Tx Coffee. I am not going to watch. I still remember the cut scene I got from the Illidan showing in getting my netherwing Dragon. :) But apparently this "phasing" technology is much deeper than we all think. |

yeah phasing is nice, works verywell in the DK starting area, its like entering an instance without a loading screen. But it also flags up some obvious concerns. I guess time will tell. |

They've killed off key characters before...look at Illidan! Lol
Anyway, I'm more concerned how this will affect factions than anything. Sure in a RTS it's no big deal if an ally splinters off and suceeds from everyone. But in a MMO like WoW it's a fairly big deal if the Forsaken are splintering from the Horde, and...well...the living in general. Mne eto nado kak zuby v zadnitse. |

The phasing tech is amazingly imersive. And it is not instancing. It is more closely tied to what your character can see based on quest flags. There were some small examples of it in TBC such as the repair vendor in Auchindoun that you can see after a quest chain, or some of the quests where you need special items to see or interact with the mobs. But in Wrath they have gone all out with it and done some amazing things. Those cut scenes really are not traditional cut scenes. You are in them. They are playing out in the world around you for the most part. (there is a great one of these at the end of the deathknight quest chain). Some of the effects of teh phasing are very subtle, such as NPC's moving for your character. Others are more drastic, such as destroyed buildings staying destroyed for you. And they do it without serriously segregating out players into instances. As far as faction changes. That cut scene is just the begining of a long chain. They have not re worked who is and is not which faction. But some of the faction leaders and major NPC's have changed. As have some of the motivations and the relations between the factions. Also some of the pure NPC factions such as Argent Dawn have changed and evolved. And (minor spoiler) there would appear to be a third undead faction in play. (4th if you count the deathknights) Alot of what is going on is stuff that stems from some of the earliest starter quests in both player factions. particularly on the Azeroth side of the world. |
