I hate gold sellers/spammers. No, that’s not strong enough, let me try again. I HATE GOLD SELLERS WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING. Ah, that’s better. Now, why do I hate them you may ask? I hate them for a number of reasons, most of which have been detailed in various interviews I’ve done over the years. And now that they have taken their obnoxiousness to new levels with gold service spamming, I HATE GOLD SPAMMERS EVEN MORE NOW THAN EVER BEFORE. For years, lowlifes like IGE have told us, in defense of their behavior, that they a) are just providing a service; b) don’t interfere with players enjoyment of the game. Well, I can’t argue with (a), they are providing a service, just like maggots I suppose but I’ve always argued that (b) is totally and complete BS. Now, those old arguments aside, I can’t see how this new generation of pond scum (new and improved, with 25% more scummy action!) can argue that their constant spamming of chat channels doesn’t interfere with players enjoyment of the game (I’m waiting for the whole “Oh, you can always just turn off chat” argument). I hated seeing their messages when I played WoW or any other MMO and I’ve been waiting for the day that WAR launched so I could have the absolute pleasure of instituting policies to make their lives more difficult so we could drive them out of WAR.

They've been very good about getting rid of them. I was getting spammed//tells last night from them and they got rid of them within 20minutes of each petition and always wrote the automatic "thank you its been received" prompt. 3 Petitions for 3 of them and all were gone within 20 minutes.

It's nice to see for a change I've been in too many mmo's where they just ignore them.

but I rly hope they will be able to get ride of the gold spammers

but my main concern about WAR is the pirate servers I do not know when they will open but they will 1 day or another and when it comes mythic will have to react

Hmm maybe  you could keep a few of the gold farmers characters and utilize the empty stockades with them? Would be fun to throw a few rotten vegetables at them when passing by.

Got a tell from my 1st gold spammer last evening on Tor Archere and thought jeez now these guys we will have to put up with....after reading this blog I am happy to see they are handling this with the same level of aggression as the godless gold spammers.

    Can we put their characters in the stocks I see all over the towns in game? Just lable them spammers and we can laugh.  I look forward to reading my 1st broadcast that a spammer has been cast out.

Gold sellers is somthing no MMO wants so gratz to mythic but also Blizzard are working just as hard.

That's BS, if blizzard wanted to get rid of the gold sellers spam they would have done it long ago. Just a filter in the chat to filter website addresses, how hard is that?

My theory is that they own the gold seller. If you think about it, they can make much more money from this than the normal subscriptions, and doesnt cost them anything or any effort to create gold...

Then why doesn't Mythic filter chat? its becuase the hardware/network resources/man power  required to scan all the chat going on whispers/general chat etc would cause massive lagg.. even more so in WoW where people actualy talk in the chat channels. 

A mass group of players getting together making a macro and spamming chat could take down a server or lag it.

Your right a filter to pick up the word "gold" or a web address could be put in place but just as emails get through our spam filters so with gold spammers.

As to your theory.. I am interested in hearing more how do I sign up for your news letter? =D

 I rarely see gold spam in Wow, so easy to write a filter to remove it.  I took one off the web and modified to suit my needs, it works great.

As to War, I am glad that they are being proactive with this problem.  It is annoying.

I remember at release and the day before I got about 2tells from goldsellers...I can't beleive how fast they travel...it's unbeleivably stupid! I can't beleive people make profits off of this...I wonder what I hate more, account traders or gold farmers.....I mean when I got tells they were al lsaying they have like over 1k and I'm like...holly **** if only us normal people could make that much money :(

Oh ya, I also got a nice dev story.....I was in Altdorf yesterday and I was doing a random quest because I was bored and I fell through the floor and ended up in the ceiling (I have a screeny to prove) and I couldn't get out..I requested a CSR and within 2-5min a woman named Wyenda or something I think got me out and for release I think that's pretty good. Never really got much help from other MMOs, sometimes I had to delete my chars because I got stuck :/

He may hate them, but they are already annoying.  In an hour and a half span this afternoon, I received around  15 whispers from the same company (3 different characters).

Well I couldn't give much of a care over the spammers ... spamming. It is the economy that goes to hell which bothers me.

I hope by Mythic being all over it starting in the first week that inflation won't arise that makes people break down and support the spammers by buying because a thin thread to make drab cape is going for 55 gold.
