For being instanced, it's pretty open, and I like the look of the world. Atleast it's not like AoC, where I felt like I had to follow a road everywhere.
Groovy. |

WoW's world wasn't even properly utilized except in the expansion. You don't really even go out there and use it. In WAR, you use every last corner of the map. WAR > WoW design as far as maps go. - - - |

I'm not really sure what the OP is getting at to be honest. Sinse when could you explore in WoW. The two systems are set up more or less the same, there are places where you can go and places where you cant. As for the cities being empty, the game hasent even launched yet, did you expet the entire world to fill out straight away? WoW was the same, until people leveled there were places that were empty. The Cities are there to be visited but until people level and find a flight master its going to be empty, also there is nothing really worth while selling yet anyway so no reason to vist the AH. You need to give it time, I really would have liked to see todays gamers playing EQ1 or UO, then they would know just how spoilt they really are with the new MMO's comming out now. |

If you think wow's world is the best, then you've missed a lot of mmos. Don't get me wrong, it's polished and well done, but very tiny. |

Now I don't like the CC-less PVP of WAR, but at least I give it a try :))) |

I like big open worlds too, but really very few MMO's have a world like that. As long as zones aren't instanced ala AoC, and I can spend a ton of time without zoning in a play session then I am happy. I would love to have it one constant world with player housing in the open, but the technology isn't there yet to support something like that with hundreds of players on screen fighting. Even with WoW's great technical code and optimized graphics they had trouble with world PvP and moved it into BG's. One day it will be technically feasible and that will be an awesome day, but for now we have what we have. If you want that kind of world in an active MMO then there is only WoW, but almost all of the players will be found in instanced battlegrounds, arenas, and instanced PvE dungeons. The world is barely used. Vanguard is great for it too though. |
