Some stores, like my local Gamestop, will NOT take software back, under any circumstances unless it is to exchange it for a like item. Which brings me to another point, the Wal-Mart closest to me won't take software returns of any kind, regardless of whether it's for like items and if you bitch about it they'll have security escort you out. While another Wal-Mart a little further away will take anything back, even a pair of shoes that's 6 months old, smells like warmed over tuna as long as you give them even a retarded excuse.

Technically, software is NOT returnable once opened (also depending on wording, even if its not opened its not returnable) unless exchanged for a like item.

So folks that insist that it's not returnable may live in an area where their retailers actually obey the law.

I just wonder, what will those shops do after taking your return?  They definitely cannot return it to the publisher.  They cannot resell it since the code is already used.  They won't possibly eat the money themselves.  This sound very funny.

War had a good release.... errr OK, but only because it is an old outdated game at launch.

True, it didn't have many issues that prevented people from logging in, but it is an ancient level of game design.  A game with this low level of depth should be about perfected at this point.  I would hope that, near the end of the first decade in the 21st century, a company could put out game that has the graphics, sound and character depth of  a game from the 1990's.

There isn't anything ground breaking here, just old Diablo, mixed with some WoWesk characters and tossed in to tiny arenas that mythic calls 'servers'.

For as much time as you spend on these forums surely you realized in your travels that WAR was not a sandbox game but you bought it anyway. But I will post as I please.  I have been around these forum and many others long long long before you even knew what MMORPGs were.  And your post count show that blather on about nothing quite a bit for a newbie.

Besides, a few people have to mention that this game isn't very good to cover over the slurping sound that all you little children are making.

I knew quite well what this game was and even more so what it wasn't.  I was good, I followed the NDA, even stayed away from the forum so that I wouldn't be tempted to mention that this game is really poorly done.

Oh, and as for Dakrfall... I have always, and still will go on record saying that it is vaporware.  Beta?  Hardly.  It is the Piltdown Man of computer toys.  It is a hoax - It doesn't exist.

I don't see why you think the game is poorly done? If you are a PvP:er WAR is THE game out there. It takes the ease of access from Guild Wars and adds to the hectic PvP experience with a much more tactical style of play.  As for PvE, the game is not much, but then again, it was not meant to be.

There are a lot of issues that need to be addressed by the developers, but surely WAR is not destined for the same cesspool as AoC.

Not true, I was in closed beta since the beginning, for both WAR and AoC and I hated AoC after the first month. My whole guild was in both betas, and we pretty much share the same sentiments. While WAR still has ways to go to become a truly great game, more than the foundations are in place at launch, very much unlike AoC or many of the other recent releases.

Sure AoC had potential, but let's put it this way, WAR at the moment is a rough diamond, AoC at releases as just an other rock in the mineshaft.

Ok lets discuss how there are WAR fanbois,  they are in force, and many of them will gripe and complain about the game that they are so defensive about right now.

All of this is REALLY funny...the amount of players running to the defence of the game is great. But your all wrong. Most of you raved about AoC and after a few months you started Moaning about it. This will happen with WAR. There are already problems most of you can't see even when there stareing you right in the face. WAR will die, theres no doubt in that...it's just how long it will take. WoW's WotLK and Stargate Worlds are just around the corner and i think many will go to them. WHY you ask...???  Because theres a total inbalence in sides, theres no chat and the game is unsociable. I have 2 lev 20+ characters and even i'm getting pissed off with there being NO RvR or PvP on the servers i've played on because No One on the order side wants to play against 10 Tanks in PvP. Order needs a decent tank and the sides need to be balenced. The game is very good...but the problems are going to kill it...and theres no one of you out there who can dispute that....well...unless your playing a Distruction character and enjoy your easy wins all the time. And the only ones who would enjoy No Compition are those who had there ass handed to them on WoW's PvP and feel like it's there turn to be on top.  So stop talking out of your ass and admit that Mythic got some thing's wrong that they need to deal with...or in 3 or 4 months time most of you will be back moaning how this game is flawed.

 As long as there's people appreciating the taste of crap there's gonna be people appreciating mmo's like this.

It's all about low standards... if you're fine with effortless fun for kids, war is there just for you

It works just like Oblivion.. you shouldn't waste time explaining someone why the game is universally poor you should just ask whether he likes taste of garbage.

Was about to agree untill you mentioned Elder Scrolls. Those are excellent rpg's. And Oblivion is no exception. It just took a different aproach/direction, wich people disliked I guess. But from a Artist's perspective, it has a big value.

WAR is fun, now. It will get old.

I love my wife, she's pretty good in bed, but it gets old...you feel what I'm saying....It's a video game, not nirvana. 

Enjoy it untill the next good/fun game comes out, then play that one, till it gets old....rinse repeat!

But that's not the point, even tho the game is objectively poor, you will enjoy it if all you want is good graphics and running thru lakes and woods... so it's just about how the player is a graphics whore.

And WAR has similar gaming philosophy... if all you will ever ask off a mmo is to plunge yourself on your soft chair for that sweet hour after a day at the desk, log in, chat with your clan buddies, run thru grind quests, do scenarios, conquer a flag and a keep then WAR (and pretty much ANY pvp online game) is right for you, with the further advantage of WAR being the current most fashionable thing to do that will make you feel like in the center of the talk (don't underestimate this factor as Mythic doesn't).

It's not so easy to put together an environment for these kind of players, tho... You need detailed kinda slick graphics, easy and friendly controls, mechanics you're already familiar with. It's a dirty business, all in all.

This game was hyped from the beginning. With people getting sick of Wow they were looking for a new game to play. Warhammer has looked AMAZING for the past year when it's been in closed beta. Funny thing is I never saw screen shots during closed beta. I was going off of that video. Oh, the cinematic videos. Don't they always look AMAZING.

I really enjoy WAR but I can't agree with the OP anymore. I do think starting a thread like this will just get flames. I stopped reading after page 2, lol. I think it truly just depends on what happens in the next 6 months. How they go about fixes and bugs. How they go about fixing their graphic issues that people oh so hate at the moment. Yes, there are graphic problems in the game. However, that's just one of the many flaws in the game right now. Gameplay is what's keeping this game alive at the moment and the hype it received during closed beta.

Mythic did very well to promote their game. Wow did they ever. Not only did they give these bonuses during pre-order but they've hyped this game from the beginning and done everything right. 500,000 subscriptions from pre-orders etc...? wow...it's because people wanted something new. When they logged in, they saw something similar to wow but a pvp version. It's only got little similarity to wow. I think Warhammer is a lot of fun and I think I will resubscribe next month, but after that who knows. It'll probably be repeating bs by that time. PVP 24/7. Know what though, I play on a Good Vs Evil server on Lineage 2 and I usually throw in 2 hours a day on it. I've been playing it since January this year....so I mean pvp never gets tiring. So I don't know how Warhammer will go to be honest. I do know if they don't fix some things they'll lose alot of subscriptions.

The real test will come after this month. Who re-subscribes and who doesn't. 500,000 subscribers on the free month doesn't mean alot. True test will be next month. I just wonder how long Warhammer will last for me before I say screw this and just quit. I dunno so far in open beta and retail it's been nothing but fun. But we'll see!

You're dismissing the game because its visually appealing?

From a gameplay perspective, it may lack a bit of the RP elements. But I always considered Oblivion a immersive action adventure game. And for that, its serves its purpose. It entertains. Yes from a objective standpoint, I can criticize one of todays best RPG's  The Witcher to death too, but I simply prefer not to, and instead just apreciate the beauty the game offers.

Bethesda hired a very respected composer for the game. The music is breathtaking, its not just the visuals. I just think you have unrealistic expectations. Because the game is absolutely not poor. It has alot of entertainment value. You are just too blind to see that.
