I did notice that. To me it implies that there is some sort of correlation between all the ratings. I find that unexpected and somewhat disturbing because I had thought that the scoring was all based upon raw mean averages.

Could also simply be fanboys downvoting the other titles to make their favourite title (in this case WAR) higher overall on the scoreboard.

Is this really that important that we need to start discussing conspiracy theories?

You cannot ever take Mmorpg.com "USER" ratings seriously,unfortunatley the rating are fueled by Tit for Tat fanboi / Hater wars the Fanbois will rate the game as high as possibly the the Haters will come along and rate as low as possible, anyone that take's any notice of these rating is sadly not getting an accurate picture of the game.

However on  another note the actual ratings by "Mmorpg.com staff" themselves are usally reasonably fair and unbiased.

DAOC was the most enjoyable game before but what killed it for me were the buffbots and the dying game population. WAR is like DAOC on steroids and a huge base. Its certainly the fix for PVP peeps but of course PVP is not for everyone. Each to his own i guess

Maybe they realised that you don't kill a PvE game by making an RvR game, even if it's very good. I'm sure Blizzard can feel the impact of WAR, but it's not going to kill it. That's just a silly thing to believe.

I disagree(with the sound and community).  For as many fanboys rate it high, there are just as many trolls rating it at a 1.

Too be fair most of the War fans didn't act like that, they just wanted a fun game something to maybe even get them from wow if they were playing it, it'll do good, it doesn't have to beat wow numbers.  Yeah there are some fanatics here that think the game is the end all be all of all mmo's but hell we have those too on the WoW forums and they are all wrong heh.

DAoC was in the top five in the ratings list for years. It only recently went off of it. I suspect that WAR will be the same. Both are most excellent games.

 Something is f'ed up with these ratings.  LotRO was a solid 8.42 before WAR launched.  LotRO was launched 1.5 years ago.

Now I see LotRO, EVE, and all the others somehow pushed well below 8.0?  WTF?

its like this at every launch...for every game. Hell even AoC was #1 for like a week or 2. Give it time for it to balance out....and never take rankings as meaningful the first month.

i would say no. Ratings and hype are algorithmic and take forum activity and ratings into the equation. So due to the increase in page views that war is getting due to launch, the % of people viewing the war forum is taking away from the % of the others (like lotro). Least thats how i understood it when i read a post way back when regarding ratings.

And we WAR people are NOT DARKFALL....we dont sabotage for shear numbers
