This game is what Warcraft should have been. I am completely amazed at how well Mythic got this game right. Public quests, open battles everywhere (I play on OpenRVR). Constant War can be found whereever you go!

The sound effects, the environment, the artwork, the seige weapons, all I can say is awesome and it is worth the money to buy.

Who wants to spend all day inside of a BG? Not me, I want an open battlefield not limited to an instance. Yes there are private scenerios in War, but the best battles are in the open game not instances.

There are quests galore and it doesnt take a seeing eye dog to find them, they mark an area for a quest with a red splotch on the map so you have a general idea of where you are going. NO MORE THOTTBOT, whew!

Oh and when you encounter a dwarf stuck in a barrel, you just have to laugh, "Hey, who's out there!" rofl

PUBLIC QUESTS FTW!

Yup, those soldiers who graduated from Warcraft academy can finally go to WAR!

Well, after trying the game for a few hours I somewhat agree. It's pretty clear that Mythic at least has tried to be innovative in some areas. The public quests and the open battlefield combined with several different scenarios could be a winner.

Lets see where this journey will take us. Hopefully a tad longer than AoC did...

I simply think its THE best MMO I've played. Even tho it can't be compared to SWG (yea yea it was the first real MMO i played besides runescape).

WAR has such a nice FEEL to it and character. It's amazing

Well the fanboys hype "feeling good" is certainly fed here.
Sorry to bust the balloon who was inflating these last posts.

But the active playing Wow players won't desert WotLK to play WAR. In fact I get the impression AoC generated more "hype" than WAR did in and out of the game (can only speak for EU though).

WAR could recruit from the guys who were burned out from Wow and other MMO's. But the problem is: isn't WAR the actual game to become very fast burned out itself (battle fatigue already seen in aonther post).

Wow you have a warped and twisted incorrect opinion.... WAR will take anywhere between 3-5 million players from wow in its first 3 months watch it. AoC is a joke, all hype no play. This game ha already sold 1.5 million pre orders, no MMO has done that not even AoC after release. Servers are packed before launch what more do you honestly want? Go suck on Blizzards vomit they spewed out into WoW with each passing patch they destroy the game and the franchise further. They know they are in trouble look at all they changes they are doing recently to try and offset people leaving only to make more leave. They had their time its over now its the time for WAR!

Is that a joke? The only reason I know about this game is because of mmorpg.com.  Wow is the reason that this genre is where it is. Plus with the new expansion? War bring absolutely nothing new to the table. Tell something that it does. Also, 3-5 million players MY ASS.

no dont get me wrong im no fanboy of WoW ...in fact i actually hate the damn game ... endless raiding for hundreds of hours to get gear is your only real way to advance your toon, and after 200 hours of raiding and your starting to gear up they release an xpack where blue vendor trash loot makes your ORANGE HAMMER look nub.

But to Think War could in any way kill wow, or is even for the same type of player as a typical WoW player is just crazy. I personally think War will do very well but to think they will steal more then a million or two from WoW just makes me think your High....

WoW and War shouldnt even be compaired. They dont look the same ...they dont play the same.... and they were never ment to be in any way alike.

War will do very well from what i have played but to think its a wow killer is crazy.

that being said WAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

On the WoW server that I played on, many were looking forward to the release of WAR for a change.

In WAR I am in public quests with a 20+ person raid/warband in minutes and it works. Try to PUG a 20 man instance in WoW... that would probably take you over an hour just to get 20 people.

I would not have worded it in quite the same way. However after playing WAR for a few days spyder2k5 maybe right. I have never seen a launch or a pre-launch go so well and have so many full servers already. This game may indeed have 3 million + players. Infact WAR brings a few new things to the table. What it does is get non-pvp players fired up about pvp. WoW never and could never do that. WAR takes many existing mmo feature adds a few new things and does it better then anyone including Blizzard. c4ligul4 you will be scratching your ass trying to figure out how you could have been so wrong about WAR.

I waited for wow, i was there in open beta and i played from the beginning.

Wow was full of promises; online comunity, your character is unique (yeah, tittles where talked before release) an open an evolving world full of adventure...

lol, i never felt more cheated and more adicted at the same time for the promise of something that would never try to be what they initially intended.

Blizzard really leeched his customers not repaying in any way, an expansion for some new lands and 10 levels? we don't even have a Wildhammer (the shaman dwarves) hold that looks like one, there are 3, (4 maybe) caves in the whole game.... i mean, is rpg... dungeon crawling never felt like it

Wow leeched my life for no reason at all, pretty much like RO, hellbreath, and all those old and gameplay-lacking rpgs (and don't forget the koreans.  but play exteel ).

I was waiting for War... but after 6 failures to my taste, and some just to the taste of all (Auto Assault, pirates of the burning sea, fury, AoC and TR) i didn't have much expectations...

Lets face it, it have been some long years for the "wow-burned" as they call us. Not a single, decent mmo release except for LoTRO, which is really nice... but to gay for me xD.

I don't think war will anihilate WoW, i mean, you can't just kill such a huge beast. But, it is about to strike a couple of good blows in WoW's face, and maybe with time, it will strike the killing blow.

WAR is everything WoW could never be, i don't even think it will attract nor support the WoW iddiot, its just too diferent. IT it wath i was waiting for, and im surpised for it.

Peace

They shipped what was sold to the retailers. The retailers buy the boxes to put on their shelves.

One thing I would have to say to those who say WoW is better, although I have played niether yet, point I would take into interest is that this is just the beginning for WAR...

If they can get things so close to right from the off, then that is good and if they LISTEN to customers needs and fix any found bugs quickly, then all should be well...

Again I stress I have yet to play either game and although I may be slightly bias towards WAR, being a Games Workshop fan, my main point here is, the game seems to have potential, but only time will tell whether this MMO will be as great as it could be, or whether it will fall flat on its face.....

To borrow from a phrase from china 'may you live in interesting times'

well I can certainly say we are in for interesting times.......

shhh... you might wake the trolls

If you're burned out on WoW, you'll get burned out on WAR super quick.

If you burned out on an MMO, you need a big change like real life golf or tennis.  Then you can come back to MMOs after a few months.
