The issue is not that Blizzard is "Doing" something about it. The issue is the Blizzard takes their sweet time to "Do" something about it. Just like everything else Blizzard does, they spend months discussing anything before they decide to make a change. Spammers can go for ages before they do anything. Mythic's more aggressive approach is infinitely more refreshing. My only sadness is, the gold spammers themselves don't get to share in their own humiliation. I do like the hanging them in the gallows concept for all time. |

In every game I have played, UO,SWG, WOW and now warhammer, I have always found it is easy to make money. It is beyond me, WHY anyone would even use the gold buying services except that they are to lazy to even try to do it on their own.

Was there any need to bring up YOUR opinions on blizzard in this post? Blizzard bans gold sellers all the time. not as easy to monitor 4.5million players (WoW western players) vs WARs 300,000 or so. Also WARs chat channels are empty unlikes wows so its easier to spot and report spammers. In the first 5 weeks of WoW release they banned 18,000 accounts http://www.joystiq.com/2005/12/22/blizzard-bans-more-wow-accounts/ and they have continued to do so. In May 2006 alone blizzard banned 30,000 accounts http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060612-7033.html In October 2006 Blizzard ban 76,000 accounts http://www.playnoevil.com/serendipity/index.php?/archives/883-Blizzard-bans-76,000-accounts-and-removes-11-Million-Gold-from-World-of-Warcraft.html ...... need I go on?
YES LOOK AT WHAT THOSE accounts are banned for not selling gold but using bot programs. This is my point, Wow bans people for using bots, war bans people for selling gold and using bots. Big difference if you cared to read any article you posted you would realize this, however, all you care about is the wow god so you missed this obvious difference somehow. Coffee you should admit your fault here, because in honestly blizzard never has prusude gold farmers just botters. (Which proably included honor farmers and everythign else). I get this but i ask you , if you could work one day of overtime and buy a few days worth of gold farming , why wouldn't you? "Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one ..." - Thomas Paine |

I have pulled back to back 12 hours shifts and spent 12 hours in court between them and I still do not see the need to spend real life money on virtual money. It is easy enough to make the virtual money and you get the sense of accomplishment at the same time.

Speaking as someone who has used the services of Gold Farmers before, there are reasons people will use them. Let us look at an example- WoW. I had a 42 shaman, and knew that level was around the best it was going to be for that character. I wanted a Flurry Axe, by FAR the best weapon for that character at that level, in fact I wanted two, so I could enjoy my character's "glory days". The issue being the cost- around 1k gold, at a level people have struggled their entire career for 100 gold. Options available? 1) Shelve the character, level up a 60, turn my main into an alt, so I can spend (after the levelling time) 20 play hours doing nothing but farming for gold. 2) Farm with my existing character, spending (at 1 hr/ 5g, the rate he could attain) 200 play hours attaining the weapons. 3) Spend $40 real life dollars and have the gold. Since it takes me substantially less than 200, or even 20 hours to earn $40, I went with 3. Am I scum? Surely. But it makes the most sense. There are those who DO feel a sense of achievement farming for money in a virtual world. Personally, I spend too much real life time in pursuit of money, and would rather spend Just a Little Bit more time doing so, in exchange for being able to spend my escape time, my "fun" time, doing things I actually consider fun, and actually enjoying myself. So, I will gladly speak in defense of those who use gold farmers any day of the week. That being said, the reason the economy is so bad is because of gold farmers. A 40 weapon should never cost more than a mount does, no matter how good. It's ludicrous, outright, to have the prices WoW does, and I wholeheartedly encourage people who seek to kill the rot before it spreads. If using gold farmers wasn't a requirement due to ludicrous prices caused by their presence, I (nor any sane person) would never use them. I don't mind spending 2 or 3 (or even 5) hours to achieve my goals rather than support gold farmers, but when my choice is use them or spend 200 hours for the same result? Sorry for the wall of text, I'm drunk atm. The short version- people have legitimate reasons for using them, and it's not just because they are bastards, I would rather the reasons didn't exist in the first place, though, and support fully efforts to kill the gold farming industry. Signed. |

I can't understand how can gold farmers exist in a game like WAR. Levelling is easy enough and money making even easier. We can gank the gold sellers, this might make good exp |

easy, people was items and stuff without having to work for them. as far as making a twink in wow and justify spending RL money to freeze your level, all I have to say is make an alt, level it and earn the gold for the items with him.
