Each of the five packs subscribers get are the same as the ones you buy with one exception, the cards inside are non-tradeable. So they are only good if you play the game or get loot cards in there, which is always nice. =)
Its worth noting you don't actually get them when you sub, they are issued on your monthly account birth date, mine is the 3rd =P
I love the new expansion, the vehicles are cool *and* useful, and I dare say the new fallen AT-AT house is worth $120 since its a combination of four rare loot cards, if you add up what each is worth in packs I think $120 will be a steal.
[EDIT] Oh yeah, I forgot the other stuff. It can be played ingame and as a stand alone application. You will always have access to both your SWG TCG account and cards regardless of your sub status. So it is like a separate game with ties to the MMO, it plays in a window in the MMO which can be moved aside etc. There are single player aspects to the TCG as well, with scenarios that reward both cards and loot. |

Not trying to be disrespectful to anyone here, but I really think its' ridiculous that people think the $120 or more for loot cards is acceptable. Does the population not see how they are getting ripped off? I think it's crazy, personally. I know someone who spent upwards of $400 on them. I just don't agree with it, but I imagine others like it. I think the TCG is pointless. I don't want to play a card game, I want to play the mmo. And guess what? I already PAY to play in the first place. Again, that's just MY opinion. |

The amount of money changing hands does boggle me sometimes. The new sets of armor in dragonfable and mechquest are just insane, I mean $65 is a huge amount of money for most of us. The crazy thing is people actually pay these silly amounts. Having said that, whatever makes someone happy is cool, everyone has different vaules.
I think $120 for the house is a good deal vs other ways of getting it, I just wish I had that kinda money to throw around. =P |

Originally posted by BarelyEin Um...you realize that $120 is for a VIRTUAL house right? Nobody can actually "live" there. Also... Dragon Fable is a F2P MMO. SWG was a P2P. In a F2P model, a companies generate revenue by selling in-game items. They can enhance the player's in-game experience, power, progression or be purely cosmetic (vanity items). Because there is no monthly fee, $65 for some new armor is understandable. SWG was a P2P MMO, meaning they should generate their income from the players monthly subscription fees. Recently, since the TCG, SWG has become a hybrid of BOTH systems. They still charge the same $15 P2P fee they always have, but they've also introduced a twist on the F2P model. In most micro transactions, players know exactly what they're buying. SoE took that to the next level and has made it a lottery scenario. That $120 could just have easily bought you nothing more than an exclusive dress. The house was NOT a guaranteed item...most micro transactions are.

Everyone that spends money on it have twice as much decorations than people that dont now. My house looks like it did pre-nge which is pretty bland, but everything in it I looted or made. The other is the guy that spends hundreds on the TCG, and he gets a new house, new vehicles with at least 50 new decorations that I cant get, not to mention the buffs they sell that only TCG players can get. But that wouldnt be bad if I could get something in game thats new. They havnt been working on ingame items ever since the TCG came out, and its clear why, so you buy the cards to get new items. Im fed up with the direction they have taken, its one more slap in the face. |

It comse off to me as nothing more than a very clever plot to make a lot of money off an mmo they probably perceive as having it's days numbered. Well, maybe at this point. When they came up with the idea, they probably were just thinking, "Hey we can make those guys pay $15 AND waste who knows how much more on a random lottery for items! We're going to be so filthy rich."
