I am suprised that you can wait for 8hrs download. |

Anyone have a link to a beta download that doesn't require a beta key for the client?
Like fileplanet host the beta client still but you need a key just to DL it. |

The only one I have is the torrent version: http://torrent2.eamythic.com/WarBeta.torrent The torrent is still active, and not NEARLY as painful as AoC beta dl was.

First, majority of the forum users on here are jerks. If you say you don't like a game you are a troll, if you like a game you are a fanboi. They all think they are the best gamer/computer operator/person in the world. Asking a simple question will get you called names.(idiot, loser, little kid, stupid) If you have low forum posts, you're a noob. Just like if you were in a game, if you're a lower rank than the other person you're a noob and don't know what you're talking about. It all transfers over to here. They all like to act tough because they're sitting behind a computer. Second, don't count on getting a response from EA within 24 hours, I didn't. I tried cancelling my preorder on the 10th which is plenty of time. Received a response on 12th asking for oder information responded back that day. Didn't here anything back from them till yesterday the 18th saying it's too late now. When on the 10th it wasn't late or even on the 11th or 12th. But their CS sucks, I wouldn't expect their help very much. |

i agree that their C.S. sucks at this point and that they should have been ready for a huge amount of technical problems on day 1, i'll also agree that there are a lot of idiots on forums that don't read anything and just post stuff. i'll also go out on a limb and say that if you did happen to reach some one on the phone for tech support for this issue, that they are going to explain in a nice way that their is nothing they can do on their side and thta you will need to attempt to d/l the game again. i had the same problem with my d/l twice during beta, only thing to do was start the d/l process back up and hope for the best. personally i wouldn't have went ahead and started my account before i got the game installed. |

Just like someone mentioned before.
Downloading a massive file in regular or zip or torrent format is prone to error. Whether due to internet connection losing packet information or a firewall or virus-protection screwing up the process.
When it comes to digital downloads, inability to unpack a file is NOT their fault. If everyone can make it work but you, it is most likely due to a problem in the download. Download it AGAIN! If it doesn't work still, turn some active programs off and try again. If you can't turn off your computer protections because you're constantly being assailed by trojans--- that's a problem.
It took me 3x to download AoC properly back then. It took 2x for me to get WAR active. Why? Internet and active programs interferring with my download. |

First off: You are having a problem. I would like to help you. I noticed you said you had 23 gigs left, but the download was 12.6 or something like that. I have no experiences with EADM, but if it is trying to extract the files from the format it is using to install it... You might be looking at it needing another 13 gigs on top of what it takes to install just to have a prep-space for this game. I doubt this though... I'd recommend clearing up some space regardless and looking for EADM support. The problem is not the game at this point, it is it's delivery system. So WAR support would likely redirect you to there. You could call any of the EADM game support calls and merely state: "I'm getting this error when I try to install this game." Theoretically... good support.... should let you know if you need to redownload it. |

Yeah, it's cool, I called my brother and he is going to give me the closed beta client on disk after work.
We will install that when I get home and hopefully it will patch itself up to live.
If not I will sit through another 8 hours of download time.
The half assed statement was made in light of the customer server side of things and the way they are handling the digital downloads without any support what-so-ever. It is a crappy way to do business. Never had any issues with Mythic during the DAoC days, guess throwing EA into the mix can cause issues. I have no judgement on the gameplay yet either way, I have seen it played, I know what to expect, but I will wait to pass judgement once I get it up and running on the home pc.
I just didn't appreciate that guys ignorant response when it is obvious he is one of those people who like to stir trouble. People like that bother me. My OP was to actually probe and see if anyone had any similar issues with the EA Download Manager. I guess out of 100's of thousands of users, I am the only one.... |

Liquidwolf is right. I forgot to add...
If you download something as large as 10-12 GBs and have 23GBs left over, your virtual RAM takes up a portion of that 23GBs without you knowing. Additionally, you may need a good chunk more space to extract that. So your 12GB client is now 24GBs, due to the original zip and the client itself.
This also leads to an "Unable to Extract" error. |

Thanks for all the advice,
I have several things to try in a few hours when I get home, the beta client being first just to save the hastle of freeing up space and dl time.
Still pisses me off though that the support for a hyped game such as this is so poor. There is also no support for the EA DL Manager on EA site. You can search knowledge base for it, but you will get 2 responses both in regards to cookies which I know is not the issue.
So anyway I will get it working. EA/Mythics Customer support and lack of forum support is shit though, no matter how you cut it. |

Originally posted by skydragonren Argos5 is right, if the EA client loads the entire compressed file into memory prior to extracting, you will not have enough space to extract the files. I would seriously suggest making more space as a quick resolution. Also, EA has a whole support catagory for EA Download Manager. I know, I looked for your problem. However, of the ~50 problems listed, none showed your issue. Well, I tried. |

LOL, seriously it's fine man, I been at work all day and let the steam go a little. I will free up some space I have about 12 MMO's in a folder right now collecting dust in which I have the disk for them all. I could free up 100 gigs if I need to. Plus I have access to a beta client so I have enough to keep me occupied for tonight anyway getting it working :-P It will work, just frustrating. |

What were you using to extract the data? If you haven't tried it, give 7zip a try. For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all. |
