I just picked up warhammer yesterday and was instantly struck with how similar the character animations and movements were almost indentical to lotr.the similarites are uncanny,it made me wonder if someone who desinged lotr also had a hand in designing war.anyone else own both and can vouche for my observation? |

Not sure. But I played Lotro for 2 months and the main thing that bugged me about the game was the animation. It just didn't feel "right." They all looked really stiff. After playing Warhammer for an hour the animations do feel really good. I see some stiffness here and there but it feels closer to normal to me. |

You really need to change the topic title to "warhammer animation very similar to lotr"... because the graphics are nothing like LoTROs. They both have a completely different style. |

Can't agree with this. Lotro is much better imo - feel more alive and the avatar feel alot more connected to the ground. WAR's graphics reminds me of Requiem - Bloodymare to be honest. Animations and movement: haven't really noticed yet... |

LOTRO looks a million times better than WAR. No way it looks similar. Espcially if you play the Hi-Res LOTRO. |

I'm mainly referring to the characters and the character movements but there is also many other things that are totally similar to lotr.how can anyone not see it? |

lotro has good landscapes..the character look rubbish to be quiet honest. war's landscapes may not be the greates but the characters look great. War also has very dynamic lighting. |

But the comment higher up about stiff movement I am baffled about, there is so much movement that goes into fighting, crafting, huge ammount of emotes and mount quality. Whats stiff about this

Whaaat, is this guy for real? Did you even try to compare the view range for objects, hills, trees...? Did you try to use dx10 for lotro? Did you have everything on max in Lotro and tried to compare everything on max in WAR? I can't believe this hype shit around WAR. The fanboys are so blind they even make out this extremly stupid comparisons. Amazing. |

certain things should not be said, not even if joking... :) WAR graphics are horrible, the graphic engine is not optimised and stuttering. I mean, you can't even set Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic Filter in game options!! And, furthermore, WAR animations are simply unbelievably awful: high elves run like a someone with mobility problems... Certainly WAR will be better than LOTRO in a million different aspects, but certainly not in the field of graphics

I've played both games. Not sure how you can say LOTRO graphics are even remotely similar to WARS. LOTRO graphics in DirectX10 is just amazing... WAR I found the graphics to be very dated and the animations stiff and uninspired.

Hmm, ok do i need to post pictures of female high elf faces? Even if LOTRO male elfs look more feminine, they aren't close to a joke how high elfs in WAR look. Female high elves are all ugly. Even if u compare all races in WAR, high elfs look worst. And for the animation part. What is it so appealing in slow motion running. My hobbit minstrel maybe looks more stiff, but defenately runs faster then my dwarf runekeeper. BTW i'm running WAR on HD4870 so don't start with hardware problems, freshly installed 8.9 drivers. And if we continue with faces, should i post hobbit face vs. dwarf female face? Dwarfs look less detailed and less sharp.

LOL. Yeah, and Everquest 2 is clone of AoC, and PONG! is a clone of tetris. You don't make much sense :) DB Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is. |

In any way WAR have graphics like LOTRO. Even not using DX10 on LOTRO its completely diferent. The landscapes in LOTRO are much more detail, the chars specially the human or elf kind are much more perfection in face and movments. I still didnt see high level gear in WAR since i only reach 13 level with my WhiteLion bur we can see that for the NPC gear and the details in LOTRO are very superior. With this i am not saying that WAR as bad graphics like otherwise its good enough but its not comparable and the movement system of WAR chars are a little behind in time regarding LOTRO and other games in the market. |
