Malazan? It's already an RPG. No big stretch to make it an MMO. |

I'd like a MMO based in the world Neal Stephenson created for the Baroque Trilogy, pirates, science, court intrigue, massive wars, apocalyptic doom mongers etc. etc. The books were massive in scope, and would seem near-perfect for a MMO. Or is it just me... |

So I checked out the series on Amazon and it runs a lot of comparisons alongside Martin's series. I guess what were teh chances of these two sgugestions being offered side by side. I guess if I wuold of known what the series was about, I would of just agreed. By the way with the first book, is it really that complicated until you get to the second book and would the later books clear things up better? I would hate to have to jump between books or having to take note of everything to make sure I catch something 1-2 books later, feels a little tedious. Sorry reading reviews of the series since I been on the hunt for a new one. |

I just have to agree with a few of the choices that have been made here so far, but each has their own set of problems that will need to be overcome to be truely great. Pokemon: would be great and would make the figthing more fun, but sadly if it ever were to be made I am pretty sure that it will only play on a Nintendo system, and I for one will not be buying one of them anytime soon. I did however buy a DS Lite just to play Pokemon Diamond, but the Wii doesn't interest me. Avatar: Love movie and the world, but I fear that the game would be far too one sided. I think a vast majority of players would want to be on the side of the Na'vi and not play the humans. This could make pvp and faction based things in a mmo uninspired and dull, because one side would only be fun if they had weapons and gear, while the other is more agile and physically strong. The Elder Scrolls: Would make a great mmo, and I hope Bethesda is working on it now. I just hope they fix a few things in the game that I am fine with in a single player game, but bug in an mmo. The animations in Fallout 3 are better than they were in Oblivion, but are stilla bit too robotic like for an mmo. Also would need to have more character customization and clothing options. Also would need to try and make the races a bit more different other than mostly just retextured versions with slight differences. |

ELDER SCROLLS Great potential here however to trully use that potential you need to add in a bit of 2nd life player created content. One of the greatest things about that game is the amount of player created content so if for a mmo to be as good as the games it would need a way for players to add content to the game. Also you'd ned to fix a few of the exploits (unlimited potion power in morrowind =p).
TOTAL WAR Another good game but would need some bugs fixed and would need to be reworked as a turn based system won't work in a mmo.
DYNASTY WARRIORS For those who havn't played the series: Imagine taking a few characters from final fantasy and chucking them into the middle of a battlefield from total war series. Now imagine an mmo where you lead an army of minions bodygaurds sub generals to attack an enemy using siege weapons fire traps, mass spells and other fun stuff. Add in a bit more RTS/sim sity elements and you could have a very nice game. Into the breach meatbags |

Since a majority of the good one's are taken so far, I'll go with, Maniac Mansion. Maybe um, Demon Sword. |

Final fantasy of course. A turn based game where you controll more than 1 toon. Which is not what final fantasy online is doing. |

Something in the Deus Ex universe would be sick. I'm thinking a bit like Face of Mankind or EVE, so that powerful players can still influence the world and thus you can have player-driven conspiracies and stuff. But you have to join factions, like in FoM, so that you know (prettymuch) who you can count on. Cmon, you know you want it... "Smacking kids doesn't hurt them, kinetic energy does!"- Doctor Tobia |

Originally posted by Jairoe03 A Song of Ice and Fire and Malazan are sorta similar, though I'd say Ice and Fire is more realistic and gritty while Malazan is fantastic and gritty. It's not that they're completely different, it's just a different concentration of certain elements. The books are indeed a bit muddled to get into, with a lot going on, and not a lot of foundation. If you want something crisp and clear, no, I can't recommend the books. Not that they're bad, but they may not be for you. |
