have heard espoused as "innovative," when....well, I guess I just don't see that. I think MGS4 is a better game overall but WAR is the best MMO I've played, hands down. - - - |

Second...I have played a number of MMORPGs SWG, EQ2, EVE, COH, RFO, WOW, AOC, DL...Pre-CU SWG was the first and last mmo I really enjoyed playing. WAR is the first Game in a long time that makes feel the way I did back in 2003 when I logged in to Mos Eisely for the first time...better in fact. The fact is all those other game held my attention for a couple of weeks and became just another boring grind. I have been playing this game since BETA 2 (may 20, 2008) and I still can't get enough. I find myself calling in sick to work just to Raid a Keep. I haven't done that since the days of my Jedi Grind. This is a great game IMO and I can't wait to get home to play it tonight!

Its just... fun. I love queueing up for a scenario and then doing some quests to get some xp, do the RvR, get more xp and realm points... it just seems like theres so much to do. They could have made it terribly boring and force you to walk miles for one quest but I feel as if I can get and do many things very quickly. A quest literally does not take a long time, where as I found WoW's questing system to be far more dull. Yes theres still the "go kill x Dwarfs" but I enjoy the PQ aspect and the RvR breaks up that leveling. I also love the fact you get XP from pretty much everything.
People blast the graphics but I like em. Not the best I've ever seen from a video game but its really one of my last requirements for if I like something or not. It just has a nice feel in the world and I've barely touched the tip of the iceberg. I have no doubt this game will succeed and succeed very well. I don't think it'll knock off WoW anytime soon but I think it will top 1k subs and then some. 500k in one week is pretty impressive...
Overall I give the game an A, and coming from a MMO player whos played nearly everything on the market its a refreshing breath of fresh air. Its one of the better, most polish games I've invested in and one I will keep playing as long as it stays this fun and entertaining.

Actually warhammeralliance.com is pretty much their official forums. The customer support for this game has been amazing and they are fixing stuff left, right and center.
You wanna talk about hacks and exploits? I love it how when I log into Stormwind I see nothing but gold spammers, one a second from my walk to the AH and mailbox. About the only time I'm logging in since I've been playing WAR. How about hacks and people getting their accounts stolen? I've even had it happen to me.... I've gotten tons of emails from "Blizzard" employees asking for my passwords. Every GOOD game will have people trying to hack in, because the game is fun and entertaining and has potential. If it didn't, people would give a f@%k.
In short, don't be dumb. If you don't like the game, fine... but don't come up with poor arguments like above and expect not to get blasted. |

On the other hand anyone who thinks a MMO will be balanced after a week is out of their mind, it is a process that takes a long time. Arenanet have people monitoring the PvP battles full time to have it balanced and there is always work to be done because it is the best balance in a MMO but it ain't perfect. Balance takes a lot of time and no Beta in the world is enough to get it really right, Fariic is right that that total balance is impossible. |

You can say it's "pretty much like their official forum," but it's not an official forum. Mythic and EA do not moderate there and rarely post there other than PR stuff. Any method where you have to make an account on a third party site to get some decent user support or ask for help without getting the canned auto-response is a poor method. Fixing stuff left and right? Yes, they are working. But there are 30-50-60+ post threads on WHA, some even started before launch with players that are still asking for issues to be fixed (or just addressed) where they meet all system requirements and can't even get into the game or it's unplayable and their petitions have been in the system for days with no response. Gold sellers do not equal hacks. I'm talking ingame speed/teleport/travel hacks. |
