Just noticed WAR is currently the highest rated MMO on mmorpg.com, and not just by a little. If you go to the released games list and sort by rating, you'll see WAR on top at an impressive 8.96. How do you see this rating going in the future? Bear in mind the game has just released, and will continuously improve over the next few months as the developers work on some of the kinks - but also bear in mind that the game could still be riding the hype wave. How do the ratings usually go with most MMO releases here? It's obvious enough that it's a solid hit already and that it's here to stay. But even World of WarCraft with its massive popularity is a lot lower rated than not only WAR, but also many MMOs that have vastly lower numbers. |

Most new MMOs are on top for the first time after release, because fanboys vote it high. Wait, until normal people and trolls vote for it to see, where it belongs. Graphics, sound and community deserve a zero, rest is ok Everyone not playing wow is a wow hater! :P |

They're always way high right after launch. Shoot Age of Conan was over 9 and look at it now. I'd say the current rating does not say much about what the rating will lvl out to. My guess is eventually it will go somewhere between 7 and 8. |

It seemed a bit too high for its current state - while I love WAR and will be playing it for years to come, even I didn't give it that high a vote (the elements you mentioned, although 0 is probably quite extreme and I voted higher than that on those elements, lowered the overall rating of my vote). |

Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa, Hellgate London all these were first for weeks with rating over 9.0 and then dropped to where they are now. WAR will be no exception. |

Wow years to come! Think about what you just said, scarey... I can't see myself playing these games years to come, and if you can I feel for you. These games now days are not yearly games they are a break till the next best thing to kill your addiction. |

Lots of games get huge ratings when first released as a result of the "hype wave" as you put it. In a few months (3 to 6 months would be my guess) it will drop to a more reasonable score. From what I've been hearing, this game is pretty much DAoC with a Warhammer skin and a few new features. Nothing all that great. Not everyone is into RvR and once the hype dies down I suspect this game will become more of a niche title thats well liked among its target audience and mostly ignored by everyone else, like EvE Online. Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. I played WoW for about 3 years until I got too bored with it. It's not like playing multiple games for the same amount of time is magically "better" somehow. |

Very high ratings for a new, aggresively marketed game are always initially very high on this site. Imo they will stabilize at 0.5 points above the next best thing (that would be 8.2 I believe). The game is definitely worth it. The interesting thing about it is that the ratings actually started slightly rising a few days after the release which is an almost unheard-of precedent on this site. It is only during the past few days they began to sloowly slide down a 0.01 at a time. Weird. |

Well deserved, hopefully the game can maintain this momentum. |

Being an MMORPG.com follower for several years, almost all major titles hit the 1st spot when they're released. EVE and EQ2 have been there for ages. If WAR can do that, you can celebrate. I'm afraid now that the rating gets noticed the flamers will wake up and drop zeros for it just for the heck of it, without ever actually playing the game. I would personally need a free download and at least 7 day trial to say anything about the game really. |

WoW is, by far, the most popular MMORPG in the world. It's rated 18th on this site. 18th. It's rated behind Sword of the New World. Seriously. As much as I like this site and am impressed by the way they display all their ratings, it's impossible to attach any meaning to the results when the community voting here is so far askew of the mainstream. I'm not saying WoW should be the top rated game, but 18th?

New games always seems to have higher rating, and after a while it slowly decrease. A few days ago WAR had a rating of 9.1, and it have already sunk a bit. I remember WoW had around 8.9 in the beginning, and now its down to 7.38. Same thing with GW, about 9.0 when it was new and now 7.51. |

I think it's more interesting how the ratings of all of the other games go down when there's a new release - anyone noticed that? |

It's a good game but if they don't do something about the pop balance and soon I can see this game dieing fast. |

I disagree(with the sound and community). For as many fanboys rate it high, there are just as many trolls rating it at a 1. |
