How many times will players tolerate playing scenarios that are model themselves after the two worst WOW battlegrounds while WOW is raising the bar with the Normandy Battlegound.  How long are players going to mindlessly zerg the same keep gates while WOW players are actually tactically placin their seige machinary and blowing up bridges and destroying walls.
Warhammer was a step up from WOW's pvp in BC.. but it will be a huge step backwards from Lake Wintergrasp.

It's currently at #5 on xfire. None of the other MMOs (other than WoW, of course) even come close. I think the next MMO is at rank 30 something. Now it's just a matter of continuing to work its way up over time.

*Use* the Xfire stats and compare times and time spent today and a few weeks ago and you may have something. (Like comment on a dropoff in the time played in WoW for example since WAR released).

 

But then I think that's beyond people that can't even read press statements correct and just cry "Zomg 1,5 million units sold to customers!" even though it *clearly* says they didn't :)

Well, that's your opinion i personally find warhammer to be better than WoW and i played it for years.

Gasp, an expansion to a mmorpg which has had 4 years to establish a huge player base selling more than a new mmorpg!? If any game sold more than Wotlk that would be quite an achievement.

But yeah, i agree on Xfire being crap, totally meaningless.

I'll give WAR until mid January, if its still holding strong then it has earned its rank in my book

anyone who wants to know how warhammer will turn out just needs to rewind back to daoc days..daoc was top notch until the toa force fed crap, and wh will just end up getting the same with a different name.

While X-Fire can't tell the total number of players.    It can show trends.    If after 3 months a game has only half the number of X-Fire users playing it then its a pretty safe bet that the total population of players dropped considerably.

give it up.  some people are not capable of abstract concepts.  "I don't run xfire so it isn't counting me therefore it is meaningless"...

I play Warhammer Online, and do not have XFire and never plan to.

But its good that XFire is showing its users how WAR is doing within its own users.

What I enjoy watching is the interation of folks bashing Xfire talking about know one knows it; Therefore it cannot be accurate.

However, not everyone uses Amazon and yet some of the same folks bashing Xfire is looking at Amazon for their statistics. 

I bet if you monitor both Amazon and Xfire you will see the same trends for both games as they happen. Now if you go to a website that is solely for warhammer players and they sell both Warcraft and Warhammer let us guess what the outcome will be.  Yep, warhammer is above warcraft.   Listen you don't have to be a fan boy to understand human logic and numbers correlations. 

Whether it is Xfire or Amazon or EBGames that is keeping track they will all hold the same trends. I would trust any site that sells all games unbiased over your word of mouth anyday.

Keep watch for yourselfs instead of bitching from the hip and you will see that I am right.

What is going on is that some warhammer fanboes see their game up on the list and get excited and want to talk about it.  Fine, does it hurt you warcraft fanboies?  No,  so why come in and try to bash their stats on baseless arguements?  Does it make you feel manly? Somehow smart? 

In the end, warcraft will always be #1 until some virtual 3d emmersive type game comes out.  Until then no other game will come close to it's popularity.  So you WOW boy and girls have nothing to fear.
