Sorry for going off-topic, but that statement there made me chuckle. Back on topic: I see Warhammer Online being based on the Warhammer lore. Now, with that said, being able to make a human swordmaster would be ridiculous, as well as an insult to the lore itself. I myself as a Warhammer enthusiast totally understand this. If you can't, then so be it. "Skill has not cool downed!" |

being a warhammar nut (i cant put down those damn novels and the pen and paper was ok, the least said about the PC games the better i suppose
one thing that peeves me off just a bit (and only a bit and i feel it will sort itself out) is that everyone wants to play in the Empire/Chaos area and, after playing all 3 i found that it sucked compared to the High elf/Dark elf area and both were blitzed by the Dwarf/Orc area (though it was expected since it was the first to be created). I stand corrected Biz, Im not a enthusiast... just a guy playing a computer game and pointing out what would be more fun from a non-lore guys perspective regarding classes and such. If warhammer is after a niche base, thats cool too.. no hard feelings :) I apologize to any warhammer fans who obviously get personally insulted by suggestions to change a worldview or the order of the universe. I know how lore can be (why i left LOTRO) and the tolls it brings to a game long term by staying true. Ill still mess around with War on the non RP server until something better comes out (hopefully in 2009) but if its all gonna stay lore like LOTRO, thats why I left that game after a few months so unless the gameplay is steller, which it isnt, I probably wouldnt stay. |

Well popinjay that's a backhanded comment if I ever saw one...but we both know that, don't we? ;) I think you're right but your method of going about it is incorrect. Rather than add human swordmasters, they need to bring back the empire Knights. Those were the human tank/heavily armored guys. Having to be an elf or a dwarf if you want to be a tank on the Order side does suck, and it is having an adverse affect on the population levels for tanks on Order side. |

HELL NO I DON'T REGRET IT! Rusing into a PQ where both sides are trying to kill the other factions npcs and beeing able to fight the other faction kicks serious ass! Haven't had this much fun in ages! Even though my side was outnumbered 3:1, flanking the enemies lines and droping their casters before the rest noticed was extremely fun last night, I though I was at it for about 30 minutes... it turned out to be about 3 hours. People can say whatever the hell they want about this game but until you try it, you won't really know. For me it's FUN and that's what matters. Don't let people tell you what the game is... go out, buy it or wait for a trial and find out for yourself. WWAAAAGGHHHHHH! |

I wouldnt say "boxed in". Seems boxed in would be having to play a class cause the lore SAYS you have to play a class. That to me is boxed in. (you are a human. humans can never be Swordmasters. go to your place). But one thing.. why isnt Permadeath an option in this game? Didnt characters die in the Warhammer books for good? Or were everyone rezzable? |

Well, I think you're taking this a bit too far. WAR seems to be based (a lot) on the tabletop game, as well as the lore. In the tabletop game (Or P&P version for that matter), there is no such thing as a human swordmaster (Again, I call on that one xD). I think Mythic took the common Archetypes (Tank, Healer, Melee dps, etc.), and then simply looked at the races and identified their specific classes in both name and use. The novels, however, seem to be a bit more forgiving in these matters, but not much. And Permadeath...well......we used to run permadeath pen & paper games in the Warhammer world (Warhammer Fantasy I think it was called). A lot of fun. However, I didn't have to pay monthly fees for those :). I think that says it all. EDIT: I just realised, wouldn't a human swordmaster be an Empire Greatsword? "Skill has not cool downed!" |

This is most likely the WOW killer for me and I've been playing WOW since beta, with a 70 in every class. This game is a lot of fun for me and since I've started playing there has been no thought of loading up WOW again. Sure, this game has some issues and things to get use to but give it time and it will be even better. WOW came out with tons of problems and this one is running smooth for me right out of the box. |

You should start the same poll again in a couple of weeks when the overall "new" feeling has worn out. |

Biz, Good to talk with you on this warhammer issue. If your guild is anything like your personality and maturity on replies, your guild will give warhammer the GOOD name it should have. I just tend to think based on the usual "fanboi' responses that are given here, that the reverse will happen long term and youll get two types: the elitists and the kiddies from WoW. ( no /facepalm added here.) or other /emote I can tell Biz, that you and your guild will have much honor and fun. Good luck to you in game with Warhammer, friend! :) Oh btw.. do you play on a RP server? you sure seem extremely knowledgeable about this lore...

That being said, the results of the poll should not suprise. One, most people who bought the game on this forum probably played the OB. So, if the OB didn't turn them off for whatever reason and they still bought it then of course they aren't unhappy with it in this short of time. Maybe run the poll a month or two from now to see a different result. Second, this is a poll of players on THIS site, most of which are young fanboys so the poll in no way represents a cross section of average mmo players. |

Yea I dont regret my buy but everything I saw from the warhammer open beta video is misleading a lot..
I Don't regret it because I try to not regret anything I do, but damn I got this game for the rvr and it happened once... ONCE.. I am always searching for pvp and almost never find it. The only tier with some pvp is the empire/chaos tier and there is a big lapse of time between them.
So the only option for pvp avid player like me is to go for the full server. Here is the catch: I generally don't have time to queue before playing, waiting an hour before playing is even againt what i heard from the official warhammer podcast.
They clearly say in the "crafting" podcast that if you only have an hour to play, well you craft something that last an hour... lol that was a big joke... okay, I am pretty sure this will switch when everyone hit lvl forty since we will all be in the same tier, but I wanted to go there rvring.. (edit: not sure if I should leave the above line there, i'm in for some flame)
anyway i like warhammer pve... the pvp is nice but it just never (or almost) happen... on my med-med server. It's already the 3rd realm I try (no full) and I hope lots of players will come to my server.
If not I will just look at my character doing nothing. That also happen a lot, it's a habit I got from being bored to hell from wow.. doing nothing and stare at my toon.... meh.. I tried open server, order side to be the underdog and fight everyone but it was impossible to do the quest due to destruction player stoping us to do so (litterally).
I know it's still early to judge since a lot of peeps rolls alts and take their time. I guess I will wait and see for myself like I always do. |

First game since eq1 that i actually have to get up and walk away from, or I would not accomplish anything rl wise at all otherwise. Hands down best game i have spent money on in a long time mmorpg or any other genre personally. I think the slow leveling plus always something to do is just nice. I have actually had the time to learn how to play my character properly. As much as I am doing, I am still not leveling so fast that i am outleveling my ability to learn how to use the new abilities i have. Did greenskin to chap 4, and now I have moved to Dark Elf and just up to Chap 4. Probably when i get that Chapter done with, I will move over to Chosen and do the same thing. It is just flat out fun. It has been way too long time since I got this much enjoyment out of an game. |
