I played the game from launch for the first two months, I had fun but ultimately I realized I was looking for something more sandbox style and the constant crashing of zones didn't help much. But I still had some fun, and in no way totally hate this game. My question is this: Is the game really dying? I would be some what saddened to think that AoC is actually going to die so soon after launch, it did have some decent features, and from the 10 hours or so I've played of WaR, I would say AoC is the supieror product if FC can fix the bugs? So what's the scoop guys are there lots of empty servers now, or is this just fanboi trollism at it's best?

If it contains the words video and game, it must be a WOW clone.

I haven't tried every server so take this with a grain of salt. With so many servers and such a huge loss of customers, it's pretty safe to assume there are quite a few dead servers.

If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all.

Maybe you didn't read his post; "from the 10 hours or so I've played of WaR, I would say AoC is the supieror product if FC can fix the bugs?"

OP:

From all sources the majority of people that are playing say that AoC is fixing the bugs and the last patch was the best yet. There are many people who have played the game at launch and not come across anything major and there are those that have. When you read posts from people currently playing the game giving up-to-date info and not some people who played the game 3 months ago you will see the difference.

As for best server, recommend you go to the official forums and read the first few pages of each server specific forums to get an idea. In N.A. I would say Cimmeria server is the most populated.

LOL! AoC is one of the shallowest MMORPG's ever launched. If you think adding useless "PvP experience" and a new set of armour is going to save this POS you are dillusional. Bugs can be fixed, boring gameplay with no sense of purpose cannot.

Does this come from experience first hand after 2 days of playing the latest patch?

Didn't think so.

There is a little more than one set, try close to 400 items for starters that just went in for PVP gear.

How long it took when WoW had their first one (1!) pvp-reward set for each class in-game? I cant remember but im pretty damn sure it took longer than AoC.

With the direction the Devs is heading with this game, i would say soon the sub will pick up again. but you have to give them a few more months till they implement it. Watch it up with erling latest video, and you will see. Or continue to play other games while reading up on the patch notes....

Except that WoW already had a complete and relatively polished PvE experience in place at launch before going back and working on PvP.  AoC had dickola at launch for both of them.

Waving your arms around proclaiming that there's finally something to do in AoC four months after launch probably isn't the best plan.

From my own personal experience, for the first month of both WOW and AOC, AOC was playable far more and had less issues, AOC Was smooth, and a nice experience, Wow rolled my toon back twice and servers down most the time.

And wasn't this thread aimed at people still playing the game anyway, and by the sounds of itm you don't. So your comments are Null and Void

WoW's overloaded servers was a completely seperate (and far easier to fix) issue from AoC's embarrassing lack of content.  Besides, I'm sure that any game that reduced the game world to thousands of tiny instances would have a smoother launch than a game with a single non-instanced world.

At any rate, if AoC has any hope of surviving whatsoever, Failcom needs to lure back the people who bought and launch and quit in disgust before their free month was up.  You're not going to get too many new box sales, and the fifteen or so people still happily playing are going to have to deal with the fact that Failcom can't cater to them.

Been playing since launch (except for 4 days of WAR) and have played almost every day.

Is it dying? No its not dying, but it has lost numerous players and is in need of a server merge or char transfers for some servers. There are some servers that are quite full so it all depends on where you play.

As for the bugs, their last patch has fixed numerous issues that I personaly had.  Villas are now fantastic zones for me (before this patch I would only get 4-5 FPS) and I am now seeing 20-25 FPS. They seemed to fix a good deal of the memory leaks and knock on wood I have only had one lag spike in the past three days. I have a 8800gt and play on high settings and I am getting about 40-60 fps.

I dont have reasons to wave my arms in any direction. WoW had their first pvp-set, took that path and they really went far from it. If you look what's the thing and maingoal in WoW nowadays, cant say its purely just good thing to do anyway.. but at least its called progress and i dont take *Lol'ing* from people who have heard their "own" opinion from their friends about AoC and say people who actually plays AoC are dillusional. Its not more pile of crap like any at the market these days, and it only can get better.

Some servers are quite empty while others are still big. I play on Crom, never a problem to find a lot of players there. Ymir on the other hand is suppose to be almost empty (or at least that what's people playing there says).

So, no the game isn't dying, it is still bigger than LOTRO, EQ2, Vanguard and may others. A few servers seems to be however.

Most of the buggs are actually gone now, the memory leaks seems to be gone, there is still a few quests that works a bit bugged, like kidnapping and torture (which works sometimes but often buggs) and the gemcrafting quest that forces you to zone between every gem you makes but most the stuff is fixed too.

There is still a lot of things to do, we are waiting for the new zones and the second part of the PvP patch.

So why do you few fanboy's that are left insist on going to WoW over and over again? It is funny how I never mentioned WoW, and in fact most ex-AoC players rarely do. Why do you think that is? I could compare AoC to WoW all day and it doesn't change the most important issue: WoW is one of the most successful games ever released for the PC. You can compare release issues that you had all day, and it doesn't change that fact. You had a toon "rolled back" in 2004 and you are still concerned? Big deal. WoW didn't get 10 million subs by accident. Just because you couldn't handle it doesn't change the fact that WoW was and still is one of the greatest games ever released. Comparing it to AoC is not even relavent. AoC is not even remotely in the same league.

That being said, I no longer play WoW. However, WoW has nothing to do with the topic here. Therefore, your comments are "null and void".

Well I don't know who was the first to comment on Wow, but as I played both at launch, I though it relevant to comment and point out that its not the same story for everyone.

Here is one for you, you no longer play AoC why are you even posting on this thread?

Didn't you read the topic title?

If people can't face that AoC is trying to get back on track, with PvP patches that are received in a good way and plans to fix what is lacking - why do they derail these threads? where do the  people who want to talk about the game they pay to play go?
