If you always keep your word, your word becomes law in the universe.

After getting a few sessions of WAR since release, I have become a total fanbois. I came to these forums to share my enthusiam with Warhammer Online with what I expected to be other wildly enthusiastic players...but  all the top posts are from whatever you call the polar opposite of fanbois! You must all be playing a different game than me!

I play Order on Bechafen. We are severly outnumbered, but it's only a annoyance for people who are in that population bulge who are now reaching the end of tier 2. Tier 1 is fine and tier 3 is empty as I hear it. Our server is not crowded. My guild deliberatly chose a lesser population server after experience queues for WoW on Archimonde, so maybe that's why.

Here are the six things about WAR that are blowing me away:

  1. Immersion: From the moment you enter the game, it's all about war. Unlike WoW, where you hear there is a conflict, but you are sent on a mission to get cooking ingredients, everything you do in Warhammer is directed toward winning the war. The NPCs don't stand around like dummies, they are fighting and contributing too.
  2. Public Quests: As you progress thru the game you simply stumble into battles (Public Quests--PQs). No need to get a group, though you may be invited to one, just start fighting and fulfilling quest objectives.
  3. Scenarios: If all you want to do is PvP. Get started at level 1. Join a scenario, heck get in a group with other races and queue up for all three!
  4. Lots of Play Choice: Lot's of ways to play and progress, loot, renown, influence and experience all have their fun and rewards.
  5. Guild Power: Guilds level, gain rewards, get cool battle standards that cast buffs, vaults, calendars... It's fun to see what you can accomplish together.
  6. No downtime. There is something to do every minute. I craft in the few minutes between scenarios. If quests are your thing, there are almost more than you can do.

Nah, I played the same game as you. Didn't really care for it too much.

1) I didn't really feel immersed at  all. You could jump directly into an instanced battlegrou err I mean scenario(which the instancing kills immersion for me to begin with), and I did enjoy leveling in the scenario, but outside of the scenario it was the exact same boring "kill X amount of Y" quests that you find in WoW.

2) The first public quest I was I thought it was really cool. Then I saw another that was the exact same thing... then another... I didn't find that they were diversified enough to have any longevity on the fun meter.

3) Scenerios were pretty fun, especially being able to jump in there and level in their. But besides the leveling part, they really weren't anything new or special, and I don't see them having much long term value. Again, instanced PvP kills immersion for me.

4) I wouldn't say lots of play choice, rather lots of ways to level up. And yes, I did like their varying ways of leveling up. But they didn't have lots of play choices. You roll a character and fight while you level, thats really only one choice.

5) Indeed pretty cool.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

I am glad you are having fun.  I agree with you on all points besides #1.  I only get immersed while in open world RvR, and then I think it is amazing.

1.  Only kills immersion if you choose to do it...try not using the scenarios there no more immersion destroying *gasp* go to the Open RvR lakes with a warband.

2. Trust me the PQ's change the further out you go....there's some that are incredibly hard to do without a warband...ever try burning a village while the village's high lvl champion Fire Brigad puts them out behind your back then tries to kill you?

3.  Agreed but they're fun for some quick runs if you dont plan to go on a long battle through the RvR lakes

4.  Play Choice / leveling up..they mean the same thing some people aren't concerned with leveling up they just want to play.  Noobs & the obsessed have forgotten about the 'fun' and lets just play to play part of MMOs.

*is done nitpicking your post :) hehe*

Agree with Op.

the one thing where WAR really shines is the little things not the big ones.

They took the usual WOW style game, added all the little things you said to your self it would be nice IF ....... or wouldnt it be good IF ........

threw in alot of PVP and vola its a totaly enjoyable game if you play for fun and not eye candy.
