This game ha already sold 1.5 million pre orders, no MMO has done that not even AoC after release.

They shipped 1.5 million boxes to stock retail stores, those are not pre-order numbers.

Think again.... They shipped what was sold. more coming.

Reading & Comprehension skills seem to be lacking on MMORPG.com with some people. The article says they shipped to retailers 1.5 million units and that their pre orders were the highest for any EA Game these are two different facts.  Otherwise by english standards they would of said "1.5 Million Units Pre Ordered" but they didnt' they said "Shipped to Retailers" its still a mega good sign how ever and being on one of the 5 servesr that are over populated I have no doubt this game will be big.
Will it be a WoW destroyer? Doubtful..even the Devs have said they just want the Number 2 place.  Why some noob fans try to hype it any further than that is beyond me and it always gets bad results

LMAO reading? Read it again.... Either way you look at it those copies are sold. Wow destroyer? Never said that but it will take a huge chunk and from early numbers I say 3-5 million players in the first 3 months. Blizzard is scrambling trying real hard to offset it but only causes more to leave go figure. I am not trying to hype it any further then it can go which is straight to the top. EA can say what they want but modesty goes a long way.

I don't think this is the game for WoW refugees. I was sick of WoW so I checked out WAR, and it didn't take me very long to figure out that while it ws PvP oriented, it was essentially more of the same. Anyone who is burned out on WoW will be burned out on WAR once the "newness" of it wears off.
btw, LOL at spyder2k5 who said WAR was going to get 3-5 millions subscribers from WoW... You are either very naive, incredibly stupid, or just a trolling fanboi...

Mark my words they already pre sold 1.5 Million copies.... And don't try and brush that off as just to retailors as its not they got enough for preorders then a little extra. Watch the rise. Trolling fanboi... That coming from a guy who obviously never got past level 5 to enjoy the real game, and comign form the person flaming the game in the section for the game..... You sir are the troll.

AoC sold a lot of pre-orders too. Whats your point?

Lets see.... AoC was over hyped and shit? And they barely reached the numbers that WAR is before launch? You really make me laugh with your stupidity.

Lets see... WAR: Over-hyped? Check. Crappy? Subjective. I personally think it is.

But I must ask you, what is the difference between reaching and barely reaching? How did WAR reach it's numbers but AoC barely reach the same numbers? Aren't they both accomplishing the same thing?

You make me laugh with your blatent fanboism.

LMAO! Not really, botters and farmers trying to cut profit don't count sorry. What does count is the fact that 3-5 million players from wow will migrate to the better game WAR within the first 3 months I guess you haven't been watching everything Blizzard is doing in hopes to offset them leaving huh? Its pathetic they need to roll over and admit defeat. Sure they will be around for quite a while longer but they will lose a huge chunk of players.

P.S. Of course Blizzard will lie about wow growth they don't want their players getting scared. Fact lies if any growth is happening its farmers and spammers/botters. As the real players are leaving in droves.

Spyder..

I like WAR... I think it's a great game and Mythic have, at least for launch, done a great job - where they take it going forward remains to be seen.

I really do not like WoW. I could never get into it for reasons I won't go into here... but suffice to say, it left me wanting for something more challenging and not so fast-paced.

That said...

Man, I can't help but cringe at your posts. I mean, you're obviously a big fan of WAR and that's great. But you are making some really... *really* bold comments that, frankly, not even Mythic themselves can predict.

Saying 3-5 million players will migrate, etc is a wonderful thought and, when you're really into something it's easy to believe that "everyone else" would feel the same.. But that's not how it turns out in reality.

So, to come out and make statements like that... well, like I said... it makes me cringe.

Now it would be great if does do that well. Then when the numbers are official we can all look back and say "he was right"

But... for now... I'd only suggest tempering your enthusiasm with a bit of reality - no one knows how well it's going to do and that it's the superior game to anything is your opinion. Many may share it, but it's still an opinion.

Put simply.. No one can say how well the game will do. To do so is to look a bit ridiculous.

I agree with OP wholeheartedly.

I hate Blizzard with burning passion for all the things they originally promised for WoW but failed to deliver out of pure arrogance and laziness. Hello? Character titles? Does it take 4 years to program character titles into a game that makes 150 million dollars per effing month? What about world PvP in World Of Warcraft? It was promised waay before the release and no one can sell me that retard story that it was always supposed to be a PvE-only game. 2 factions, based on a RTS that introduced multiplayer to the genre. Hello?

I've been playing that POS since the release simply because there was nothing else out there with a comparable level of polish or sheer bulk of content. I canceled my account the day I had the opportunity to play WAR OB and so did my whole guild.

I don't care how awesome Diablo III may turn out to be but I'm not buying it out of sheer principle. Blizzard is not getting one single cent from me ever again.

Yet you still payed them month after month to play a game you 'didn't like'... I find that hilarious in its irony, and you blame blizzard for what exactly?? You've only got yourself to blame for your own stu... I'll leave it at that.

I played the game knowing that it is crap. That's called maturity you know - being honest. It is like you're driving a crappy car but that's the only car on the market. You don't have to go on gushing how awesome it is just because it is the only car available that actually functions. A normal person would say "It's a crappy car that I'm driving but I have no other choice. Fie to the monopolizing bastards and the incompetent competition unable to better that POS."

It is a sign of immaturity and desperation when you proclaim something "the best" just because you're using it.. ego problems are the source of most fanboism. I tell it like I think it is - yep, it's crap, and I've known it as crap but I've played it because I like to have online fun with my RL mates and nothing else delivered at the bare minimum level of acceptability until now.

Ok I was under the impression that you didn't have fun playing the game and I thought that it was kinda pathetic wasting your time on something you hated.

PS: I'm still not exactly sure what you're blaming Blizzard for though? They are a company after all, companies make money, yet you feel screwed how?

Pretty much the same reason why so many people feel screwed by food companies selling sub-par goods. Their making money is a motivation that can be opposed to my motivation of enjoying a quality product. A food company can sell you cheap crap that is masked by additives to taste good just to make a measly cent, with no care whatsoever for the good of their consumers or public at large.

A honest provider of services that is making a good profit will make an effort to improve his product. In addition this is a good business sense because a happy customer is a returning customer. Blizzard is a dishonest company in that sense because they had the means and the need to improve their product and yet they failed to do so... just out of sheer arrogance and monopolism. Let me repeat a figure again: 150 million dollars a month. They could have released a TBC-sized expansion every few months with that kind of money, and do it for free and yet turn enormous profit. Greedy creeps.

Let's just put that last figure in perspective: WAR cost 50 mil bucks to make. Blizzard could have released 3 new Warhammers per month... and now all the sheep are jumping up and down in excitement because Bliz deigned to sell them one crappy world PvP zone for 50 $ after 4 years of grind.

They are making 3 games (SC 2, D3 and 1 MMO not anounced yet on top of LK, so afraid your argument is a bit unfounded. Out of those 150m you need to take out the costs for running WoW and salaries of their staff. They release more free content than most MMOs, and good quality content too.

You are saying that they are greedy for releasing 1 expansion every 2 years and asking players to pay for it... We'll, I wonder what you would make of SOE for releasing an expansion every 6 months that added very little to the game. They keep improving the game, just look at WoW at release and now, so your point about them being dishonest is also out of the window.

The reason you don't like Blizzard is simply because you feel they are too big now and don't want to make them bigger, your other points are based on fantasy.

I been around long enough to know when an MMO will hit it big I was with Wow since Alpha and that alone and what I said during the whole development says enough too bad you wasn't there to see the same predictions while people mouthed me just like you are. I don't just make shit up. Sorry for your lack of confidence.

Your amazing use of "facts" is astounding. Just so you know, just because you say it doesn't actually mean it is a fact. Just a little life lesson for you.

On top of that you call me child... lets see all we need is a comment about how you make loads of money in real life and we will have a classic 12 year old's rant.

But, I think I am just falling for an obvious troll. If you aren't a troll and actually believe what you say, I truly feel bad for you. I'm guessing you are a disgruntled WoW player seeing your vendetta you have against them. Disgruntled for what? I don't know, but your maturity level places you perfectly in WoW.

Now you know why (just ONE of the elements btw) my simple statement is (for Wow players still playing "their" game.....

-------
Every copy of WAR sold is free publicity for WotLK.

Just have a look at amazon.de and amazon.co.uk.

In Europe: WotLK is OUTSELLING War already at launch date and they still have 2 months to go !!!!

Understand it now ??????

Wow you have a warped and twisted incorrect opinion.... WAR will take anywhere between 3-5 million players from wow in its first 3 months watch it. AoC is a joke, all hype no play. This game ha already sold 1.5 million pre orders, no MMO has done that not even AoC after release. Servers are packed before launch what more do you honestly want? Go suck on Blizzards vomit they spewed out into WoW with each passing patch they destroy the game and the franchise further. They know they are in trouble look at all they changes they are doing recently to try and offset people leaving only to make more leave. They had their time its over now its the time for WAR!

LOL! you are out of your mind.  I give this game a month, before you "vomit" all over your moniter after constantly questing, grinding and pvping.

LOL! You all really make me laugh the fact is with so many childish wow adicts of course there will be plenty of idiots that buy WoTLK. More sure! Afterall wow still ahs the larger population. How many they sell means absolutely nothing to me. As the players that seek better will still leave for WAR.
And @ Abrahmm you are no longer worth my time you are nothing but a childish troll.

You claim WAR will take 3-5 million of WoW's subscribers(they only have 4ish million western subscribers to begin with, so that would be almost all of them), then say a lot of "idiots" are going to buy WotLK(who is going to buy it if EVERYONE went to WAR?), but then say you don't care how many they sell.

Contradict much?

I just wish I could figure out what motivates someone inside to resort to "fanboism"... Not just liking a game and defending what you like, because that is natural. No, what I can't understand is what drives people to make extremely outlandish statements, or blatent lies about something or anything in defense of "their" game?

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

Sorry to bust the balloon who was inflating these last posts.

But the active playing Wow players won't desert WotLK to play WAR. In fact I get the impression AoC generated more "hype" than WAR did in and out of the game (can only speak for EU though).

WAR could recruit from the guys who were burned out from Wow and other MMO's. But the problem is: isn't WAR the actual game to become very fast burned out itself (battle fatigue already seen in aonther post).

"Battle fatigue"?  Your words, not anyone else's.  I didn't want to comment on the other thread responding to an obvious Wow troll, but please don't take what others say and twist it to fit your agenda.

The "battle fatigue" you're referring to is those playing the game for a few hours and feel like they're having fun, stop, and resume normal life.  Unlike in Wow where you raid for days on end, only to be put back on the treadmill once you hit the next raiding tier.  Guess what, when Wotlk comes out, you'll get to do it all over again.  Chasing the gear treadmill, that's the hollow feeling most people get playing Wow.

In case you want to know, at least half of the people in my guild (210+ members) are giving War a shot.

Just play the game for 10 days and come back (like I did).

Coming from Wow you won't believe your eyes comparing things.

But wait before posting in the next 10 days and then come back. (and BTW I would never use words like "vomit" like someone else did in this very post, but play the damned thing extensively and then come back).

----

Every copy sold of WAR is free publicity for WotLK.

Uhmn...guess what, I've been playing it since ob.  I have two toons in Wow in T5/6.  Please don't assume the readers here are mindless dots that you can sway with your Wow fanboyism.

Exactly I have no idea why these dumb wow fanbois come to the WAR section crying and trying to keep people from playing or even trying a great game. WAR is everything wow could have been. Its really fun and complete. We don't go into their crap section and mouth wow so they should show the same respect then again these are wow players we are talking about and they are nothing but childish trolls.

Blizzard released a report saying they've only spent 200mil on the upkeep of WoW since launch, so your argument is bunk. There is a point to be made that WAR only cost 50 mil to be created (if that is indeed accurate, I have yet to see anything about that in an article).

Err... actually, I don't think there's a MMO out there that doesn't have people going into its forums promoting other games and slamming the game in question... WoW included.

People complain about wow because thats what they do about every game once the newness wears off.

Im a wow player, on a pvp server. I tried WAR, and while I think its a decent game, it doesnt bring enough new elements to the table to warrant switching from wow. To me it feels like I'm playing a sluggish, wow wannabe, even though WAR does have some differences (classes and such).

I don't just make shit up. Sorry for your lack of confidence.

Oh FFS, drop the damn hyper-defensive crap, will you? I wasn't "mouthing" you (I assume you meant mouthing off).

Are you so hostile toward any differing opinion in real life too?

As for the little ego trip about "being around MMOs long enough"... Mythic's been around longer than that, and in a much more up-close and personal way. They have a lot more to go on than just a "gut feeling" or strong opinion. They *still* cannot predict just how well the game will do.

Whatever the hell has you so damn wound up, I recommend avoiding it for a while. Try decaf or something.

I agree about the "newness" comment. People will probably be trashing WAR in 4-5 years as well. It's just how it goes.

Wrong... Mythics other game is still one of the best and it was made a few years before wow the reason people don't play it is the graphics are really dated and it was time for a new franchise. Please look at the fact before mouthing.
